We LOVE a good Monte Cristo Sandwich (it’s one of our Disneyland favorites). So, of course, we made a mini version!
What’s not to love about a salty/sweet sandwich on a fluffy roll dusted with powdered sugar? Dip it in a raspberry sauce to make it even more like the original (but we love this version with just a hint of sweetness).
Their smaller slider size makes it easy to have one or two as an appetizer or more for a full meal. We know this recipe will be a huge hit with all of your holiday and/or party guests!
These sliders are as good as they are EASY to make, similar to our Ham and Cheese Sliders and Buffalo Chicken Sliders!
Why we think you’ll love it:
- A simple version of a favorite. Enjoy all the flavors of a Monte Cristo but make several servings all at once!
- Makes a large batch. This is a great way to feed a crowd. It makes a pan-full perfect as an appetizer or main dish.
- A hint of sweetness. This savory sandwich is dusted in powdered sugar for a sweet touch. Pair these sliders with fruit jam for even more sweetness!

Monte Cristo Slider Ingredients
- Sweet dinner rolls (24) – These soft, slightly sweet rolls give that classic Monte Cristo vibe and hold the gooey layers without falling apart. We use slider buns or Hawaiian rolls.
- Deli-sliced honey ham (ยฝ pound) – Ham adds savory sweetness and plenty of meaty bite in every slider
- Deli-sliced smoked turkey (ยฝ pound) – The turkey balances the ham with gentle smokiness and lean protein.
- Sliced Swiss cheese (ยฝ pound) – The cheese melts creamy and stretchy, bringing a nutty flavor that ties the meats together.
- Butter, melted (ยฝ cup) – The butter helps the tops turn glossy and golden while carrying flavor across the rolls. We used unsalted butter, but salted butter can be used.
- Egg, beaten (1) – Combines the butter and mustard so the glaze clings to each roll and bakes up lightly custardy.
- Dijon mustard (2 tablespoons) – The brown mustard adds tang and a little heat to cut the richness, just like the restaurant sandwich, or use your favorite brand of brown mustard.
- Powdered sugar – Gives a light dusting for that signature sweet finish and a pretty presentation.
- optional side – raspberry jam
How to Make Monte Cristo Sliders

PREP. Remove rolls from the packaging, and without separating them, use a serrated knife to slice in half horizontally. Place the bottom half of the rolls side-by-side in a lightly sprayed, foil-lined, 9×13 baking pan.
ASSEMBLE. Evenly layer ham, then turkey, then cheese slices over the rolls. Place the top half of the rolls over the cheese layer.
- In a small bowl, whisk together melted butter, egg, and Dijon mustard until well combined. Evenly pour over the tops of rolls, covering each one.

BAKE. Tent a piece of foil over the rolls, making sure the foil does not touch the tops of the rolls. Bake at 350ยฐF for 20 minutes. Remove foil and continue baking for 10 more minutes.
- Remove from oven and cool for 15 minutes before removing rolls from pan. Dust with powdered sugar and serve immediately.

Kristyn’s Recipe Tips
- Keep the rolls attached when slicing, halve each pack horizontally for fast, even layering.
- Tent with foil for the first bake, then uncover to brown without drying.
- Let the pan cool about 15 minutes, the cheese sets and slices cleaner.
- Make ahead, assemble up to 1โ2 days in advance without the butter mixture, cover and chill, then add the topping and bake to serve. Store leftovers 2โ3 days in the fridge or freeze 2โ3 months.
- Serve with raspberry jam or the easy raspberry dip for the classic pairing.

Oooooo! I can’t wait to try these! What an awesome way to make a bunch all at once! So creative! Thanks!!
Omg delish!! So easy too!
They are my favorite! Glad you liked them! Thank you!
My boys love sliders snd these are at the top of their list. I love how easy they are and that I don’t have to fight to get them to eat dinner.
The recipe looks a little confusing oh, it says the servings are 12 but in the ingredients it tells you to purchase to 12 packs of dinner rolls? The directions also say to cut both packages of dinner rolls horizontal. Is it one pack or two packs is a serving 12 or 24? Thanks
A serving would be two sandwiches. You need 24 rolls (2 packages), cut horizontal, so taking out of the package, don’t separate them, just cut in the middle. Hope that makes sense ๐
These are the best for parties, or where you’re making food for large groups. We love them for dinner too, because even though a lot of our kids are picky, they all will eat them happily.
i MAKE different kinds of sliders from time to time, and my 3 kids and husband usually just tolerate them. but these? they all loved these…and all of them agreeing on something rarely happens, so I’m convinced there is some sort of magic involved in the recipe…
but seriously, these tasted a lot closer to Disneyland monte cristo sandwiches than I expected them too. these are delicious and are going to be something i make semi-regularly!
I love hearing that!! Thank you for letting me know! I am so glad you tried them!
These look super easy and super yummy!
