This 7 layer bean dip is a must-have at every function! It has loads of flavor and all your favorite dip ingredients!
7-layer bean dip is our classic go-to for bean dip recipes, but we also love to make Cream Cheese Bean Dip or Black Bean Dip.
We Love This Family Favorite!
Our family loves to get together and eat all food, but Mexican food is our favorite! With those main dishes like Beef Enchiladas and Beef Empanadas, we always have some scrumptious sides to go along with it like this 7 layer bean dip.
It is one of those appetizers that we always seem to have when we are eating Mexican food, especially for Cinco de Mayo.
Why we love it:
- Quick and easy. This bean dip comes together in minutes!
- Customizable. Easily change up the layers to your personal preferences.
- A favorite. It’s perfect for summer potlucks and family gatherings or for any Mexican meal – it’s definitely a favorite Mexican appetizer.

Serving Suggestions
We like to serve 7 layer Mexican dip with chips, and there are so many different kinds that work well!
- Our favorite chips are Juanita’s. They’re light, airy, and crispy!
- We also like Tostino’s Cantina Thin and Crispy Chips and Fritos.
- If we have time, we’ll make Homemade Tortilla Chips (fried), or Baked Tortilla Chips.
- You can also spoon this dip onto dishes like Chicken Tacos or Green Chile Chicken Enchiladas
Storing Tips
The dip needs at least an hour to chill before serving but can be made up to 24 hours in advance.
- Make ahead of time. If covered with plastic wrap, this layered bean dip recipe can be made up to 24 hours in advance. Wait to add chopped tomatoes and the greens (cilantro, green onions, etc) until right before serving.
- STORE. Leftover 7-layer dip can be stored in an airtight container for up to 48 hours in the fridge. The guac makes it harder to last longer, but it can be enjoyed the next day.
