Tortellini Sausage Soup - a new favorite! { } Packed with lots of flavor, including sausage, veggies, & tortellini tossed in lots of spices!

I have one last soup to share with you before I have an awesome round-up of Soup Goodness for you this weekend.

This next one was made by my mom and I have to admit I was a little hesitant when she said it had sausage and tortellini. I love both but couldn’t image it together in a soup. I’m happy to report that it was SO good. It tasted just like a yummy Italian dish and was so hearty and flavorful. I may have had 3 servings – no joke!! I think you will love this Tortellini Sausage Soup just as much as we did!!

Here is the recipe:

Im not a soup person, but man that thing ROCKED last night! So yummy. I think I had 3 servings too, and Im not even pregnant.

The apple cider – are we talking vinegar or do you actually mean cider?

Thanks. Looks good.

    Lil' Luna

It was actually apple cider and not apple cider vinegar. πŸ™‚

Tammi Schneiderman

Oh girl. I wasn’t hungry until I saw this. Looks perfect!!

By apple cider do you mean apple cider vinegar or regualr drinking apple cider?

Can you tell us how many this serves. I would like to try and make it for a pot luck.

Rebecca Bailin

Thank you for the delicious Tortellini and Sausage Soup Recipe! It is a BIG HIT at our house!! I’ve made it twice in the last 3 weeks and am sure we’ll be having it very often at our house.

    Lil' Luna

SO glad to hear it!! I know I was a little hesitant at first to try it, but we loved it too!! Happy New Year! πŸ˜€

Looks great! Has anyone tried it in the crockpot?

I have and it works just fine. I browned the meat as per instruction and threw everything in the pot and cooked on low for six hours. Add tortellini and turn to high until pasta is tender and serve. I served mine with piping hot cornbread and butter which went perfectly with the flavors of the soup.. YUM! . On a side note, I added one onion, a tsp. of marjoram and a bay leaf to mine as well. I also have made this with chicken and rice instead of the sausage and tortellini and it was good too.

I made the tortellini soup tonight– Holy Moly was that good!!! Yum!

    Lil' Luna

SO glad you liked it!! Seems to be a hit with everyone who tries it. Thanks for stopping by! XO

Do you mean apple cider vinegar or apple cider?

Lisa G

I am making this soup now, it smells delish.
Followed the recipe to a T except I tossed in some fresh baby spinach too.

I do not see a response to the apple cider question. Can you tell me if you use apple cider vinegar for this recipe?
Thank you

    Lil' Luna

It was regular drinking apple cider and not apple cider vinegar πŸ™‚

i never have apple cider and i do have cider vinegar so that is what i have always used. although i just use a glug of it, not a ton. sometimes i might add some sprite or something if it needs a bit more liquid.

      Lil' Luna

I’m sure cider vinegar works just as well! Thanks for the suggestion. πŸ™‚

Thank you for the tortellini soup recipe! I made this today and am sitting in my clean house loving this soup! It has a permanent place in my recipe rotation and I can;t wait to try it with a hotter italiian sausage. I used sweet tonight and it truly is amazing!

This soup was fantastic! I made it for dinner tonight and my husband was eating it straight from the pot after his huge bowl :^) Very, very tasty, thank you for sharing your recipe. I made cornbread with it and it was perfect!

Since I am suppose to be eating low carb I left out the tortellini :(sob): and added a can of washed and drained cannelloni beans. I also added an onion, 3 stalks of celery, 1 tsp. marjoram, a yellow summer squash and a bag of baby spinach ( added in the last five minutes of cooking so it just wilts) to the existing recipe. We love this soup and I love taking a crockpot full to potlucks. It always comes back empty. πŸ™‚

    Lil' Luna

You’re so good to leave out the Tortellini! Sounds like you made your own recipe with all your additions. πŸ˜‰ I’m so happy you like it. I’ll have to add some of your suggestions next time I try it. πŸ™‚

πŸ˜€ :whispers: sometimes we have it with the tortellini too. :naughty grin: I did but it was your fabulous base that makes this soup so darn good! I never would have thought of adding apple cider and I tried it once without but OMG the difference it makes!!! I tell everyone I share this with to make sure they don’t leave it out.
The additions I made were to try and make up for not having the stretching power of the pasta and a wonderful jaunt to a local farm stand inspired me as well. I LOVE how all the colors and flavors ( and the fabulous aroma) mix together and it is even better the next day. I am actually sitting here eating a bowl as I type this and on this chilly rainy fall day it is like a bit of summer is lingering in my kitchen. πŸ˜€

Thank you so much for sharing this recipe with us! πŸ˜€

I found this recipe on Pinterest and made it tonight for my family, and it was a hit! Very nice flavor, and easy to make. I will be making this again. Thank you for sharing!

    Lil' Luna

YAY! LOVE to hear that. We just had it again last week (it’s a favorite!) Glad you guys liked it too. πŸ™‚

I followed the instructions exactly. This soup was so salty! It was not good and we ended up throwing it away. It’s to bad because it was expensive to make!

    Lil' Luna

I’m so sorry you thought it was salty. We’ve made this several times and have never felt that way but everyone has different tastes. As you can see from the recipe there is no salt, but perhaps you could use chicken broth with less sodium so it doesn’t tasty so salty. Sorry you had to throw it away. :/

Does anyone know the calorie count of this recipe?

Judy Rosasco

The best soup I have ever made! It is always my go to soup for the girls luncheon!
My husband loves it. I make very few comments but had to on this soup since I made it!

    Lil' Luna

Oh, thank you so much for letting me know! We love this soup, too πŸ™‚ Glad it’s a hit!!

Made this soup tonight and it was delicious! So easy and so much flavor. Will definitely be making this again sometime!
