brownies + cookie dough!
Do you love brownies? What about cookie dough? Add them together, and you have today’s Cookie Dough brownies that equal HEAVEN!
It starts with a batch of yummy brownies, and is topped with cookie dough frosting. Let me tell you – it’s GOOD (and addicting!)
You can use pretty much any brownie recipe for the base, whether it’s a box mix or our favorite Homemade Brownies.
Although we used it on brownies, you can use this cookie dough frosting for anything—like cakes and cupcakes, or just eating with a spoon. 😉
How to Make Cookie Dough Brownies
PREP. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.
BATTER. In a mixer, add butter and sugars, mix until well combined.Add your eggs and vanilla, mix well. Add your dry ingredients and stir until fully incorporated.
BAKE. Spread into a greased 9×13 pan. Bake for 30-35 minutes. Cool completely before frosting.
Brownie mix shortcut: If you would like to use a boxed brownie mix instead, you definitely can as long as it is baked in a 9×13 pan (so you have enough frosting). Just follow instructions on the brownie mix box and then add the cookie dough frosting once they have cooled.
FROSTING. Cream together butter and sugar. Add vanilla and mix well. Add flour and salt and stir until fully combined. Stir in the milk and beat until fluffy. Gently stir in the chocolate chips. Spread on cooled brownies.
Additional topping Ideas:
- Chocolate syrup
- Toffee bits
- Crushed nuts of your choice
Making Ahead and Storing
To make these AHEAD OF TIME, you can prepare the brownie base in advance and then prepare and add the frosting the day they will be served.
STORE leftover brownies in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-4 days.
To FREEZE, place the brownies on a baking sheet and freeze for one hour. Once they are frozen, wrap them tightly in plastic wrap and then in foil. Store them in the freezer for up to 3 months. When ready to serve, let them thaw in the fridge overnight.

How many brownies does this recipe make?
It just depends on how big you cut them. You could get anywhere from 12 big ones to 16 normal size. It really depends on what size. Hope that helps 🙂

This look great! I’d like to use them for my foods class, do you know how many servings are in this recipe?

Hi! Greetings from Malaysia! I tried your cookie dough brownies & they were yummy! Only thing was when I stirred the choc chips in, it kinda melted the whole cookie dough so I didn’t get the light brown look
Hmmm… not sure why that happened. Ours have never melted. Next time, I would try adding frozen chips. 😉
I added cold chips instead on top. Very very delicious! Thanx for the recipe! Do you mind if I use this recipe to do small sales (i did some alterations though)?
Totally fine! 😉
Thank you soo much!
