For a spooky fun Halloween dinner whip up a flaky crescent mummy pizza topped with olive eyes for a playful touch.
Festive and Delicious!
The Merkley family goes all out for Halloween. We not only decorate our house from top to bottom, but our favorite recipes also get a festive touch! (Just check out our Halloween Snacks and Halloween Drinks for Kids and you’ll get the idea.) 😉
It wasn’t too long ago that we created a Halloween Pizza that we all love, but we wanted to do another festive version to make a Mummy Pizza. The result was better than we could have imagined.
Not only was this crescent mummy pizza super easy to make, but it was so tasty and the kids gave it 2 big thumbs up. We hope that you can add this to the dinner list in October for a little more fun.
WHY WE LOVE IT:
- Easy prep. Use already-made ingredients, simply roll, fill, and fold!
- Festive dish. The overlapping strips turn this Halloween dinner idea into an adorable mummy complete with olive eyes.
- Tasty. Keep it classic or fill your mummy with all your favorite pizza toppings.
Ingredients
- PREP TIME: 20 minutes
- COOK TIME: 16 minutes
- 1 (8-ounce) can crescent dough sheet – or 8 ounce can of crescent rolls
- ¼ cup pizza sauce – store-bought or Homemade Pizza Sauce
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese – or pizza cheese blend
- 32 pepperoni – Replace some pepperonis with crumbled sausage, bacon bits, jalapenos, and other favorite pizza toppings.
- 1 egg
- 1 tablespoon water
- pizza seasoning – sprinkle on to taste. Use store-bought or homemade Pizza Seasoning
- grated parmesan cheese
- 2 medium pitted ripe olives, sliced – ripe olive slices can be replaced with sliced black olives from a can or use large candy eyeballs, or two mini pepperoni slices.
How to Make Mummy Pizza
- PREP. Heat oven to 375°F. Line a large cookie sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
- Unroll the 8-oz package of crescent squares onto a baking sheet making sure the long side of the pan is facing you.
- ASSEMBLE. Brush ¼ cup pizza sauce onto the middle of the dough and sprinkle with 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese down the middle. Add 32 pepperoni slices (4 across, 8 down) on top of the cheese, overlapping a little bit. Sprinkle with pizza seasoning.
- Using kitchen scissors (or pizza cutter), make cuts 1 inch part and about 2 inches deep onto both sides of the dough to within ½ inch of the filling. Fold up the bottom edge of the dough, and alternately cross strips of dough over the filling. Fold up the last edge of the dough making sure to seal the end.
- BAKE. In a small bowl, make an egg wash by whisking together 1 tablespoon of water and 1 egg brushing dough with the egg mixture, and sprinkle with grated parmesan cheese. Add 2 sliced olives for eyes.
- Bake for 16-20 minutes or until golden brown
Using a sharp knife cut rectangles about 2 inches thick to serve. You can eat with your hands or with a fork and knife. Serve with warm marinara, if desired.

Notes
- Whether you wish to bake this ahead of time or freeze leftovers you can do so using the following:
- Freeze: Allow the pizza to cool and wrap it tightly in plastic wrap, then place them in an airtight freezer-safe container, or bag, or wrap it again with foil.
- Reheating: To reheat, thaw frozen in the refrigerator overnight, then warm it up in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 15-20 minutes, or until heated through.
Nutrition
Nutrition information is automatically calculated, so should only be used as an approximation.
Cut carefully. When cutting the strips for the mummy bandages, leave ½ inch of uncut dough around the filling. This will ensure a full base that wraps up the side a little. If you cut too close to the filling, then the base will be open to leakage.
Don’t overfill. If you overfill the center, the crescent roll strips will not be enough to cover the filling and keep it from oozing out.
Store leftover pizza in an airtight container in the refrigerator for about 1-2 days.
