Taco Dip Recipe Ingredients

  • Cream cheese (8 ounces, softened): Creates a rich and creamy base.

  • Taco seasoning mix (1 package, 1.25-ounce): Delivers bold taco flavor quickly and easily. Use store-bought package or 2-3 tablespoons Homemade Taco Seasoning mix
  • Iceberg lettuce (¼ head, shredded): Adds crisp texture and freshness.
  • Cheddar cheese (1 cup, shredded): Adds sharp, melty flavor. Or use a Mexican cheese blend, Colby Jack cheese, or another favorite.
  • Green bell pepper (1, chopped): Adds crunch and a fresh bite.
  • Tomatoes (3, chopped): Adds juiciness and brightness.
  • Black olives (1 can, 2.25-ounce, drained): Adds salty flavor and classic taco dip appeal.
  • More favorite toppings: Black beans, refried beans, scallions, jalapeños, avocado, green onions, cilantro, or seasoned ground beef.
  • Serve with: Tortilla Chips, corn chips, Fritos, pita chips, Flour Tortillas, crusty bread, crackers, and vegetables like carrots or celery sticks.

How to Make Taco Dip

CREAM LAYER. In a medium bowl, use a hand mixer to combine 8 ounces of softened cream cheese, 16 ounces of sour cream, and 1 packet of taco seasoning. Spread the mixture in a 9-inch serving dish.

TOPPINGS. Top it with ¼ head of shredded lettuce, 1 cup shredded cheese, 3 chopped tomatoes, 1 chopped green bell pepper, and sprinkle on 1 can black olives.

Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate until ready to serve.

  • Spread the base evenly for clean, even layers. This is one pretty dip (and even more delicious).
  • Drain tomatoes well to prevent excess moisture.
  • Add the toppings shortly before serving to keep lettuce crisp.
  • Chill the cream mixture for 30 minutes before serving for the best flavor.
