Barbecue Chicken Pizza

Delicious Barbecue Chicken Pizza recipe { lilluna.com }

Every Friday night it’s Pizza and Movie Night in the Merkley home. We sometimes do homemade…. sometimes we pick up one. Not too long ago, we decided to try out a new recipe for a homemade version of Barbecue Chicken Pizza (a kind of pizza we had never tried before). Let me say that I am SO glad I decided to give this a try, because it was the best homemade pizza we have ever tried! The husband agreed, and between the two of us we almost ate the whole thing by ourselves. We are usually a little boring and just add tomatoes and cheese, but adding the barbecue sauce for the pizza sauce, along with cubed chicken and cilantro took our pizza to a whole new level of delicious-ness. We decided to do a Barbecue pizza in honor of KC Masterpiece’s 35th Anniversary. They released a limited-edition sauce – KC Masterpiece® Kansas City Classic barbecue sauce that was perfect for the recipe and made this pizza the perfect blend of cheese, bread and barbecue! The best part of all was that this pizza was so easy to make! We loved it so much that we’re adding it into the meal planner because it was so good and so simple to throw together. Here is what you’ll need to make it too:

INGREDIENTS:

– Homemade Pizza Dough or 1 13.8 oz can of pre-made Pizza Dough (we used the pre-made to make it more simple)

– Rotisserie Chicken (chopped in cubes) or 1 1/2 cups cubed chicken

– 1 1/4 cups KC Masterpiece® Kansas City Classic barbecue sauce (divided)

– 3 pieces of cooked bacon (chopped)

– 1/3 cup cilantro (chopped)

– 3 cups Mozzarella Cheese

– garlic salt

DIRECTIONS:

 1. Begin by cubing your chicken and tossing it 1/2 cup barbecue sauce.

2. Bake Pizza Dough for 5 minutes.

3. While Pizza Dough is still warm, add 1/2 cup pizza sauce for the sauce (add more or less if desired).

4. Add cheese, barbecue chicken, cilantro and bacon to your pizza. Sprinkle with garlic salt.

5. Bake pizza an additional 8-10 minutes or until cheese is melted and dough is golden brown.

6. Drizzle with more barbecue sauce, and ENJOY!

It’s that simple!
