We LOVE Christmas baking!
One of our favorite things to bake around the holidays is cookies! Our Christmas chocolate chip cookies are an EASY favorite (our kids are obsessed). They are not only simple but perfect for sharing – or for Santa’s plate!
What we love the most is how delicious and festive they are. Everyone – kids and adults – loves them! Who doesn’t want M&Ms in their cookies – AND sprinkles?!

WHY WE LOVE IT:
- Classic + no-fail. We use the base of our Chocolate Chip Cookie recipe which is tried and true – and come out perfect every time!
- So simple. As with most cookies, the batter is simple and they bake up in minutes! The batter is perfect for storing or freezing to whip out for a last-minute treat.
- Holiday perfection. They are festive and perfect for gifting – great for parties and any get-togethers.
Ingredients
PREP TIME: 15 minutes
COOK TIME: 7 minutes
- ยฝ cup butter, softened – We used unsalted but salted butter can be used as well. See How to Soften Butter Quickly
- ยฝ cup vegetable oil
- 1 cup brown sugar – We used light brown sugar, but dark brown sugar can be used for a slightly chewier texture.
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 eggs – room temperature
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 3 cups all-purpose flour – see How to Measure Flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt – Reduce or omit if using salted butter.
- ยฝ cup nonperils sprinkles – Chirstmas colored
- 1ยฝ cups Christmas M&Ms, divided
- 1 cup chocolate chips – milk, semi-sweet, or dark chocolate chip
How to Make Christmas Chocolate Chip Cookies
- PREP. Preheat the oven to 350ยฐF. Lightly grease a baking sheet and set aside.
- BATTER. In a stand mixer (or with a hand mixer in a large bowl), cream ยฝ cup butter, ยฝ cup oil, 1 cup brown sugar, and 1 cup granulated sugar. Add 2 eggs and beat until fluffy.
- Add 3 cups flour, 1 teaspoon baking soda, 1 teaspoon baking powder, 1 teaspoon salt, and 1 teaspoon vanilla, and mix until incorporated.
- Chop ยฝ cup M&M’s and fold into cookie dough mixture along with ยฝ cup nonpareil sprinkles and 1 cup chocolate chips.
- BAKE. Use a medium cookie scoop to scoop dough, roll it into balls, and place it onto the prepared baking sheet. Use 1 cup whole M&M’s and 1 cup chocolate chips to top the cookie dough balls with. Bake for 9โ11 minutes.
- Let cookies sit on the cookie sheet for a few minutes, then remove to a rack to cool.

- 1ยฝ cups Christmas M&Ms, divided
- 2 cup chocolate chips, milk, semi-sweet or dark chocolate chip

- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Lightly grease a baking sheet and set aside.
- In a stand mixer (or with a hand mixer in a large bowl), cream butter, oil and both sugars. Add eggs and beat until fluffy.
- Add flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, and vanilla, and mix until incorporated.
- Chop ยฝ cup M&Ms and fold into cookie dough mixture along with sprinkles and 1/2 the chocolate chips.
- Use a medium cookie scoop to scoop dough, roll into balls and place onto the prepared baking sheet. Top with more whole M&Ms. Bake for 9โ11 minutes.
- Let cookies sit on the cookie sheet for a few minutes, then remove to a rack to cool.
