Who here loves breakfast dishes?!

We especially love the breakfast recipes that are simple and quick. This Sausage Cream Cheese Casserole is one of those!

It’s one of the easiest “casseroles” you’ll ever make, with literally 3 ingredients!

You can use hot sausage, turkey sausage, maple sausage – practically any sausage you prefer. I ended up using the Jimmy Dean Pork Sausage crumbles since I always have them on hand for breakfast dishes.

That particular sausage is also already cooked, making the recipe even more simple and quick. It’s great, and I love that this Cream Cheese Sausage Breakfast Casserole can be changed so easily with different meats and cheeses!!

Recipe Tips

Uncooked sausage. Use a package of cooked crumbled sausage to make this recipe easy and quick or cook up your own sausage.

  • You need about 1½ lb – 2 lb worth of pork sausage. Heat up a skillet and brown the sausage. Drain excess oil before adding in the cream cheese.

9×13 pan. Follow the same steps but press it in a 9×13 pan. Add about 5 minutes to the bake time.

Soggy bottom. If the bottom is soggy, the oven may be heating the pan unevenly. Next time, tent the casserole with aluminum foil to prevent the top from browning while letting it bake more.

To make it more flavorful

Bacon bits. Mix in some cooked crumbled bacon bits in with the cream cheese and sausage mixture.

Cheese. Add shredded cheddar cheese, Colby jack cheese, or pepper jack cheese. Either mix it in with the mat mixture or sprinkle it over the meat mixture before adding the top layer of crust.

Vegetables. Saute some veggies like onions, bell pepper, spinach, mushrooms, and jalapenos, then add in the sausage crumbles and cream cheese.

Sausage. Change the type of sausage used to easily adjust the flavor of the dish. Use crumbled maple syrup breakfast sausage, crumbled mild sausage, or crumbled hot Italian sausage.

Adding spices is another simple way to add extra flavor to your Sausage Cream Cheese Casserole Recipe. Use salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika. Make sure to put the seasoning into the sausage and cream cheese mixture when it’s on the stove so that it all becomes well incorporated.

Storing Info

Make ahead of time. Prepare the meat mixture the night before. Add the cooked sausage to the cream cheese. Once combined, allow it to cool before storing it in an airtight container in the fridge.

Take the mixture out about 30 minutes before assembling the Sausage and Cream Cheese Casserole so the meat mixture can come to room temperature.

The sausage mixture can be stored in the freezer for about 4 months. Thaw overnight in the fridge before using.

STORE leftover Crescent Roll Sausage Casserole covered in the refrigerator for 3-4 days. Reheat individual servings in the microwave or larger servings in the oven until warmed through.

FREEZE. Either freeze a whole fully baked casserole or in individual pieces for 2-3 months.

  • Small portions. Reheat Breakfast Casserole with Cream Cheese slices in a toaster oven or microwave.
  • Entire casserole. Thaw, then reheat it in the oven at 350°F. Have a piece of tin foil handy to tent over the dish to keep it from burning while the center warms up.

Made this in high school and I loved it so I wanted to make it again and found this recipe! It came out great and delicious. 10/10 ❤️

Double batch only gave me one pan. Son loves it. Hubby hasn’t eaten it yet. Easy to make other than frying up sausage, drain and add cream cheese. Just have to cook it in a good non stick pan on low. Took a while for that. Dough was hard to pinch but make sure you spray your baking pan before stretching dough.

I used brown sugar and cinnamon cream cheese spread and added a quarter cup of brown sugar to the sausage as it was finishing browning. I love sweets
