Who loves oreos?!

Do you love Oreos as much as we do? We are always looking for easy dessert recipes to make with them, including today’s recipe.

Oreo Pudding Poke Cake is simple and delish. It is easy to change it up for different flavors and fillings (think of any pudding flavor). And for that matter, you can change out the cake base too.

We all know there are lots of Oreo varieties these days, so use whatever flavors you like. Regular Oreos are our go-to, but no matter what kind you use, it’s sure to be delicious.

I think you’ll really enjoy this easy Oreo poke cake. It’s one of our favorites, but there are a lot of other poke cake flavors we like to make, including Red Velvet, Banana, and Strawberry Poke Cake! What flavor is your favorite??

how to make Oreo Poke Cake

CAKE. Make cake as directed on the back of the box, using a 9ร—13 baking dish. While the cake is still semi-warm, poke holes into your cake. I used the handle of a wooden spoon today. Sometimes Iโ€™ll also use the end of a clean highlighter.

PUDDING. Make pudding as directed on box and pour pudding mixture over cake.

TOPPING. Sprinkle crushed Oreos on top.

Note: For a more set up pudding texture, chill the cake in the refrigerator for a minimum of 30 min before serving.

Variations

  • Aside from using different types of Oreos you can also change up the flavor of cake or even add a topping of cool whip or homemade whipped cream
  • We used Oreo flavored pudding, but you could use vanilla pudding, or even chocolate!

Ingredient Tips

Milk: The higher the fat content of the milk the creamier the pudding will turn out. I suggest using 2% or higher, skim wonโ€™t get as creamy and thick of a pudding.

Pudding: Make sure you are using INSTANT pudding mix. Once you have the pudding mixed up, don’t wait for it to set. Just pour it directly on top of the cake.

Crushed Oreo Cookies: The best technique is to place some Oreos in a Ziploc bag and crush it with a rolling pin. Now you have your crumbs in a bag ready to go.

Storing Tips

Make this cake ahead of time, at least 1 hour before you plan to serve it so that the pudding in the cake can set. You can also make it the day before.

STORE it covered in the fridge until you’re ready to serve it. It might get soggy if stored too long. It’s best to eat it within 1-2 days.

This looks so yummy! I am going to make it for a family gathering-after you make it do you chill and store in fridge?

Thanks. And yes, I should have added that to the post. Definitely keep it refrigerated until serving. ๐Ÿ™‚

I made this with my own mix…was supposed to be brownie but turned into cake!! Pahaha (admittedly I was winging it, never made brownies before so just stuffed yummyness into a pan)

So as I’d read your post before and wanted to try my own poke cake I decided to poke the hell outta my brownie/cake. Popped butterscotch pudding on top and…WOW!! Delicious!

I did have a panic after it was made as I didn’t know where to put it!! Glad the fridge option was mentioned.

  3. Bari says:

Looks delicious and want to try it, but wondering if you chill the pudding before you pour it, or pour it while still liquid-y and then chill the whole cake?

    1. Lil' Luna says:

I let it set it for a minute or two and then poured it. I’ve also made it where it was still super liquid-y and it still worked. Hope that helps. ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. Megan and Emily says:

This looks sooo good. I’ll have to try it for our family’s valentine’s get together. I’m sure it will be a hit!!

    1. Lil' Luna says:

You should definitely do it. Made it again on Friday. So quick, easy and DELISH! ๐Ÿ™‚
