prefer to use Fresh Peaches?

To use fresh peaches you need a boiled fresh peach mixture.

  1. Take 2 cups of freshly sliced peaches (about 4-5 peaches, peeled, cored, and sliced), ¾ cup of sugar, and a dash of salt, and bring to a boil over high heat.
  2. Pour over batter into the 9×9 pan. Do not mix!
  3. The rest of the recipe remains exactly the same.

I was wanting to try your recipe so badly, but didn’t have peaches or a pan to bake it in the oven (we just moved and haven’t gotten one yet). So I improvised. And I cannot wait to try this in the oven and with peaches!! It was heavenly.

I used red delicious apples instead, adding a tiny bit of vanilla and sprinkled the top with cinnamon. I cooked it on a gas stovetop: on a skillet with a lid on low heat for 35min. I followed your directions, just in the skillet pan.

Thanks for making a recipe that can be easily tweaked!

    1. Kristyn Merkley says:

Awesome! I’ll have to try with apples 🙂 I hope you try it with the peaches, when you are settled! Thank you!

  7. Michele Elliott says:

Hi, you said you used canned peaches in juice. I found only canned peaches in heavy syrup. If I use them, would I have to cut down on the Sugar? I think juice isn’t as sweet as Syrup. Thank you for a fast and simple dessert. I hope mine will turn out Excellent!

    1. Kristyn Merkley says:

I mean syrup as well 🙂 That is perfect!

    2. Ann says:

Do you recommend salted or unsalted butter?

      1. Kristyn Merkley says:

I personally use unsalted when baking, so I can control the salt.
