It’s no secret that we are slightly obsessed with all things tacos – so why NOT turn it into a casserole?
We basically turned a taco (or taco salad) into a casserole that preps in minutes and feeds a crowd – win-win!
Instead of tortilla chips, we used a biscuit base (still just as tasty but a bit heartier and easier to scoop). We layered that with taco meat (ground beef seasoned with taco seasoning) and added our favorite toppings for one tasty bite!
You can add all the ingredients you love, but we usually add sour cream, lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, and olives! Try topping it off with a delicious Taco Salad Dressing!
Casseroles are the ultimate solution for weeknight dinners and potlucks! This taco casserole recipe is one of the more unique casseroles, but everyone loves it!
Why we think you’ll love it:
- Some favorite flavors. This recipe is kind of like a Taco Salad or Navajo Tacos but in casserole form!
- Preps in 5 minutes! Cook up your ground beef and layer. This is one easy dinner, perfect for busy nights or any night!
- Enough to feed the family. It’s hearty and filling and makes around 8 servings so there’s plenty for everyone! Add a couple of sides (like Spanish Rice and Refried Beans) to make it go even further.
Taco Casserole Ingredients and Substitutions
- 2 pounds ground beef – or ground chicken or ground turkey
- 2 (1-ounce) packets taco seasoning – store-bought or 2 tablespoons of homemade Taco Seasoning
- 4 large eggs
- ¾ cups milk
- 1¼ cups biscuit/baking mix
- dash black pepper
- ½ cup sour cream – or Mexican crema
- 2 cups chopped lettuce
- ¾-1 cup chopped tomato
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese – or Colby Jack cheese
- olives

How to Make Taco Casserole
- GROUND BEEF. Cook 2 pounds of ground beef over medium heat, drain, and add 2 packets of Taco Seasoning. Spread the meat on the bottom of a 9×13 pan or baking dish.
- BISCUIT LAYER. Beat eggs, milk, biscuit mix, and a dash of black pepper until well combined, and pour over ground beef mixture.
- BAKE. Bake at 400°F for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.

Kristyn’s Recipe Tips
- Fully brown the ground beef and drain the excess oil.
- Spread the batter evenly over the ground beef mixture to ensure even cooking.

Hi Kristin, any chance of more vegetarian recipes? I could not find any in the Mexican recipes.
I guess I am one of the few that didn’t really like this. Concept is fine just flavorless. Would of been better to had just made delicious tacos 🌮. Just needed some oomph like salsa, taco sauce, Mexican seasoning. Leftovers lol I will be scraping off the biscuit mixture and adding the rest into taco shells.
Fabulous and easy to prepare
Very tasty recipe. It is very easy to put together and very filing. I like to add diced onion and red and green peppers to the meat when cooking. But it is perfect as is. I am a senior citizen and this is a wonderful addition to my usual monthly recipes.
I have made this a number of times. Half the recipe as there are only two of us. Normally I add the cheese when it is done
baking then leave in oven for a few minutes. I was wondering how it would work if I spread cheese over meat before I added biscuit mix. Anyone tried it that way?
I haven’t tried it that way, but I imagine it would turn out just fine! You’d have more of a cheesy meat/biscuit than by just adding it on top.
I haven’t made it yet but I will tomorrow because we already ate. It looks so good and easy. Thank you for this recipe and sharing it.
This recipe sounds like something my husband would eat because he doesn’t eat taco salad at alll.
Family loved this recipe. It is on our list of favorites. Thank you.
You’re welcome!
This recipe is quick, easy and oh so yummy!! My whole family loved it! We will be adding this to our weekly meal night menu list <3 Thank you for sharing this with us <3
Delicious and easy!
Glad you think so 🙂 Thank you!
Amazing!!
Fun twist on tacos. Everyone loved it. Fresh veggies on top made this dish!
Thank you so much!
This casserole looks delicious! Can’t wait to try it.
It’s one of my favorites!! Hope you like it!
This was so good! Everyone in our family enjoys this recipe, even our lucky eater!
I am glad they all do!! Thank you for sharing that!
I could make this every Taco Tuesday! Easy and scrumptious. That’s what I’m taco-ing about!
Haha..love that!! Thanks so much!!
This is a yummilicious casserole😋 I did add corn & black olives to our meat & used the cornbread baking mix which I mixed some Mexican cheese in. So yummy 🤤
Great options!! Thanks for trying it!!
I made this and my family loves it! Thank you for the recipe!
You are so welcome!! Glad your family liked it!
Sooooo good!! My grandson and my husband had seconds or more lol. We love anything tacos, this was a winner, will be making this often. Love your recipes!!
We do too!! Glad it was a winner!! Thank you!
Sooooo good!! My grandson and my husband had seconds or more lol. We love anything tacos, this was a winner, will be making this often. Love your recipes!!
This is easy and delicious! Win and win! Whole picky family loves it! The lettuce looks nice but no one here wanted it on top- still yummy. Thank you for these quick and fun dinners!
My family loved the taco casserole. We have taco’s a lot at my house. It can be a little messy eating. That Is why I like making the casserole, it comes together good and you can really taste all the flavors . Not like a regular taco where your taco breaks and you loose all the good stuff that falls out. You end up getting a fork to finish. The casserole is great and easy and I will be passing that recipe on to my sisters👍 yum 😋
I haven’t made it yet, but just reading the ingredients & steps is making my mouth water! I’ll pick up what I need at the grocery store & make it this weekend when my son & his family are coming. We all LOVE everything to do with tacos!
Thanks!
My all time favorite casserole for my taco loving family!
This sounds amazing. I am going to make this for dinner tonight
I rated this without trying it-YET. I grew up on casseroles and love them! I am all about a one-dish meal!
There are just 2 of us now–empty nesters 😉 So, this will be a good one to have in my rotation–leftovers or to make when feeding my kids and grandkids! YUM!
I made this for my Grand Daughter’s birthday who is a picky eater does not like anything made with hamburger. She didn’t want to even try it but i finally convinced her to take a taste and she loved it. Now she has requested that i make it for her every year for her birthday. The only thing i did differently was i made a cornbread topping and added cheddar cheese to it and then baked it. Once i then topped it with the other toppings.
This is such an easy dish for brunch. It’s also a great dish for potluck. My family loves this dish as well as co-workers, who ask for it whenever we have potlucks for special occasions.
I added crushed nacho cheese doritos and sliced green onions.
This is quick, easy, and delicious.
We love and enjoy this casserole ‼️
My husband and I love the leftovers if there are any.
Looks delicious! Can’t wait to try it!
Taco Casserole was delicious and easy to make. Would recommend to my friends and family.
What can I saw tacos are my thang! I don’t care if they are breakfast, vegetarian, any kind of protein I’m here for tacos! Taco casserole YES! I’m here for it ha-ha. I loved the idea of using bisquick. Great recipe and love that it feeds a lot. I do the food for my husband’s game night and casseroles are a great way to feed the crowd and this taco one is a fun one to make!
It’s like a deconstructed taco that’s easy to make ahead of time and have ready to pop in the oven. What’s not to love?
This is so easy to make and tastes great. I’ve made it several times and we love it. I always cut up extra lettuce, tomatoes, and olives so we can add a much as desired.
I made this but I changed it, I put parchment paper down on the pan. I layered it with re-fried bean layer then the beef on top with a layer of sharp cheddar cheese. Baked it a 250°F. for 20 minutes. Then I took it out by the parchment and put it on a sheet. I relined the pan with Doritos’s then flipped the parchment over with the cheddar layer on the chips. Then topped with sour cream, lettuce, tomato and black olives as suggested. Next time I will make the chips a little larger.
This was pretty good and easy! We used ground chicken and mixed Mexican cheese in the batter.
My family thought it was ok. Won’t make it again, though.
It was good. I used Jiffy baking mix. Next time I might jazz it up with adding refried beans when it comes out of the oven. I would add some green chilies or jalapeños.
We LOVE Mexican food, and this was a fun twist. The kids loved it!
I love casseroles this time of year and Mexican food is always a hit! This recipe is so yummy and so easy to put together!
So easy and yummy! I love the fresh lettuce and tomatoes on top. You don’t even need to serve sides with this one-pan meal. The whole family loves it! Thanks for another great recipe!
My favorite part about this recipe is that it is easy AND delicious! My kids love all types of Mexican food so this has been a great “Mexican food” variation to mix things up a bit!
My family loves this casserole!! We make taco salad a lot & this is a nice change! It’s more hearty, but has the same delicious flavors!
This is one of our new favorite ways to make tacos now! I also like to do it with other taco meats like shredded chicken or pork. So good!
Tacos are our fav!! Love that it is in a casserole form… makes it easy and slick for dinner/serving! Thank you!!
I try to make a new beef taco variation each week. Not all are keepers but this one was a hit.
This is sooooo yummy! Even my picky 13 year old loved it, thank you!
We love doing taco tuesdays, this is the most perfect taco dish!! we love it! Thanks for the recipe!
LOVE it! Easy to make and gets the family to the table.
This recipe is so Delicious! Made a few changes, but it was Awesome!
My friend made this for dinner one evening and my husband and I loved it so much that I got her to give me her recipe and that was about 23- 24 yrs ago. Her recipe name was Taco Quiche. The only thing we do differently is we bake the meat/ bisquick part, cut in in cake size pieces and then we each put our own toppings on it, that way everyone can choose what topping they like best. We love this one!
Thanks for sharing what you do! So glad you love the recipe! It’s a favorite here too.
I found this recipe too bland the way it is and I think it’s the bisquick crust. If I try it again I’ll make it with corn chips and spicy salsa.
Thanks for the feedback and for giving the recipe a try!
Can you use a cornbread mix and how would I swap it out
Yes, you can! Just use it in place of the biscuit mix… so 1 1/4 cup cornbread mix instead.
I will be making this later this week and have picked up a Betty Crocker Bisquick Buttermilk Biscuit mix that you need to just add water to. It also cooks at 425 for 8-11 minutes. These are the instructions to make individual biscuits. Should I follow the instructions on pkg or your instructions (Beating 4 eggs with 3/4 cup milk and then adding the 1 1/4 cup Bisquick.) Pour onto the casserole and bake 20-25 min. Thanks so much!
very easy and delicious
When does the 2cups of cheese got it this recipe?
It goes in as a topping. So once the bottom part of the casserole has baked (meat and biscuit layer), then sour cream, lettuce, cheese, olives, etc. get added to the top.
Sounds good and way less work then tacos
Yes, the casserole makes it quick and easy but still give that yummy taco flavor!
I love making this for my family of 8…..thanks so much 😘
You are so welcome! I’m glad you enjoyed it. It’s one of our family’s favorites. 🙂
I used Bob’s Red Mill 10 Whole Grain Pancake Mix and substituted Chobani Original Non-Fat Greek Yogurt for Sour Cream.
So delicious! Also added some jalapeno for a little extra heat. Thank you for sharing.
You’re welcome! So glad to hear it turned out well and you enjoyed it…. and added some extra heat! 🙂
I made it and used the taco spice recipe. Made half recipe since only two people not 8 🙂 Halving worked fine I used about 1 1/2 TBS of the taco season as we like it spicy! Also used cornbread mix and cooked the mixture with the ground beef at 425 for a little over 20 minutes (till it was bubbly and browning). I thought 350 for 15 to 20 min was not enough. Turned out great and we loved it. Put the topping on and used a little Cholula and dressing. Thanks for putting this out there would have never thought to do it.
Thanks so much for sharing!! Glad to hear you enjoyed the recipe and were able to adapt it to how many people you needed.
This was great!!! Added Rot el to the meat and it was awesome!!
Thanks for sharing! I’m glad to hear you enjoyed the recipe!
Made this today and Loved it…thanks for sharing!
Thanks for trying it out! Glad you enjoyed it!
Did you use bisquick?
Yes 🙂 Enjoy!!
I haven’t made this yet but it looks delicious and can’t wait to try it soon. I also think it would be great for some crunch or just a boost to add crushed doritos or fritos over the top just before serving. Or you can have them available on the side.
Yes, it would! Hope you try it soon & like it! Thank you!
Very good and easy. Biscuit mix works well, it is also good with a corn bread mix.
Thank you for saying that!
Very good and very easy! I used turkey instead of beef and it was delicious! I think mixing salsa with the tomatoes would make this recipe even tastier!
Great options 🙂 Thank you for trying it!
thanks for sharing we loved it
Happy to share 🙂 I am so glad you did!! Thank you!
I’ll need to replace the biscuit mix with cornmeal…do I use the same amount of cornmeal? And can I use polenta? How much? Thank you!!
I haven’t tried either of those, but I am sure they would both work 🙂 I would keep same measurements.
A DELICIOUS little switch up to make with leftover taco meat!
Is there something else you could use instead of sour cream in the taco casserole. My husband does not like sour cream. Thanks
You could just leave it off. Not really sure what else would be good with this specific recipe. Usually Greek yogurt is a great substitute for sour cream, but not sure it would be great with this..lol!
Looks tasty! Was wondering the purpose of the biscuit layer? I wanna know if i can make without that steP
Thank you, it is!! The biscuit layer adds some consistency. Without it, it will just be a pile of meat & toppings, but you can totally leave it out, if you prefer 🙂
Cook the refried beans with your ground beef or ground turkey and follow the other instructions. but might I suggest using a corn tortilla shell at the bottom before the meat and do the layering of the other ingredients after that.
I will have to try that! Thank you!
Yum! This recipe is so easy and Super delicious! I made it tonight for dinner and The whole family couldn’t get enough. (And theres 9 of us) i didn’t change the recipe one bit and it was perfect! Thank you for sharing 🙂
You are welcome! I love to hear that! Thank you so much for letting me know!
Could I use canned TOMATOES with mild CHILIES instead of fresh chOpped tomatoeS?
You sure could. I would just drain them first. Enjoy!
Is ther an way i cou add refried bean to this and if sO, how wo I laye it?
I personally have not tried, but I am sure they could. Not sure how it would be, if you layered them first, then the meat or on top of the meat. You want the mixture to fall in between the meat.
I mixed them with the ground beef once cooked and seasoned
ExCellent I added more sour cream
Perfect!! Thank you for trying it!
Amazing dish and you can add or change any toppings to fit everyone’s palets, and most kids love it ….
My kids love this recipe too! I also love that it’s so customizable. Glad you liked it!
Love this! I did take the Suggestions in the comments of using cornbread rather than bisCuIt mix (1/2 c flour, 3/4 c corNmeal w/2 tsp baking powder & 1/2 tSp salt). So delicious!
Glad you tried it! Thank you so much for letting me know 😉
I fixed it for lunch ..it was a huge hit, everyone loves it..to be real i don’t like to cook , but you made me look like a chef and so easy……Thank you so much! you are a lifesaver…
Lol..I am glad you tried it! I am happy it was a hit! Thank you so much!
I’d like to try laying corn tortillas over the meat in place of the biscuit mix. Has anyone tried that or see any issues with how it would bake? just thinking it would be more of a taco/mexican flavor???
I personally have not, but that’s a good idea!
I cook at a senior living home and this was the perfect Way to make taco salad for them. As shells or chips are Difficult for many of the elderly to East, the biscuit variation Worked very well and it was still as good as your typical taco salad. Will definitely make this again! Thanks for the recipe
You are so welcome! Yes, it is a great option for sure! I am glad you found it!
Made thi for Dinner tonight and it was delicIous! I added RefrieD bEans, sour cream, lettuce, tomatoes & black olives.
So glad you liked it! Thank you for sharing what you added 🙂
Could I subs the grOund beef with ground turkey?
You definitely could 🙂 Enjoy!

Im making this on Sunday for dinnwe! Can i uSe canNed biscuits insteaD of biscuit miX?
Sorry, to not get back to you sooner? Did you try it with the biscuits? I was going to say that I haven’t tried, but it would work.
We had this last October for my bday and it was delicious. I love how simple this recipe is to make. The only changes we made were to omit the biscuit mix and instead we layered corn tortilla strips on top of the meat and then put the sour cream and lettuce on top of the strips. Super easy to dress this up anyway you like, we just added some cilantro for flavor. A great week night rotation recipe. Many thanks. IT is sometimes hard to find uncomplicated recipes these days!
Sounds great! Thank you for sharing what you did. Glad you liked it!
Ok…. Did this recipe. I substituted with Turkey ground meat. And instead of sour cream I used fat free Greek Yogurt. Yum!
Great option! Thank you for sharing that!
I made this recipe once before and it was a huge hit! Everyone loved it. I was just wondering if it would be just as good if I followed the recipe for Biscuits on the bisquick box?
I am sure it would 🙂 Enjoy!!
This Taco pie is to die for! I’m not a big fan of mexican food, but this… is a wow factor! Make it, you won’t be sorry!
Yay!! I am happy you tried it & liked it!! Thank you so much!
Looks easy to prep and lioks goo to eat.
It really is!! Hope you give it a try 🙂
Can you use corn bread mix instead of biscuit mix
Yes, you could 🙂 I have not tried, but it will work.

Glad you think so 🙂 Thank you!!
Can this taco cassero be made in a slow cooker . ??
I personally haven’t tried, but I don’t see why not 🙂
You left out the amounts of the ingredients.
It’s in there 🙂 It’s in the recipe card.
Can you tell me what is bIscuit mix in the taco casserole please?
Thanks
It is a pre-made baking mix 🙂 You can usually find it in your grocery store.

Looks yummy !!!
Thank you 🙂 Hope you give it a try!
Looks yummy!!
Thank you so much!! Hope you give it a try 🙂
It turned out really well. I was sceptical when it was baking and looked like meat cake but it was pretty yummy. The onky thinG i’d add next time is crushed tortilla shells so you still get the taco crunch. But it was really good as is (except we skipped the olives as no one likes them here ha ha)
Adding the tortilla shells would be great! Glad you liked it! Thank you!
This is going to be my pot luck go to. Looks sooo………good.
I hope you like it!! We love it!
Can’t wait to Try.
Hope you like it!!
Iam going have to make this looks so very good

Made the taco casserole tonight and the entire family lived it! Even my 2 year old. Great recipe.
Woohoo!! Love hearing that!! Thank you for letting me know!!
I tried this using a cornbread mix instead of biscuit. My husband and I really liked it!
I am glad to hear that! Happy you both liked it! Thank you!
Awesomeness … i shared your rec with ladies on my Facebook Blog. Im sure its a hit for our Taco Tuesday! ?
Thank you so much for sharing the recipe 😉
Is this casserole good to bring to someone’s house or the fact that it needs to be warm make it not a good choice
I prefer it warm, but it definitely could be taken somewhere 🙂 It doesn’t have to be.
iT WOULD ALSO WORK TO BAKE THE BASE AND SERVE HOT WITH ALL OTHER INGREDIENTS READY AND EACH PERSON CAN PILE ON THE TOPPINGS TO THEIR OWN LIKING.
That works too 🙂 Customizable!
Looks wonderful…but the 90 percent saturated fat?
This was yummy !!!
Glad you thought so 🙂 Thank you so much!
Love it. I need more recipes, just as yummy for diabetic husband. I did this just left the biscuit out
Can you use cornmeal in place of baking mix flour
I personally haven’t tried, but I am sure it would work.
Don’t understand taco casserole biscuit mix. 11/4 cups.
You need 1 1/4 cups of biscuit baking mix 🙂 It’s a pre-made mix usually found in the baking aisle.
I loved it! so easy:) Thank you!!!
Glad you think so! Thank you so much!
This was soooo Yummy! We love OUR TACOS and this was just a different, yummy way to eat them! Thank you so much for sharing this recipe! Definitely will make this again!
Glad to share!! Glad you liked it! It’s a fun way to change it up!
For the NUTRITIONAL facts, HOW many servings does this make?
Tacos are my go to easy recipe. I make them almost weekly so i appreciate coming across varIations that i can make. Thanks for POSTING!

Oh yuM! This is a perfect dinner idea!
This will be a perfect weeknight dinner! My family loves tacos.
I’m a HUGE fan of tacos and casseroles, so when they’re combined in one, you better believe I’m in heaven! Thank you!!!
LOL!!! I’m with ya!!
my husbands hates casseroles. like hate, hates them. when he asked what we were having for dinner and I told him “taco casserole,” he was not excited. so why did i give this recipe 5 stars? because he liked it!!! and my kids (mostly) liked it! they ate it naked, other than cheese (nobody but me likes sour cream or lettuce or tomatoes) , but they still enjoyed it.
Tell your hubby I am so glad he liked it!! Thank you for making it for your family!
My husband hates casseroles too… I changed the name from casseroles to bake! Haaaa! Taco bake, green Bean bake, egg, sausage cheese bake! Haaaaaaaa…
LOL!!
Loved this recipe. Just had the kids and 3 grandkids over for an ouside distancing poolside supper. It was simple to throW together before they arrived and quick to cook 25 minutes) when the Kids said they were getting hungry. Made it in a throw away pan and we all used disposible plates so clean up was easY with minimal “touching” of each others supplies. Served it with individual packs of DoritoS for the kids. Everone loved it and ate until it was gone. Will for sure make again. I made it just as Written. Thank you for this great r3cipe!
That sounds like the perfect party! I am so happy that it was a hit! Thank you for sharing that!
We eat taco salad all year round. I like the fact that this goes all together and has the same great taste. The biscuit kind of takes the place of the chips which Is a nice variation.
A family favorite. We make this often 🙂
Help, I’m making the recipe and it says 11/4 cup Bisquick. What is that . I need to know the correct amount asap. Thanks
Bisquick is a pre-made mix of flour, shortening, salt, & baking powder. So, you need 1 1/4 cup.
This is such a great recipe! It’s super easy & has so much flavor. My hubby can eat taco salad every week, so this is a nice option to change it up!
What is 11/4 biscuit mix
Biscuit mix is a mix made of flour, sugar, salt, vegetable shortening, & baking soda. So you need 1 1/4 cup of this.
I used a pkg. of Mexican Cornbread (Martha White) instead of the Bisquick, adding some red & green bell pepper, jalepeno pepper and onion, all diced small. It was good!! I did not use sour cream but instead when casserole was finished cooking, I topped with cheese putting it back into the oven to melt and then once cheese was melted topped with lettuce, tomatoes and green onions..no black olives…don’t care for the olives or sour cream. Also, to my meat I added some onions, jalepeno pepper and rotel tomatoes and seasoning it with black pepper, onion and garlic powder along with the taco seasoning. I really liked it!!!
Sounds great! Thank you for sharing what you did!!
Can i Just half the recipe since there is just three oF us ?&
You sure could 🙂
It is all in the post..https://lilluna.com/taco-casserole/

Just found your site! Excited, i love texmex!
I am glad you found it!! Hope you find some recipes to try!
Looks brilliant but not sure where to obtain biscuit/baking mix. not something i’ve seen in uk.
I find it in my grocery store, but I’m not sure where in the uk?? Have you tried googling it & seeing if a local store has it?
Looks delicious, have the ingredients.
It really is!! I hope you give it a try 🙂
Hi this looks sooo good!!! can this be made as a freezer meal?
I am sure it could, though I have never tried. It should be ok 🙂

I can’t wait for you to try it 🙂 Hope you like it!
My daughter has a GLUTEN allergy, I wounder if cornmeal could be SUBSTITUTED for flour, (there’s no gluten in cornmeal) just asking..
I wish I knew for sure. I haven’t tried, so I am not sure what or if that would change the recipe. I would think that work 🙂
Jan I used gluten free, All purpose baking mix from walmart. it is in a big blue cardboard box next to bisquick.
Will try this tomorrow.
I hope you will 🙂 I’d love to know what you think!
Do i doble all the ingredients if making for16 people
This will feed 16, but there may not be seconds. You could double it & put in a bigger pan 🙂
This looks Incredibly delicious. I have to make this soon for my family!
It is!! I hope they like it!
we love taco salad, so this is just taking it to a new level! it was delicious! I loved the biscuit/dough base. it was hearty & so tasty!
I dont quite understand the 11/4 measurent. Imwas halving this and it made it hard to get the biscuit max right.
It is 1 cup plus a quarter cup for the regular recipe, so if you are halving, it is 1/2 cup plus 2 tablespoons. Google is my best friend 🙂 I had to look it up 🙂
This taco casserole was so delicious!! we make taco salad quite a bit, but I will be making this more! I love the bottom crust part. it was so filling & tasty!
Why not list 2 3/4 cups instead of 11/4 ?
I am not sure what ingredient, the biscuit?
I believe the 1 1/4 is 1 and 1/4 cups. It’s just that the space between the 1’s is not noticeable, but it’s there. Spacing twice between the 1 and 1/4 would make it more noticeable.
Family loved it.
Can’t wait to make it
I can’t wait for you to try it!! I hope you like it!
This is very easy to make. Thanks for sharing THIS.love it . 1st time making it. Enjoyed it
I am so glad you think so!! Thank you for sharing that!!
its like taco salad in the form of a casserole. It makes for a hardier meal with the Addition of bisquick. Cant go wrong with this recipe!
Love this recipe
Thank you so much!!
Is bisquick ok? what biscuit mix did you use?
Yes 🙂 I just used their original/normal bisquick. Hope you like it!
Just had the taco casserole awesome family loved it
I am so happy to hear that!! I am glad they liked it! Thank you so much for letting me know!
This looks very yummy! I will be making this for dinner tonight!
Could the biscuit mix be substituted with a cornbread mix?
Only because I have a ton of corn meal!
I haven’t tried, but one way to find out 🙂 I’m thinking it would be ok. This is so good, I hope you like it!
This looks delicious! You mentioned that you could add refried beans which I think would be very taste. How much would you add and would you put it on the bottom and the meat on top? Thank you in advance.
You could add them under or on top of the meat 🙂 That would taste great!
I have mixed a can of refried beans into the cooked and drained ground beef. It was good and my family liked it. It’s easier than trying to layer them.
That works too 🙂 Thank you!
Can you use ground Turkey instead of ground beef?
You sure could 🙂 I haven’t tried, but that would taste great!
Could this casserole be refrigeratored and baked the next night?
I haven’t tried, but I don’t see why not 🙂
Made this for a group of 8 on vacation . Easy and everyone liked it. I melted cheese on top last 5 minutes in the oven; then topped with sour cream, shredded lettuce, salsa and more cheese. Yummy recipe.
Perfect!! It’s great for a crowd 🙂 Thank you for sharing!
Just a question about Easy Chicken Enchiladas:
Can it be made first then frozen for later?
Taking kids and grandkids on a family vacation and looking for some easy, make ahead and freeze meals which will allow me to enjoy our time together but can provide them a delicious meal at the end of our busy day.
Yes, of course 🙂 Have fun on your vacation!! Hope they all love this dish!
Looks great and yummy! I might try it with corn bread mix instead of biscuit mix though.
You sure could 🙂 Thank you so much!! Enjoy!
Debbie how did the cornbread mix turn out, I was wondering if it could be done with cornmeal instead of biscuit mix.
My aunt does cornbread into and green sauce then cheese
These all look great. Thanks!
Thanks so much!!

Made the taco casserole tonight. We thought it was delicious I think next time I’d add onion but otherwise perfect. Just concerned we have leftovers not sure about reheating it tomorrow with the sour cream though?
It is fine reheated 🙂 Yes, you can totally add onions..we are not onion fans over here, but I do like to add onion powder.
Would love to see more recipes and try different recipes
I have tons 😉 Let me know what you think of ones you try!
Would love to see more recipes
I think that cornbread in place of the biscuit mix would enhance the Mexican flavor. Also, would include some onion (either green or white), along with some salsa. Yummo!
Those would be great options 🙂 Enjoy!
Would love to hear how the corn bread turned out. What you used &measurements. Thanks
I really enjoy your recipes
Thank you so much! I am so glad you do 🙂
i was wondering if you could use cornbread instead of biscuits in the taco casserole
I personally haven’t tried that, but I am sure you could. It might give it a different texture, but it could be an option. Let me know what you think 🙂 Thank you!
I am preparing this TOMORROW for dinner. Did you try using CORNBREAD??
I did not, but you sure could 🙂
Could I use Bisquick complete biscuits would I still need to add eggs and milk
That should be ok 🙂
I have tried several of your recipes and loved them.
Thank You
Dorothy Franey
You are so sweet! Thank you so much!! I am happy you do 🙂
I’m Keto, is there anything I can use in place of the biscuit/baking mix? Almond Flour? Coconut Flour?
I am sure you could. I have not tried & am not familiar with all keto things, but you need ingredients that will make like a biscuit /puff up crust. Hope that helps!
Here’s a recipe for low carb mix using almond flour.

Try Gluten free flour or better yet depending on the dish, maybe flour tortilla shells or the corn ones
It looks good….will have to try recipe soon.
