THE EASIEST + YUMMIEST PEACH COBBLER

Today, we wanted to share with you our favorite homemade peach cobbler recipe. We’ve made this recipe for decades and think it’s the easiest, yummiest peach cobbler out there.

WHY WE LOVE PEACH COBBLER

  • Prep. Takes just a few minutes and is so simple.
  • Pantry Staples. It’s made with pantry staples, which makes it a go-to!
  • Fresh or Canned Peaches. It can be made with either.
  • Easy to Double. Which is great for serving a crowd.
  • Perfect all year long. Summer, winter, holidays – it’s always good!

Ingredients

  • 1 – 15 ounce can of peaches – the whole can (peaches and juice) – fresh peaches work too!
  • 1/2 cup butter – we use unsalted
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup milk – we recommend at least 2% milk
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • pinch of salt
  • cinnamon – it’s optional, but it does add more flavor

STEP BY STEP

  1. PREP. Preheat your oven to 350ยฐF and melt the 1/2 cup butter in a 9×9 baking dish in your oven.
  2. CAKE. In a medium bowl, mix 1 cup flour, 1 cup sugar, 1 cup milk, 2 teaspoons baking powder, and pinch of salt really well. Take the pan out of the oven once the butter is melted and pour the batter mixture over it.
  3. PEACHES. Spoon the peaches (with the juice) over it. Do NOT mix!!
  4. BAKE + SERVE. Bake for 40-45 minutes and serve warm.

We love to serve it with a scoop of Vanilla Ice Cream and Whipped Cream!

prefer to use Fresh Peaches?

To use fresh peaches you need a boiled fresh peach mixture.

  1. Take 2 cups of freshly sliced peaches (about 4-5 peaches, peeled, cored, and sliced), ยพ cup of sugar, and a dash of salt, and bring to a boil over high heat.
  2. Pour over batter into the 9×9 pan. Do not mix!
  3. The rest of the recipe remains exactly the same.

Hello – can U use frozen peaches

    1. Kristyn Merkley says:

I haven’t tried frozen, just canned or fresh, but you should be able to. I would let them thaw out first.

I gave this a try, made a few changes. Added a bit of vanilla, and a touch of cinnamon. It was delicious and a hit with the family. Next time will try to reduce the sugar, might have been a little too sweet. Wondered how if it’d work with canned pie filling like apple or blueberry. Would probably need more liquid, have to give that a little more thought.

    1. Kristyn Merkley says:

Thanks for sharing what you did. I have not tried it with other fillings, but I bet that would be good.

I’ve been making this cobbler for over 50 years of my marriage. My mother make it before me. I would never, ever use can peaches! Only fresh peaches go into my cobblers. Some think there is no difference. Trust me, close your eyes when you taste your first spoonful you will never go can peaches again. Other wise you will love, love, love this recipe. WARNING: Under no circumstances add cinnamon. For some reason people always want to add this fabulous spice to Peach Cobbler. Don’t spoil the recipe leave the cinnamon in the spice cabinet this time.

    1. Kristyn Merkley says:

Fresh is definitely best, but when in a pinch, I use canned. Thanks for the 5 stars & comment ๐Ÿ™‚
