Snickers apple salad is a sweet treat, filled with texture and flavor! Bright pops of apple perfectly complement chewy chunks of Snickers.
It may be called a salad, but this Snickers Salad is definitely a dessert. It’s similar to our best-loved Ambrosia Salad or Pistachio Salad.
Everyone Loves it!
It’s definitely not as healthy as a green salad, but I can promise you this Snickers Salad tastes a lot better!
Why we love it:
- It’s Really a Dessert. It’s called salad, but it’s truly a dessert and we aren’t complaining.
- Like a Caramel Apple. If you love those, you’ll love this!
- Great for Outings. Everyone goes nuts for this at potlucks, family get-togethers, BBQs in the summer, or even celebrating caramel apple weather in the fall.
- Can be Made Ahead. Make this up to 1 day ahead of time.
Whether you call it Caramel Apple Salad, Apple Snickers Salad, Candy Salad or Snickers Salad – it’s sure to be loved by all!
Ingredients
- vanilla instant pudding – Be sure to buy INSTANT vanilla pudding mix. Also note that when you combine the dry pudding mix with the ½ cup of milk, it will resemble more of a paste texture, rather than a soft pudding mixture.
- Cook-n-serve pudding will not set when made using the recipe instructions, so do not use – it will make the salad more runny.
- milk – We suggest using whole or 2% milk for this recipe.
- cool whip – We prefer homemade whipped cream, but cool whip works great and is easy.
- Granny Smith apples – See below for other apples to use
- Snickers bars
- caramel sauce – Homemade or from the bottle.
Best Apples to Use
It entirely depends on your preference. I like using a more tart apple to balance out the sweetness of the other ingredients but choose an apple that is firm and bruise-free.
- Sweet. Gala, Golden Delicious, Fuji, Honeycrisp, or Red Delicious apples
- Tart. Granny Smith, Cortland, Melrose, or Winesap apples
- Sweet and tart. Jazz, Pink Lady, or Jonagold apples
How to make SnickerS Salad
Making this Snickers caramel apple salad is as simple as it gets.
- COMBINE. In a large bowl, whisk the milk and instant pudding mix, then fold in the whipped topping.
- Cut up apples and Snickers candy bars into bite-size pieces, and mix them in.
- Drizzle Caramel Sauce on top. Serve cold or layer, and serve cold.
Variations
Get creative with this Snickers salad and adjust it to your favorite flavor profiles.
- Pudding flavor. Change the pudding flavor: white chocolate or butterscotch pudding.
- Candy bar. Try changing the candy bar type: Milky Way, Mars Bars, or Twix.
- Toppings. Drizzle Chocolate Syrup on top, add mini chocolate chips, or sprinkle with chopped walnuts or pecans.
Keep Apples from Browning
Here are a few ways to keep apples from browning, note that some may alter the flavor of the apple Snicker salad:
- Lemon or lime juice. Add 1 tablespoon of lemon juice to 1 cup of water. Soak the apple slices for 3-5 minutes. Drain, rinse, and pat dry.
- Use Ball’s Fresh Fruit or another ascorbic acid powder. This can usually be found in the food storage/canning section at the grocery store.
- Soak in ginger ale for 3-5 minutes. Drain, rinse, and pat dry.
- Saltwater. Mix 1-2 teaspoons of salt into 1 quart of water. Soak apples for 3-5 minutes. Drain, rinse, and pat dry.
- Using a very sharp knife to cut the apples also helps.
storing info
- Make ahead of time. Make this Snicker salad recipe up to a day in advance. The coating of the Whipped Cream will help keep the apples from browning, but to be extra cautious, pretreat the apples (with previous suggestions), before mixing up the recipe.
- STORE. Keep leftover Snicker apple salad covered, in the fridge, for 2-3 days. Over time, the extra moisture from the apples will begin causing the whipped cream to separate. It is still safe to eat. Give it a good stir or add a bit extra whipped cream to help smooth it out.

The adds are totally annoying and I skipped your recipe because of it
This is such a yummy salad/dessert! I was in a pinch and needed a quick easy side fruit salad and this was a hit! Everyone loved it! We used Granny Smith apples and the tart with the sweet ingredients was so good! Definitely a go to recipe.
What candy bar can REPLACE snickers? Family member with PEANUT allergy
The possibilities are endless! You can add whatever you like 😉
I usually make it with milky way instead of Snickers because my SIL has a peanut allergy
That’s a great idea for allergies! I bet the Milky Way tastes really yummy too!
A Mars bar is a Snickers bar without peanuts. They also make a Snickers bar with almonds instead of peanuts. Hope this helps 🙂
