This steak taco recipe is so easy to make and includes several healthy and fresh ingredients that make it a favorite family dinner idea!
Why we love them!

- Weeknight dinner. I use ingredients I usually have on hand, and it takes no time at all to get this Mexican dinner on the table!
- Make it your own! It is also really easy to mix it up. Change up the filling or the toppings or even the marinade.
Ingredients
- sirloin steaks – We used sirloin steak for this recipe, but you can easily use flank steak, skirt steak, sirloin steak, rib eye, or New York strip steak.
- Italian dressing
- Worcestershire sauce
- garlic pepper
- salt
- cheese – Switch up the cheese to cotija cheese instead of cheddar or Mexican cheese.
- corn tortillas
- toppings – cotija, cilantro, shredded cheese, radishes, etc.
Add a zesty twist to your marinade by squeezing fresh lime juice, lemon, or orange juice into it. The citrus flavors will infuse into the steak. Our Fajita Marinade recipe is also great for this!
How to Make Steak Tacos
- MARINATE. Add the dressing and sauce to an airtight container. Rub salt and garlic salt onto the steak, then marinade in an easy steak marinade for tacos for a few hours. Keep refrigerated.
- COOK. To let the marinade permeate the steak you will need to let it sit for at least 30-60 minutes and no longer than 24 hours. Remove the steak from the fridge 30 minutes before cooking. Cook steak to preference.
- Tender. Only flip the steak once while grilling. Let the steak rest on a cutting board after taking it off the grill. The steak will continue to cook a bit and the juices will distribute.
- BUILD YOUR TACO! Slice the steak against the grain into cubes or strips and add to tortillas. Add cheese and any other favorite toppings.

Storing
- Make ahead of time. Put the marinating steak in the freezer for up to 3 months to use at a future date. Thaw in the fridge.
- STORE. Place leftovers of the best steak taco recipe in an airtight container in the fridge for 2-3 days. Reheat on a pan in the oven or in the microwave.
- FREEZE. If the carne asada street tacos do not have any toppings, aside from cheese, wrap each taco in plastic and place them all in a Ziploc bag to be frozen. Freeze for up to 3 months. Thaw, reheat, and enjoy.
- To reheat. I like reheating leftover steak in a pan along with a bit of olive oil, but if you are in a hurry you can reheat using a microwave.
