Who loves oreos?!
Do you love Oreos as much as we do? We are always looking for easy dessert recipes to make with them, including today’s recipe.
Oreo Pudding Poke Cake is simple and delish. It is easy to change it up for different flavors and fillings (think of any pudding flavor). And for that matter, you can change out the cake base too.
We all know there are lots of Oreo varieties these days, so use whatever flavors you like. Regular Oreos are our go-to, but no matter what kind you use, it’s sure to be delicious.
I think you’ll really enjoy this easy Oreo poke cake. It’s one of our favorites, but there are a lot of other poke cake flavors we like to make, including Red Velvet, Banana, and Strawberry Poke Cake! What flavor is your favorite??

how to make Oreo Poke Cake
CAKE. Make cake as directed on the back of the box, using a 9×13 baking dish. While the cake is still semi-warm, poke holes into your cake. I used the handle of a wooden spoon today. Sometimes I’ll also use the end of a clean highlighter.
PUDDING. Make pudding as directed on box and pour pudding mixture over cake.
TOPPING. Sprinkle crushed Oreos on top.
Note: For a more set up pudding texture, chill the cake in the refrigerator for a minimum of 30 min before serving.
Variations
- Aside from using different types of Oreos you can also change up the flavor of cake or even add a topping of cool whip or homemade whipped cream.
- We used Oreo flavored pudding, but you could use vanilla pudding, or even chocolate!

Ingredient Tips
Milk: The higher the fat content of the milk the creamier the pudding will turn out. I suggest using 2% or higher, skim won’t get as creamy and thick of a pudding.
Pudding: Make sure you are using INSTANT pudding mix. Once you have the pudding mixed up, don’t wait for it to set. Just pour it directly on top of the cake.
Crushed Oreo Cookies: The best technique is to place some Oreos in a Ziploc bag and crush it with a rolling pin. Now you have your crumbs in a bag ready to go.

Storing Tips
Make this cake ahead of time, at least 1 hour before you plan to serve it so that the pudding in the cake can set. You can also make it the day before.
STORE it covered in the fridge until you’re ready to serve it. It might get soggy if stored too long. It’s best to eat it within 1-2 days.

Yum! This is my kids’ new favorite dessert- so moist and delicious.
My kids are OREO OBSESSED! They loved this recipe so much, filled with chocolate and Oreos, it was such a hit! Can’t wait to make it again.
Yay!! I’m so glad you all enjoyed the cake!
Everyone loves Oreos especially when there part of the cake. Makes for a great dessert!
We love your jello poke cake & of course, when I saw this chocolate version, I knew I had to try it!! It was delicious!! It’s moist & refreshing!
My daughter wants to make this for the “Kids Bake Off” tomorrow at church. We were planning to put it all together tonight and leave in fridge until tomorrow (noonish), but now I am wondering if we should wait to do the pudding on top until the morning…thoughts?
Making this for my family for Valentines Day! Looks so good. I can’t wait to try it!
Excited to make this for a baby shower I’m hosting tomorrow. However, I don’t know how you manage to prep in 5 minutes….you have to prep the cake, prep the pudding, crush the oreos, and then put the cake together. 5 mintues is a drastic underestimate.
Did you make this yet? 5 minutes may seem drastic, but it took me only 5 minutes to get the cake in the oven and have the oreos crushed (I literally took a rolling pin to them in one minute). And I didn’t prep the pudding until the cake was done, so didn’t technically include that in the prep time.
When making this, do you let the pudding set first before putting on cake?
Thanks!
You don’t have to chill the pudding before putting it on the cake, just stir the pudding mix with the milk until it takes on a pudding like consistency. I filled in the holes with pudding before spreading the remainder over the top of the cake.
I found your recipe on Pinterest and was going to make it tomorrow for my bible study small group, but I can’t stop drooling over the picture so the cake just came out of the oven! My husband keeps asking if it’s ready yet! We are so excited to try it! Thanks for the recipe! I’ve never made a ‘poke’ cake before but this is just too easy to not try! Yum! 🙂
So glad!! Anxious to hear what you thought…. 🙂

This looks so yummy! I am going to make it for a family gathering-after you make it do you chill and store in fridge?
Thanks. And yes, I should have added that to the post. Definitely keep it refrigerated until serving. 🙂
I made this with my own mix…was supposed to be brownie but turned into cake!! Pahaha (admittedly I was winging it, never made brownies before so just stuffed yummyness into a pan)
So as I’d read your post before and wanted to try my own poke cake I decided to poke the hell outta my brownie/cake. Popped butterscotch pudding on top and…WOW!! Delicious!
I did have a panic after it was made as I didn’t know where to put it!! Glad the fridge option was mentioned.
xx Kat xx
Ooooh, butterscotch!! Sounds like you came up with a delicious concoction!! 😀
Looks delicious and want to try it, but wondering if you chill the pudding before you pour it, or pour it while still liquid-y and then chill the whole cake?
I let it set it for a minute or two and then poured it. I’ve also made it where it was still super liquid-y and it still worked. Hope that helps. 🙂
This looks sooo good. I’ll have to try it for our family’s valentine’s get together. I’m sure it will be a hit!!
You should definitely do it. Made it again on Friday. So quick, easy and DELISH! 🙂
