  • If you can’t find pretzel snaps, use pretzel twists.
  • I like how the tart Granny Smith apples taste with the sweet chocolate, but McIntosh, Pink Lady, Honeycrisp, Empire, Cortland, or Braeburn apples can be used.
  • If you’re not serving this snack right away, treat the apple slices with lemon juice or Balls Fresh Fruit Powder to keep them from browning.
Make ahead of time. You can make these up to 2 hours before serving them; store them covered in the fridge until ready to set out and serve.

Recipe FAQ

What variety of apples is best?

We like using tart Granny Smith apples to help balance out the sweetness of the Rolo candy, but any type of apple can be used.

Prevent apples from browning?

Once the apples have been cut, the oxidation process begins, and the apples will eventually brown. To help slow down the process, sprinkle the sliced apples with Balls Fresh Fruit Powder, or dip them in lemon juice.

How to store mini caramel apple bites?

We like to place any leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge, where they should stay edible for 2-3 days.

    1. Lil' Luna Team says:

Each Rolo is typically wrapped in foil, that direction is just a reminder to unwrap them before putting them on the pretzels.
