PB + Banana Heaven!

We LOVE the combo of bananas and peanut butter and knew we had to try it in a delicious smoothie. We are so glad we did because this peanut butter banana smoothie is now a go-to breakfast recipe! This smoothie is also perfect as an after-school snack or to enjoy on a hot summer day.

This recipe is also great because it requires minimal ingredients. The peanut butter adds so much flavor and the bananas add natural sweetness and help make it creamier.

It’s so delicious, this drink is practically a dessert! For more favs, check out our classic Fruit Smoothie, Strawberry Banana Smoothie and Pineapple Banana Smoothie.

WHY WE LOVE IT:

  • An easy breakfast. Smoothies are the best quick and easy breakfast, and they hardly require any ingredients!
  • A protein boost. This smoothie gets extra protein in addition to the peanut butter because we use Greek yogurt which is super high in protein and makes it extra creamy.
  • Just blend! Simply add the ingredients to your blender and blend – it’s ready to enjoy in only 3 minutes!
Two ripe bananas on a kitchen table.

Ingredients

  • 2 ripe bananas, sliced – Use ripe or overripe bananas. They’re sweeter and become creamier when blended. If using frozen bananas, do not add extra ice.
  • 2 tablespoons creamy peanut butter – or nut butter like almond butter, cashew butter, pecan butter, or sunflower butter
  • ½ cup vanilla Greek yogurt – or almond, cashew, or coconut-based yogurt
  • ½ cup milk – or whole or 2% milk, but almond milk, coconut milk, soy milk, oat milk, or water
  • ice, optional

Healthy Mix-Ins

  • Add ½-1 teaspoon of chia seeds, flax seeds, wheat germ, nutritional yeast, or fiber.
  • Add a scoop of vanilla, chocolate, peanut butter, or banana protein powder.
  • Toss in a handful of baby spinach.
  • Add extra flavor with sliced strawberries, blueberries, 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, a sprinkle of cinnamon, or cocoa powder.
  • Sweeten it up naturally with ½-1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup. You can also use Stevia or Swerve.
