A Favorite Dip to Love!

We love having delicious crock pot recipes on hand and wanted to adapt our classic Buffalo Chicken Dip into an easy crockpot buffalo chicken dip.

Grab some of your favorite Chips and start dipping because you’re going to love this recipe as much as we do.

Here’s why we love it:

  • Quick and easy. This easy buffalo chicken dip recipe requires few ingredients, a quick prep time, and can be served straight from the crock pot!
  • Flavor explosion. This crockpot buffalo chicken dip is creamy, cheesy, and has a little kick to it.
  • Party time! It’s the perfect hot dip recipe for serving a small or large crowd.
Shredded chicken, cheese, buffalo sauce, and cream cheese ready to be combined.

Dip Ingredients

  • Shredded Chicken. Use chicken breast or chicken thighs and cook it with your desired method (boil, grill, bake, or slow cook) to produce tender chicken then shred it up! Or use canned chicken or rotisserie chicken if you’re short on time.
  • Buffalo wing sauce or your favorite hot sauce. We like Frank’s red hot buffalo sauce. To make a super spicy dip add some cayenne pepper
  • Ranch Dressing
  • cream cheese or cottage cheese or Greek yogurt
  • cheddar cheese – sharp cheddar cheese is more flavorful but mild cheddar works too. Shredding your cheese will melt better than pre-shredded cheese.
  • blue cheese crumbles
Adding cream cheese to a pot of seasoned shredded chicken in a pot.

How to Make Buffalo Chicken Dip in the Crockpot

  1. MIX. Mix shredded chicken and hot sauce in a pot on medium heat. Add cream cheese and stir until blended. Mix in ranch dressing. Add 1 cup of cheddar cheese and heat until melted.
  2. COOK. Pour dip into crock pot and top with remaining ยฝ cup of cheddar cheese. Keep on low heat as you serve.

Recipe Tips

  • Filling crockpot. Be sure to use the correct size crock pot. The dip should fill the pot between ยฝ way and ยพ of the way.
  • Dippables. Tortilla chips are classic as are crackers, bread cubes, pretzels, Lays, and Fritos. You can also use veggies like carrots, celery sticks, broccoli florets, and bell peppers.

Store Your Dip

  • STORE. Keep leftover slow cooker buffalo chicken dip in an airtight container and reheat it in the microwave, oven, or slow cooker when you’re ready to enjoy it again.
  • FREEZE. Due to the dairy, I don’t recommend freezing it if you plan to serve it at a party. However, I have often frozen leftovers to enjoy later. It takes on a bit of a grainy texture but I think it is still delicious with great flavor.

I think one cup each of Buffalo sauce and ranch dressing is too soupy. If you want it to be more solid, cut these in half. The flavor is tasty though.
