Notes

Best apples to use? We used tart Granny Smith apples, but McIntosh, Pink Lady, Honeycrisp, Empire, Cortland, or Braeburn apples can be used.
Make ahead of time. You can make these up to 2 hours before serving them.  Treat the apple chunks by dipping them in lemon juice or sprinkling them with Balls Fresh Fruit Powder to keep them from browning. Store them covered in the fridge until ready to set out and serve.
Store. I like to place any leftovers in a Tupperware container and store them in the fridge, where they should stay fresh for 2-3 days

Recipe FAQ

What variety of apples is best?

We like using tart granny smith apples to help balance out the sweetness of the Rolo candy, but any type of apple can be used.

Prevent apples from browning?

Once the apples have been cut the oxidization process begins and the apples will eventually brown. To help slow down the process sprinkle the sliced apples with Balls Fresh Fruit Powder, or dip them in lemon juice.

How to store mini caramel apple bites?

We like to place any leftovers in a Tupperware container and store them in the fridge, where they should stay fresh for 2-3 days.
