THE EASIEST + YUMMIEST PEACH COBBLER

Today, we wanted to share with you our favorite homemade peach cobbler recipe. We’ve made this recipe for decades and think it’s the easiest, yummiest peach cobbler out there.

WHY WE LOVE PEACH COBBLER

  • Prep. Takes just a few minutes and is so simple.
  • Pantry Staples. It’s made with pantry staples, which makes it a go-to!
  • Fresh or Canned Peaches. It can be made with either.
  • Easy to Double. Which is great for serving a crowd.
  • Perfect all year long. Summer, winter, holidays – it’s always good!

Ingredients

  • 1 – 15 ounce can of peaches – the whole can (peaches and juice) – fresh peaches work too!
  • 1/2 cup butter – we use unsalted
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup milk – we recommend at least 2% milk
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • pinch of salt
  • cinnamon – it’s optional, but it does add more flavor

STEP BY STEP

  1. PREP. Preheat your oven to 350ยฐF and melt the 1/2 cup butter in a 9×9 baking dish in your oven.
  2. CAKE. In a medium bowl, mix 1 cup flour, 1 cup sugar, 1 cup milk, 2 teaspoons baking powder, and pinch of salt really well. Take the pan out of the oven once the butter is melted and pour the batter mixture over it.
  3. PEACHES. Spoon the peaches (with the juice) over it. Do NOT mix!!
  4. BAKE + SERVE. Bake for 40-45 minutes and serve warm.

We love to serve it with a scoop of Vanilla Ice Cream and Whipped Cream!

prefer to use Fresh Peaches?

To use fresh peaches you need a boiled fresh peach mixture.

  1. Take 2 cups of freshly sliced peaches (about 4-5 peaches, peeled, cored, and sliced), ยพ cup of sugar, and a dash of salt, and bring to a boil over high heat.
  2. Pour over batter into the 9×9 pan. Do not mix!
  3. The rest of the recipe remains exactly the same.

  3. John says:

Hi Kristyn, I am looking forward to baking this cobbler, especially because your recipe is so easy to make. I was just confused as I thought the crumble/batter goes on top to make a crunchy layer on top? Maybe I’m thinking of a different type of PEACH DESSERT, BUT CAN YOU LET ME KNOW WHY THE PEACHES AREN’T ON THE BOTTOM AND THE BATTER SITS ON TOP OR WHAT THAT DESSERT MAY BE CALLED? tHANKS IN ADVANCE.

    1. Kristyn Merkley says:

Not in this recipe, but you could be thinking of a crisp, where there is a brown sugar mixture on top or maybe some cobblers do, but not this one. I do hope you try & like it ๐Ÿ™‚

      1. John says:

Excellent recipe! Too salty first time I made it and switched to unsalted butter a skip pinch of salt. Much better like that. I glaze it with a 1/2 CUP POWDER sugar, 1.5 tbs SOUR cream, and 1/4 TSP ALMOND extract icing.

    This is Soo good!

I NEVER LEAVE COMMENTS FOR RECIPES I TRY, BUT I HAVE TO SAY THAT THIS PEACH COBBLER HAS BEEN A HUGE hit every time I bake it. Which has been really often. Like, the first time I made it, I loved it so much that I made it the next three days in a row. My friends request it at every get-together. really easy to make for a person like me who isn’t very cooking-inclined. I add a bit of CINNAMON, nutmeg and vanilla now for an extra kick. THANKS SO MUCH FOR POSTING THIS!

made and served this super easy recipe to friends on saturday and they couldn’t stop talking about how good it was. I THOUGHT it would be really sweet with 1 cup sugar plus the juice from the peaches, but it was perfect. i will definitely be making this again.
