Party Perfect

We LOVE to make our food festive and fun, especially during the holidays! Our adorable puffy pastry candy canes are a favorite during the Christmas season.

You only need 5 ingredients (you heard me right) and they are ready to enjoy in just 30 minutes. Quick and tasty! We used strawberry preserves and added a simple glaze for extra sweetness.

The kids love to grab one (or two) for breakfast on the way out the door, and we also love to serve them at holiday gatherings and parties. They’re cute and yummy and perfect for kids and adults.

Try our Candy Cane Danish for most Christmas cuteness!

WHY WE LOVE IT:

  • 5 ingredients! You don’t need much to make this cute breakfast.

Ingredients

  • 1 sheet puff pastry
  • ½ cup strawberry jam – raspberry jam or cherry pie filling
  • 1 egg

Glaze

  • ¼ cup powdered sugar, sifted
  • ½-1 teaspoon milk
  • optional flavor – add ½ teaspoon vanilla extract or almond extract

How to Make Puffy Pastry Candy Canes

  1. PREP. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or silicone liner.
  2. ASSEMBLE. Roll out the puff pastry sheet and cut it in half short-wise. Spoon ½ cup jam onto 1 sheet and spread all over almost to the edges. Add the other plain sheet on top of the jam sheet and pinch the edges. Use a pizza cutter to cut into 1-inch strips.
    • Twist the strips and place them on the prepared baking sheet curving one end up top to form a candy cane shape.
    • In a small bowl, whisk 1 egg and brush each candy cane with the egg wash.
  3. BAKE. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown.
  4. GLAZE. Whisk ¼ cup powdered sugar and ½-1 teaspoon milk.
    • Remove canes from oven and while still warm, drizzle with glaze.

All I can say is delicious. I made these last night for our family boat parade and they were a hit. Everyone loved them. So good with hot chocolate or coffe. There were none left. Guess I’ll have to make more. Thanks for another great recipe.
