While many of our Easter traditions focus on Christ, we LOVE to include a few fun “Easter Bunny” activities and treats like our kids’ favorite bunny bait recipe!

We leave out milk and cookies at Christmas, so why not something for that fuzzy little bunny? The kids love to fill a little plate with some Easter Chocolate Covered Strawberries and, of course, this snack mix treat. While we’ve never caught the Easter Bunny, it’s still fun to try. 😉

This mix is for people, too! It’s filled with sweet and savory tidbits that we ALL love to snack on. Salty nuts and cereal combine with milk chocolate M&Ms, all coated in a creamy vanilla candy coating. It literally mixes up in minutes, then you simply spread it to cool, and enjoy!

For more perfect munchies, try our Sweet Chex Mix or savory Chex Mix!

Why we think you’ll love it:

  • Sweet and salty. We combined salt, nuts, and cereal with milk chocolate M&Ms and a vanilla candy coating for an addictive combo!
  • So festive. The pastel M&Ms are the perfect Easter touch, making this a favorite treat for the season!
  • Perfect for beginners. This recipe is beyond simple! Melt the candy coating and stir with cereal mixture, then simply spread it out and let it cool!

Bunny Bait Ingredients and Substitutions

  • 2 cups Rice Chex cereal or Corn Chex

How to Make Bunny Bait

  1. MIX. In a large bowl, combine Chex, Cheerios, pretzels, M&M’s, and peanuts and mix well.
  2. ALMOND BARK. Break almond bark into pieces and melt in a medium pot over low heat, stirring constantly until smooth.
    • Pour melted bark over cereal mixture and mix well.
  3. COOL. Spread out onto wax paper or a parchment paper–lined baking sheet. Let set for 1 hour, then break into pieces to serve.
  • The bigger the mixing bowl, the easier it is to coat everything evenly.
  • To melt the bark in the microwave, chop it into smaller pieces and place it in a microwave-safe bowl. Heat in 30-second increments, stirring in between, until smooth.
  • We prefer using almond bark, but you can use white chocolate chips. Check out our How to Melt Chocolate post for tips.
  • Should you add other mix-ins, use ones that are similar in size, and be sure the ratio of snack mix to the candy coating is balanced so everything gets coated.
  • We love to double this bunny bait recipe and deliver this easy-to-make treat to neighbors.

Chex Mix is already gluten-free, but you’ll need to find gluten-free Cheerios and pretzels to use.

Can I add extra mix-ins?
