Naturally Sweet!

We LOVE breakfast food. We love it so much that on a weekly basis we serve up breakfast for dinner. With such busy mornings, and no time for elaborate meals, we have to whip up our favorites in the evening.

This is a win-win in our books, because it’s never too late for a plate of pancakes or a breakfast casserole!

Hubby loves him some waffles, so that is a staple in our house. While we love our buttermilk waffles, it’s fun to mix things up.

I thought I’d add some natural sweetness by mashing up bananas and adding them in the batter. The result was this batch of luscious Banana Waffles. They are borderline banana bread, part waffle, and all good!

The Banana Waffles are absolutely delicious and can easily be eaten without any toppings at all. Of course should you want to add some extra delicious flavors here are some favorites:

TIPS + FAQ

Waffle Tip: The less you fuss with the batter the fluffier your waffles will be! I always let my batter sit for a few minutes to thicken before I make the waffles.

  • Be sure you mix the dry ingredients separately as directed in the instructions.
  • Don’t over mix. Its ok if the batter has a few lumps.

How to freeze? Freeze these waffles to be enjoyed later whether you make ahead of time or have leftovers.  Place the cooked waffles on a parchment paper lined baking sheet. Freeze until frozen (about 2 hours). Then, put them in an airtight freezer safe container. I usually use a Freezer Ziploc bag. The waffles will stay good for up to 4 months.

How to store? Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for 2-3 days.

How to reheat? To reheat refrigerated or frozen waffles, preheat oven or toaster oven to 350 degrees F and bake for 10-15 minutes or until hot. You can also heat them up in a toaster or the microwave.

      Thank you!!

  2. Leila says:

Waaaay too much baking soda, it was very overpowering and tasted like soap. I feel like it would’ve been good with 1tsp instead.

Loved them! Something different and I had 2 ripe bananas to use. My 1 year enjoyed them. Toddler didn’t, he prefers plain waffles. Gave it a thumbs up on Samsung Food App.

  4. Beth says:

I wish I would’ve read the comments before making the recipe. I experienced the same issue as others. The batter burned and stuck to the waffle maker, creating burned yet gummy waffles. Made them into pancakes. Would not recommend. There are other banana waffle recipes with different portions that don’t cause this issue.

  5. Kimberly says:

As other reviewers experienced, the waffle batter sticks to both sides of the waffle iron and the waffle splits apart in the middle. I have made waffles using other recipes successfully many times, and I thoroughly greased the waffle iron, so the problem is truly the recipe.

    1. Burt Bushell says:

Simple solution to this add butter or oil to the recipe and everything will be great. I tried it without and had the same problem. Add oil and it turned out great. I prefer oil to butter as you get a nice exterior crisp while the inside a soft and fluffy. No butter or oil is a flaw in this recipe.

  6. Tedi says:

Tastes fine but it’s not a good waffle batter, it got separated and I ended up with two crispy peaces. I made the rest into pancakes

  7. Chris H says:

Wow!!! These are Delicious! They can be served “plain” but plain would never be a descriptive option here. I could eat the whole recipe by myself and the only regret would be that there aren’t any for later. Definitely adding to my waffle recipe rotation.

For fun, I added some cacoa powder. Tasty.
    Thank you for sharing.

They taste very good but get soggy and a little salty even with just a small sprinkle of salt

Had zero issues with batter sticking to waffle iron. Added some chocolate chips. Delicious waffles. Thank you.

  10. Nikkie says:

Stuck to the top and bottom of waffle maker even when oiled, impossible to cook as waffles so made them into pancakes. Wouldn’t recommend
