Over the years, we’ve come to find some go-to desserts for family gatherings and these cookie bars are at the top of the list!

We’ve decided you really can’t beat Chocolate Chip Cookies in bar form. You get all the delicious flavor of your favorite cookie, but it’s ready in only one batch! I love this recipe because it is so easy to make and is a big hit with a crowd. I like that you can easily keep all of these ingredients on hand and when you are in a pinch can make this recipe.

Seemed a little too gooey. I did mix the chocolate chips in the batter instead of just putting them on top I wonder if that’s why?

    1. Lil'Luna Team says:

You could always leave them in the oven for a minute or two longer. Every oven bakes slightly different. They will set up a bit as they cool off too.

  3. Cynthia Taylor says:

Why did you change this recipe???

    1. Lil'Luna Team says:

We are constantly retesting and updating the recipes to have our favorite/best version of our recipes.

      1. Sasha Leigh says:

I ended up putting in oven an extra 15 minutes. I mixed in chocolate chips the first time and thought that was why they were under done. Nope. Didn’t mix them in this time and still not cooked through. Might do 375 next time too…

  4. Caitlin says:

Is it supposed to be wobbly (jello like) after getting it out of the oven? 😵‍💫

    1. Lil'Luna Team says:

I’d say put it back in the oven a bit longer. They cookie bars will set so if they are a little gooey in the center when they come out that’s fine. But they shouldn’t be wobbly when they come out.

I used to all’s this recipe all the time. Even if you half it, like comments say, it’s still not the same recipe. I used to use one stick of butter and one cup of brown sugar. Could I have the old recipe?

  6. Debbie says:

Baked for 30 minutes and they still weren’t cooked all the way through. Not sure what happened

    1. Lil'Luna Team says:

Hmmm… every oven bakes a little differently. Elevation/altitude can affect baking too, so not totally sure. Hopefully they still turned out leaving them in a bit longer.

  7. Jean Tesinsky says:

These are great, my go to when I need to make something quickly for my Children or Grandchildren. In fact, I have a pan of them in the oven now!!! I get compliments on these from whomever tastes them, they are sooooo good! I have substituted white chocolate chips for a Grandson who likes white chocolate better and of course, they were yummy, too. Great recipe, try them, you won’t be disappointed.

    1. Lil'Luna Team says:

Oh I’m so glad to hear these are a hit! Thanks for sharing!

      1. Roxie Lueders says:

Ended up baking these for 42 minutes to get dona at 350° in a 9×13 pan. At 26 minutes they were soupy yet. I think baking time needs adjusting. We’re good once baked but took way longer than stated.

      2. Lil'Luna Team says:

        Thanks for the feedback!!

made them in culinary, turned out amazing (plus we added twix crushed up)

    1. Lil'Luna Team says:

Ooh I bet the addition of the Twix was delicious!

  9. Julie says:

    Love this recipe

It seems like it was for 8×8/ 9×9 pan last time I made it -has this been updated?
    9x13too big !
    Where’s the other directions?

    1. Lil'Luna Team says:

Yes, the post has been updated to fit a 9×13. If you still would like to make it in an 8×8, you’d just need to half the recipe.

      1. Re says:

Would the cook time be shorter?

      2. Lil'Luna Team says:

Yes, if you are halving the recipe, I’d start checking for doneness around 15 minutes.

  10. Krystle says:

Hi! Can I mix this by hand? I don’t have an electric mixer (it’s my first time baking) Thanks!

    1. Lil'Luna Team says:

      Yep! You absolutely can!

  11. Brittany says:

This has been my go-to chocolate chip cookie bar recipe for several years. I’ve tried others but always come back to this one. Just can’t get any better!

  12. Sandra L. Wendorf says:

Do these have to be warmed up to enjoy? Am wondering if they get dry nwhen completely cool.

Would like to try this, as making actual cookies is time consuming ( I usually cut large recipes in half for this reason ).

    1. Lil'Luna Team says:

Nope, you can eat them cool too. I like them both ways. They stay fresh for about 3 days on the counter. In fact, these freeze really great too so you can make them and freeze the extras for later. When ready to eat, just set them on the counter for a couple hours to thaw and they taste fresh as can be!

Made these for the 1st time for my family and my kids gobbled them up. Only thing I did different was I mixed in mini chocolate chips and they came out so soft and good.

    1. Lil'Luna Team says:

Yum!! Love the mini chocolate chips. Thanks so much for sharing and I’m glad to hear they were a hit!

I Googled “Friday night easy desserts,” and this was one of the top results – and I know why! Took no time to prep and bake, and they are deeeelish! No modifications needed. The family loves them & they’ll likely be gone before the end of the weekend. Thanks for sharing! ☺️

    1. Lil'Luna Team says:

I love these cookies, but I got them from somebody else on Pinterest. One glaring mistake you made was that you omitted adding the butter. I sincerely hope nobody ended up with a flour-y, horrible cookie because of that error. Please fix it so others can enjoy this as much as my family does. Also, I mix the chips in with the dough at the last moment & I think it’s much better than sprinkling them on top. Mixing them in the dough creates a chewy brownie-type cookie. Thanks for the recipe. It’s awesome. But please re-write it so nobody forgets the butter that may be cooling across the kitchen & forgot about it. It can happen.

    1. Kristyn Merkley says:

Glad you like them. The butter is there is in the recipe 🙂 They would be horrible without it!

This is one of the best and easiest desserts. We love it so much that I usually double it. I can’t wait to try it with m&m’s.

  22. Pam says:

I measured the ingredients exactly except for adding 2/3 cup chocolate chips instead of 1/2 cup. Unfortunately, my bars were flat and too moist. Do you think that was the problem or could it have been my oven temp? They were better at the edges than in the center. Thanks for any tips you can offer!

    1. Pam says:

I typed the above before realizing that I remembered the amount of chips incorrectly. I did use 3/4 cup. It was a fudge recipe that I made at the same time where I changed the amount of chips. So, I didn’t actually alter the ingredients. I am thinking my oven temp wasn’t hot enough. They taste great, though, even if they are flat. 😊

    2. Kristyn Merkley says:

I am thinking it needed to be in longer. Depending on where I am baking these, the time varies. Hope you will try them again 🙂

    1. Kristyn Merkley says:

They taste great, too!! Thank you so much 🙂

  32. Pam says:

A great recipe and easy to make. One problem. You forgot to say to add the melted butter. I ALMOST FORGOT. ADDED IT WHEN I WAS ALREADY STIRRING THE DRY INGREDIENTS IN.

    1. Kristyn Merkley says:

In step 2, you add the brown sugar, vanilla, & egg to the cooled melted butter 🙂

The best dessert that resembles a warm giant chocolate chip cookie! Only differeNce is its served as a bar with the chocolate chips on top. We like to serve it ice cream and sometimes hot fudge.

I mUst have done something horribly wrong because when i finished mixing everything and started to pour it into my 9×9 pan, i realized there was simply not enough batter to cover the bottom! I tried spreading it as much as i could but it waS spread so thin there were holes everywhere. I decided to double the recipe and add it to the same 9×9 pan. Then it came out fine?? I am seriously not a great cook or baker, so i know it HAS to be my fault somehow haha im always messing things up! I Triple read your recipe and i swear i made no errors! Story of my life though, things not working out quite precisely! Haha ? Tastes great though!!

    1. Kristyn Merkley says:

Oh, no I am sorry! It should be enough. I’m not sure why it didn’t??

  46. Roxanne onorato says:

Made these today. Turned into a fallen, greasy mess. We r at 9000 ft. So that probably had something to do with it. Might try again at a lower altitude.

    1. Kristyn Merkley says:

Oh. I am so sorry 🙁 That probably does. I know you need to cook longer with higher altitude. Hope you try again 🙂

  47. GBChelle says:

Did you mix by hand or use a hand/stand mixer

    1. Kristyn Merkley says:

I just mix these by hand 🙂 They are our favorite go-to!! Hope you try them!

I have made a lot of cookie bar or “congo” type bars. These are hands down the best ever!!!!!

    1. Kristyn Merkley says:

Yay!! Thank you for saying that!! I am so glad you think so 🙂

  49. Jeanne says:

Made these with my daughter yesterday and I honestly don’t think I’ll ever make regular cookies again! These are so easy and so soft and chewy. We’ll definitely be making these for a long time!!!

    1. Kristyn Merkley says:

Awe, thank you so much!! These are our favorite! I am so glad you think so, too!

  50. Melissa says:

Hello. You didn’t say if the brown sugar was supposed to be packed when measuring or not.

    1. Kristyn Merkley says:

I always just press it down a little. It doesn’t have to be completely packed down, just give it a little press 🙂 Enjoy!

  51. Sara says:

So I thought I halved this recipe and used the whole batch amount of butter!! Came out of the oven, tasted it and cried. But as my husband and I stared at it with sad and heavy hearts while I went to dump it in the trash he said, “what if we added oats?” So I stopped.. I smooshed up the baked bars and added a hand full of quick cooking oats, a sprinkle of old fashioned oats, mixed in a bit more brown sugar and whole milk so it resembled wet oats and back in the oven it went for another 20 mins.

    Out came heaven.

My question is…… how many servings is this? I came back to the recipe to find out to no avail. The pan is empty.????

    1. Kristyn Merkley says:

LOL! Way to go to your hubby! That sounds great! I do not know the amount of servings. I guess it just depends on how big or small you cut them. Thanks for sharing what you did!

  52. Dina says:

Delicious! Next time I make these I’m going to try to use white and brown sugar! Family wasn’t to keen on the molasses taste but I thought they were yum! ❤️

    1. Kristyn Merkley says:

Yay! Thank you so much for giving them a try! Glad you liked them!

  53. Dina says:

For how many portions is this recipe?

    1. Lil' Luna says:

Depending on how big you cut them, you could get at least a dozen. We usually double the recipe and put in a 9×13, because everyone loves them! Hope that helps and hope you like them!

Hello! I just found your site and love it! The picture of your daughter is so cute! I had a question about the recipe please. My cookie bar did not taste quite as good. The dough did not taste very good and I was wondering if you could advise me in what I might have done wrong? I cant remember if I used unslated or salted butter, could that have an impact? Thank you!

    1. Lil' Luna says:

Oh, thank you!! I always use unsalted butter and I take my eggs out beforehand, when I know I’m baking. Make sure your ingredients are fresh. Those are the tips I know. Hopefully, they’ll come out next time! Let me know!

Oh my goodness these chocolate chip cookie bars are fabulous!

    1. Lil' Luna says:

YES, they are:) I’m glad you think so!! Thanks for sharing!

  62. Ashley says:

I make these exactly according to the recipe, but I bake it in a cupcake pan. I started doing this 2 years ago when I first found the recipe. These make the best soft chewy chocolate chip cookie “cakes” ever. People ask me to make these all the time. One batch makes 11 or 12 cookies, but the baking time is less: 10-15 minutes until golden brown round the edges. Let sit in the pan for a minute or two when you remove it and don’t forget to spray the cupcake pan with cooking spray!

    1. Lil' Luna says:

Oh, that sounds so yummy!! I’ll have to try it as a cookie “cake”. Thanks so much for sharing your change!!

  63. Megan says:

I tried your recipie and got a mess. I followed it word for word and the middle is a mushy puddle and the outside is squishy and too greasy to eat. I’ve read other reviews that had issues but could find a fix. Do you have any idea??

    1. Lil' Luna says:

I’m not really sure what could have gone wrong? I do know that all ovens are different…some take longer, while others cook faster, so the time is shortened. Maybe try cooking a little longer? Leave in there for 30 minutes and maybe every minute or two after that, check it. Hope that helps! I’m sorry it was a mess!

  64. Chalene says:

    I want these right NOW!!!!!!

    1. Lil' Luna says:

LOL!! I know what you mean…they are the best and the perfect go-to dessert!!

  65. Tara says:

Should these be kept in the fridge?

    1. Lil' Luna says:

We don’t, but if there are leftovers we just cover with Saran Wrap. 😉

  66. Cathie says:

I live in England and would love to make these please can you give me the recipe in grand? Many thanks

  67. Dottie says:

Can you just use the refrigerated dough, put it in a pan & bake it?

    1. Lil' Luna says:

I’m sure that will work, but I’ve never tried it. We just love the homemade cookie dough so much better. 😉

  68. Cassie says:

This did not turn out. I checked it out at 20 min and it was completely liquid still. I put it in for over 40 minutes and it still was runny and not done. Not sure what I did wrong.

Yum! Yum! Yum! My only problem is that theyre very thin. Maybe I added too much chocolate…..But these are a keeper!

  70. Stephanie says:

I made these last night &they were delicious!Thank you! I will make many more times! Yum

    1. Lil' Luna says:

So happy to hear that Stephanie! Thanks for stopping by!!

  71. Brenda says:

Hi I just made these and they are a bit greasy. I followed the recipe exactly. I think the butter ratio is too much.

    1. Lil' Luna says:

I’m sorry they were too greasy for you. Maybe next time minus a few Tablespoons. 😉

  72. Lori says:

    Hello!
I’m looking forward to making (and eating!) your chocolate chip cookie bars. Can the recipe be simply doubled for a 9 X 13 pan?

    1. Lil' Luna says:

Yes, we double it all the time and cook in a 9×13. 😉

  73. Vini says:

Hi!! Tried this today as we’ve never had cookie bars before. Tasted good….but is the centre supposed to be slightly underdone? Is that the way it always is?

    1. Lil' Luna says:

What size of pan did you use? The centers are a little more gooey but not real underdone. They’re more soft and chewy. 😉

  74. SandyBB says:

Thanks so much! Way easier than making cookies 🙂

    1. Lil' Luna says:

I agree! We made them last night again with the DelightFUL chocolate chips that are filled with caramel. Definitely a new favorite way to make them. 😉

  75. Chloe says:

Hi just wondering if you can use self raising flour instead of the baking powder and soda as I don’t own either of these!

    Thanks

    1. Lil' Luna says:

Unfortunately, I’ve never tried it with the self raising flour. You could give it a try, but I’ve never made it without the powder and soda. If you try it, let me know. Would love to know how it goes. 😉

  76. Kavita says:

Can u give eggless reciepe too as I’m a pure vegetarian.

  77. Chuz says:

These look delicious. Are they prepared with an electric mixer, or mixed by hand?

    1. Lil' Luna says:

We just mix by hand. 😉

  78. Debbie says:

    Can’t wait to try theses

    1. Lil' Luna says:

You’ll love them!! Definitely one of our “go-to” dessert recipes. 😀

  79. Patricia says:

Hey, just made the cookie bar recipe…I think it could use a lot more flour and possibly less butter! Just wondering if the recipe needs to be checked???

    1. Lil' Luna says:

We’ve been making this for years and it always turns out perfect. All recipes though can be modified to your liking. 😉

These were perfect for the sweet tooth I was having! Quick and easy with hardly no mess. I didn’t have a the right pan but this worked in a rectangular one perfectly! Great recipe! This one is a keeper in my recipe box!

    1. Lil' Luna says:

SO happy to hear that, Jennifer!! We are all about simple and quick desserts. 😀

  81. Annie says:

Hey. These look SOOO soft and chewy. I’ll have to try the recipe out. But is there a shortcut way to make these using cake box mix?? I coupon and have stocked up on a few boxed mixes awhile back. Would love to use them up. Thanks.

I was looking for a chocolate chip cooke to make tonight that wasn’t my usual (very involved) recipe and these were great! The only thing I will do differently next time is add more chocolate chips, but that may just be me! Thanks!

    1. Niku says:

Hi. My family loves these cookie bars but everytime I make them they rise nicely and then fall. Anyone know why? Am I over mixing and putting too much air in there?

  83. Greg says:

With 2 daughters and a grandchild, and my sweettooth i am always looking for an easy, tasty snack. I cant wait to digging into these recipes!

  84. Laura says:

    These were delicious! Thanks!

  85. Rachelle says:

    1. Lil' Luna says:

YAY!! So glad you guys liked them. They’re definitely easy and delicious and we make them ALL the time. Thanks for stopping by. 🙂

  86. Amanda says:

Great recipe and super easy to make. I always have the ingredients on hand! My friends were hooked and wanting more, I might have to make a double batch next time!

  87. Bridget says:

I made these cookie bars and they turned out great! I used 1 cup of all purpose flour and one cup of white whole wheat flour. I used mini mms instead of chocolate chips. The whole pan was gobbled up in one night. Thanks for sharing this easy and delicious recipe.

    1. Lil' Luna says:

LOVE the idea of adding M&Ms instead!! YUM! So glad everyone liked them. 😉

  88. Christi says:

I read so many reviews trying to see if anyone had doubled the recipe, and made it the the Pampered Chef Large Bar Pan (about 11×16). Well – no one had but I took a chance… and it’s the perfect size for double this recipe. If you tripled the recipe and put it in a bar pan it would definitely run over the edges while baking since the lip is only about 1 inch high!! It took about 20-25 minutes to bake still… until the center was done!!

    1. Lil' Luna says:

Ooooh – good to know!! I will need to add that to the recipe so others know as well. Thanks! 😀

  89. LucindaJ says:

I made this tonight and it tastes yummy but is really, really gooey in the middle although the edges look like they’re starting to burn. I don’t have a 9×9 pan so I used 8×8 but they’re obviously too thick. Have you ever used a 7×11 brownie pan for this recipe? I wonder if I should have used that instead.

    1. Christi says:

      I used a 7×11 the first time I made them… worked perfectly!!

      1. Lil' Luna says:

Glad they worked great. They’re such a great and simple treat, huh!? Thanks for stopping by!

  90. Kristen says:

Made these bars for the first time tonight because I needed a quick treat for some company that was coming over. I was worried how this recipe would come out since I hadn’t tried it yet. Turned out perfectly! Very chocolatey, chewy, and absolutely delicious! Thank you!:)

    1. Kristen says:

Eeek! Sorry for my double comment. I thought I accidentally deleted the first one. Haha

  91. Kristen says:

found this recipe on Pinterest. Needed to make a treat for some company that was coming over. Made these for the first time (always risky business when you’re using a new recipe that you haven’t tried and tested yet). These bars were delicious! Came out perfectly! I’m holding on to this one 🙂 thank you!

  92. Michelle@TheRibbonRetreat says:

Ohhhhh yummmy! I can’t wait to make these little bits of yummy goodness for my little fam!

    1. Lil' Luna says:

They will love them, Michelle! Seriously – an ALL-TIME family favorite treat!!

  93. Heather D says:

These look so yummy!!! I’m diabetic, so I’ll have to alter it a little, but I think it would make a nice little bite if I “need” to cheat! 😉

    1. Lil' Luna says:

Oh, they are definitely addicting! It’s a great recipe for a little “cheat.” 😉 Thanks for stopping by!

  94. cindy3539 says:

Oh, my goodness! I just made these. They are fabulous! All the gooey deliciousness of chocolate chip cookies without the hassle of make individual cookies. I mixed the chips in with the batter. Thanks for posting!

    1. Lil' Luna says:

We LOVE them too. They are one of the “go-to” desserts when I need a quick one. 😉

  95. Stacy Myers says:

Ohmygoodness. These were AH-mazing!!!! Going straight into my Favorites file. And so much easier than making cookies!!!!!!

  96. Jessi says:

These are delicious!! A super quick alternative to chocolate chip cookies. Yum! I was unknowingly out of chocolate chips so I used chocolate chunks and mixed them right in. I have some more in the oven right now!! 🙂

    1. Lil' Luna says:

I just love hearing that they were a hit!! We LOVE these pan chewies and make them TOOOO often because they are so easy and just so delicious!

  97. Brittany says:

I am making these right now for the second time, so good!!! We added a scoop of peanut butter, and it adds that hint of peanut butter and makes them even more delicious!! Tonight I used self rising flour because I didn’t realize we had run out of regular flour… Don’t know what it will do but I’m sure they will still be yummy!

    1. Lil' Luna says:

Curious how these turned out… I’ll also have to try these with peanut butter – sounds like a great addition!!

      1. Brittany says:

They came out a little different than the first time because of the flour, but still really yummy!

  98. Rebekah says:

Just a note for people like me. I transcribed the recipe with two words mixed. I put sifted flour, instead of flour sifted. HUGE DIFFERENCE. I looked at it and thought, “Wow, that is just enough flour.” But, I wasn’t smart enough to go with my own instincts. I’m a huge proponent of following a recipe exactly the way it was written the first time. So my own mistake bit me in the butt!

    1. Lil' Luna says:

So sorry about that!! If I ever used flour that is sifted for any recipe I always measure it first and THEN sift. Hopefully you can try it out again. 🙂

    2. Debi says:

How long should i cook if doubling recipe?

      1. Kristyn Merkley says:

Depending on the oven, but I usually cook them close to 30 min when I double it.

  99. Sheena says:

Must we preheat the oven ?

    1. Lil' Luna says:

Yes… it needs to be 350 before you can put it in. 🙂

  100. Tammy Lewis says:

I have these in the oven now….my home smells amazing and brought my hubby out of his snoring slumber lumbering into the kitchen. 🙂 I doubled the recipe to take some to my coworkers..and they look amazing…mine weren’t greasy at all…make sure your melted butter is completely cooled…and make sure your using real butter not margarine ..just a thought …mine turned out beautiful..hope there’s some left for my Coworkers..

    1. Lil' Luna says:

LOL!! I hope the co-workers loved them too!! 😀

  101. Sarah says:

I just made these, they came out wonderful!

  102. Elisabeth says:

Can you add m&m’s to it?

    1. Lil' Luna says:

      Don’t see why not – I think they’d be a GREAT addition! 😀

      1. Elisabeth says:

Awesome! I was gonna add the pink, red, and white m&m’s for valentines day. This is so easy and fun!

      2. Lil' Luna says:

That’s perfect! I’m doing adding the Valentine M&Ms to my Chocolate Oat bars to make them a little more festive too.;)

      3. Elisabeth says:

I just made them with the m&m’s and they look delicious! They will be put to the test tomorrow. Thank you so much for sharing this really easy recipe

      4. Lil' Luna says:

Curious what everyone thought… hope you guys liked them!!

  103. Hailey says:

Hi I am 11 years old. And I love to bake !!!! This was soooo good. I loved it

    1. Lil' Luna says:

Hi Hailey! I’m so glad you love to bake and that you loved these!! Hope you can try more of my recipes. Most are very simple and very delicious. 🙂

  104. Candy says:

OMGGG!!! this was the best thing ever. The flavour is a combination of a brownie and chocolate chip cookies! I was just wondering how this would turn out if you tripled the recipe (because some recipe just don’t turn out good when you)?

    1. Lil' Luna says:

Hmmmm, not sure. I’ve only doubled it before and put it in a 9×13. I think maybe tripling I would put it in an 11×14, and I think they’d turn out fine. 🙂

      1. Candy says:

Also, have you ever tried making the dough at night, leaving it in the fridge overnight, and then cooking it in the morning?

      2. Lil' Luna says:

Unfortunately, I’ve never tried that before. :/

  105. Amanda says:

Just made these last night for my two boys (three if you count my husband!) and they LOVED them. So simple and so good. Thanks so much for posting this! A great recipe for those of us who are baking “challenged”!

    1. Lil' Luna says:

So glad your family liked them, Amanda. They are very easy and one of those go-to desserts my family makes at least once a month. 😉 Thank you for stopping by!

  106. Gittel says:

Hi! For your cookie bar recipes, how many servings is it suppose to be?

    1. Lil' Luna says:

This is made in a 9×9 and makes about 9 servings. 🙂

      1. Krystle says:

        5 stars
The recipe says 9×13 dish. Are we supposed to use a 9×9?

      2. Lil'Luna Team says:

Hi! We’ve updated this recipe since that comment, so it is a 9×13 now. 🙂

  107. Betsy Pfaller says:

I tried these a few days ago and mine were really greasy. I used 1 cup of sifted flour and I think it should have been 1 cup of flour, sifted. Can you advise if you sifted then measured or measured then sifted.

    1. Lil' Luna says:

Hi Betsy… you are correct. It’s suppose to say 1 cup flour, sifted. I will change the recipe now. 🙂

  108. Natasha says:

Making these for the 2nd time with white whole wheat flour I ground myself! The first time I put them in the small pampered chef bar pan & that was a big mistake! It overflowed all inside my oven & my kids were devastated. DH & I sent them to bed sad & we, being the good parents that we are, ate what we could from the middle before soaking the crust off the stone bar pan. Yes. It was ThAT good. This time it’s in the oven in a regulation pan. We love it.

    1. Lil' Luna says:

YAY! SO glad you love it and sorry for the mess it made the first time. Hopefully the second batch turns out better. 🙂

      1. Jennifer Reiter says:

My hubby asked for a cookie cake for his birthday. These were even better than the traditional cookies cakes I’ve made before. Thank goodness it makes a 9×9. Leftovers would be dangerous.

      2. Lil' Luna says:

Comments like yours make my day! So glad you guys liked the recipe as much as we do!! Happy Birthday to your hubby! 😀

  109. Katie S. says:

How do they do in a large sheet cake pan? I’m assuming you’d double the recipe you’d use for a 9 x 13 size. Will they cook in the middle without burning the edges? I’m wanting to try this today, but I just might do two cake pans just to be safe.

  110. Kami says:

These look delish! I have a person question…Is your daughter’s name with a long E or short E? What is it short for? We are having a baby girl and thinking about the name Evelyn and calling her Evvy, but not sure how to spell the nickname.

    thanks!

    1. Lil' Luna says:

They are delish – you should try them!! As for the name, her real name is Eveline (ev-uh-line) and her nickname is Evie (Ee-vee). We LOVE the name. 🙂

  111. Jeannie says:

I made the chocolate bars twice and they turned out like Kristi’s. Is there a trick?

    1. amye says:

I am in the same boat. I just made a batch and its like chocolate chip soup…way too much liquid. I think the ratio of flour to sugar to butter is off. Can you double check your recipe to see if you mis-typed something?

  112. Lori L. says:

Just found these pinned on Pinterest and decided to make them. They turned out perfectly! I topped mine with chocolate chips, pecans and a few leftover toffee bits….yummy!

  113. Kristi says:

I just got done makin these but mine don’t look like the picture. Are they a greasy cookie bar? THey look so good on the picture!

  114. Katie {Sweet Rose Studio} says:

These look amazing Kristyn! Definitely on my must-bake list!

    1. Lil' Luna says:

Let me know if you try them – they are seriously our FAV!!! PS – It was great seeing you last night!! So glad I was able to come so I could see you gals one last time before we leave. 🙂

  115. Cindy Harris says:

I might have to make these–immediately! They look wondderful.

  116. Liz @ I Heart Vegetables says:

I just stumbled across this on pinterest! Those cookie bars sound amazing!

  117. Melody says:

I just want to thank you for your recipes. I have tried several and they are always a hit with my family. Now, whenever I am asked to make something I always check your site first.

  118. Amanda W. says:

I saw these on my Facebook feed and decided to make them today since I’m at home sick (I needed something comforting!). So good and so much easier than cookies since I didn’t have to stand there plopping out balls of cookie dough. Yum!

  119. Karla says:

Wow!! These look and sound amazing!! These take me back to being a kid when my grandmother made some kind of cookie bar. Now I’m off to find that recipe 🙂

Please come share these on Much Ado About Monday on Huckleberry Love!

  120. Julie @ Julie's Eats & Treats says:

Oh I love these bars! And that’s exactly what my daughter does when she smiles. The scrunched nose smile 🙂

  121. Dezi A says:

Oh my goodness, your little girl is TOO cute! And I love cookies in bar form, can’t wait to try these!

  122. buttercream bakehouse says:

All of these bars look great. I especially love the chocolate chip one that looks uncooked in the inside. I love raw cookie dough and underbaking chocolate chip cookies. I am sure it’s just as delicious in a bar. YUM

  123. Dorothy @ Crazy for Crust says:

These look rich and delish. What a great fast bar!

    1. Lil' Luna says:

Thanks, Dorothy! We are always looking for quick and yummy desserts. Have a great week, friend! XO

    2. Kelsey h says:

My only complaint would be to specify using light brown sugar. I made this with dark brown and light brown, and it truly makes a difference. Otherwise one of the best, easiest desserts.

  124. Crystal says:

Looks so delicious!! I love your daughter’s crinkled nose smile. So cute!! Thanks for the recipe!!

    1. Lil' Luna says:

      Thanks, Crystal!! 😀

  125. Britney Mills says:

Ummm….those look absolutely AMAZING! Chocolate chip cookies/bars are my craving of choice right now….Thanks for sharing!

      3. Lisa says:

        Great recipe!

      4. Kristyn Merkley says:

        Thank you so much!!

  126. Lil' Luna says:

Hi Celena. I’m sorry you had problems with the recipe. Was your butter all melted? And what size of pan did you use?

  127. Celena says:

Luna, I used a lightly grease 9×9 and my butter was melted and started cooling/turning back to solid. The edges were perfect, the top of the whole pan was starting to turn to cookie but the middle/bottom was like soup 🙁 It was still delicious!! We ate around about a 4 inch square!!!

  128. Lil' Luna says:

I’m sorry you had problems with this. We usually make it in the 9×9 without any problems or double it and put it in the 9×13. The edges usually do get a little more cooked but never over cooked and the middles are nice and soft. Did they still taste okay?

  129. Lil' Luna says:

Sorry, Lenore! We’ve never had a problem with them but I highly encourage my readers to modify recipes to their liking. 😉
