prefer to use Fresh Peaches?

To use fresh peaches you need a boiled fresh peach mixture.

  1. Take 2 cups of freshly sliced peaches (about 4-5 peaches, peeled, cored, and sliced), ¾ cup of sugar, and a dash of salt, and bring to a boil over high heat.
  2. Pour over batter into the 9×9 pan. Do not mix!
  3. The rest of the recipe remains exactly the same.

This was just luscious! And so easy to make. I did cut up my peach slices to ensure a good distribution of peaches throughout the pan.
It was superb with both vanilla bean ice cream and real whipped cream. I tested both in the name of science. You are welcome.
This will make a great last-minute dessert for company!

  3. Jamie says:

What kind of flour is used? Self rising or all purpose?

    1. Kristyn Merkley says:

      All purpose 🙂 ENJOY!

  4. Rose says:

If i use fresh peaches do i need to add any juice to make up for what’s in the canned peaches?

    1. Lil' Luna says:

You probably would need to. I personally haven’t tried using fresh peaches. I’m not sure what would be the best juice to add? A peach juice or just water??

      1. Jennifer Lewis says:

The peaches cooked on the stove with the sugar and lemon juice comes out to be really juicy. No need to add any other liquid. I always use fresh fruit (peaches) with any cobbler I make and it always comes out perfect.

      2. Lil'Luna Team says:

Fresh fruit in cobbler is so delicious! Thanks for sharing!

    2. SusanAnn Sheidy says:

No need to add juice. If your peaches are fresh and juicy no need to add juice.

  5. jean says:

I melted the 1/2 cup of butter in oven and followed directions. The butter looks like alot. After I baked it, in the end it looks like soup. Is it supposed to be like that?

    1. Lil' Luna says:

It does look soupy, once everything is poured in, but in the end, after it bakes, it will be just fine. Did it turn out ok? I hope so!!

    2. Sheila Kay says:

Yes I thought it was a lot of butter too and mine came out so soupy after it came out of the oven. The first time I did this I cut down on the butter and the sugar and it came out perfect.

      1. Sarah Howard says:

I loved the comments about being too much butter or soupy. The whole time reading through the recipe I was praying it would be the butter heart attack version and not dry pie crust. It is amazing. 😂

  6. Margaret says:

I actually forgot the milk and it was still delicious. I cooked it for 40 minutes

I am thinking of making this but I was wondering if you have ever replaced the flour with Bisquick?

    1. Lil' Luna says:

I have never tried it with Bisquick but will have to next time and let you know. If you decide to try it before me I’d love to know how it turns out. 😉

      1. Heather says:

        5 stars
It was so yummy with Bisquick – I think I will add a little cinnamon next time! Thanks for the recipe!

      2. Lil' Luna says:

Glad it worked out!! And cinnamon would definitely be a great addition. 🙂

      3. Heather says:

I did add a little extra Bisquick to it though.

      4. Michelle Ruben-Smith says:

      5. Kristyn Merkley says:

It does not, but you can sure add one 😉

  9. telesma says:

If you use self-rising flour you don’t need the baking powder, and I use a half a stick of butter when I make it. You can also make it with pretty much any combination of fruit or berries – fresh, frozen, or canned – and you can play with extracts and spices. I like a bit of cinnamon and nutmeg with peaches, almond extract with raspberries, lemon or cinnamon with blueberries, vanilla with strawberries.
