THE EASIEST + YUMMIEST PEACH COBBLER

Today, we wanted to share with you our favorite homemade peach cobbler recipe. We’ve made this recipe for decades and think it’s the easiest, yummiest peach cobbler out there.

WHY WE LOVE PEACH COBBLER

  • Prep. Takes just a few minutes and is so simple.
  • Pantry Staples. It’s made with pantry staples, which makes it a go-to!
  • Fresh or Canned Peaches. It can be made with either.
  • Easy to Double. Which is great for serving a crowd.
  • Perfect all year long. Summer, winter, holidays – it’s always good!

Ingredients

  • 1 – 15 ounce can of peaches – the whole can (peaches and juice) – fresh peaches work too!
  • 1/2 cup butter – we use unsalted
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup milk – we recommend at least 2% milk
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • pinch of salt
  • cinnamon – it’s optional, but it does add more flavor

STEP BY STEP

  1. PREP. Preheat your oven to 350ยฐF and melt the 1/2 cup butter in a 9×9 baking dish in your oven.
  2. CAKE. In a medium bowl, mix 1 cup flour, 1 cup sugar, 1 cup milk, 2 teaspoons baking powder, and pinch of salt really well. Take the pan out of the oven once the butter is melted and pour the batter mixture over it.
  3. PEACHES. Spoon the peaches (with the juice) over it. Do NOT mix!!
  4. BAKE + SERVE. Bake for 40-45 minutes and serve warm.

We love to serve it with a scoop of Vanilla Ice Cream and Whipped Cream!

prefer to use Fresh Peaches?

To use fresh peaches you need a boiled fresh peach mixture.

  1. Take 2 cups of freshly sliced peaches (about 4-5 peaches, peeled, cored, and sliced), ยพ cup of sugar, and a dash of salt, and bring to a boil over high heat.
  2. Pour over batter into the 9×9 pan. Do not mix!
  3. The rest of the recipe remains exactly the same.

Hi. Thought I would make this during our Christmas festivities. Just curious if you use can peaches with heavy syrup or juice.

    1. Lil' Luna says:

Hi Allison. I always used the canned peaches with juice… and it turns out awesome!! ๐Ÿ˜€

For those that have diabetic husbands who love their sweets, I’ve tweaked the recipe. Canned peaches in juice, drained the juice and added ยฝ c. Splenda blend to the juice. Place the peaches on the batter then pour the juice over gently. Same with the batter, cut the sugar to ยฝ c. Splenda blend. Works like a charm!

      2. Kristyn Merkley says:

Thank you so much for sharing that, Tracie! I hope that helps others ๐Ÿ™‚

This has {almost} been my family’s peach cobbler recipe for as long as I can remember – 30+ years. We are from Peach County in GA and we know our peach cobbler ๐Ÿ˜‰ You can use 1 cup of self-rising flour in place of the plain flour, baking powder, and salt. Also, add 1/2 t. of pure almond extract to the batter. That is the ingredient that takes this to the next level. ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. Maryanne says:

I am going to try this, but want to try it with the crockpot(due to heating up the house). Any suggestions? I’ll let you know what happens!

    1. Lil' Luna says:

Hmmmm, never tried the crock pot. Let me know how it goes and I can add some notes to the recipe for those who want to try it as well. ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. Courtney says:

How many servings does this typically make?

  5. Jaclyn says:

This looks a lot like the recipe I have from my aunt and it is the BEST ever! It’s so hard to resist a nice soft, warm peach cobbler like this. ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Lil' Luna says:

You’re telling me!! It’s just so darn good and too easy to make. ๐Ÿ™‚

  6. Robyn Rasmussen says:

Yes! Thank you! I have a huge bag of fresh peaches on my counter just waiting to be used and this recipe looks like a perfect solution! -Robyn from http://www.tipsfromtheheart.blogspot.com

I love peach cobbler! It is one of my favorite summer recipes. I am definitely going to try this! xo MegganPS – I am having an Anthropologie giveaway this week that I think you would like!

  8. Marianne says:

Looks great, but do you drain the peaches or add the liquid as well?

    1. Lil' Luna says:

I add the liquid too! ๐Ÿ˜€

    2. Molly says:

Yes that what I do and it also says to do that In the instructions.

  9. TheUnSoccerMom says:

Question: What kind of flour do you use? all purpose? self-rising?Do tell! :o)

    1. Kelly says:

Use All-purpose if you follow the recipe b/c you’ll be adding the baking powder and salt. If you use self rising flour, omit the baking powder and salt because self-rising flour already has that in it.

      1. Kristyn Merkley says:

        Thanks for sharing that!

    2. Bake Star 32710 says:

      I use all purpose

  10. Summer says:

I am totally the same way. I'm not a fan of fruit in desserts, and rarely care for any type of pie that doesn't involve chocolate. Peach cobbler might be a go, though; I LOVE peaches!
