Orange Juice Smoothie Ingredients
- Orange Juice (1 cup)- Orange juice adds bright citrus flavor and a boost of vitamin C. Any brand of orange juice works, or use freshly squeezed orange juice.
- Strawberries (½ cup)- Strawberries bring natural sweetness. We use frozen strawberries when fresh strawberries aren’t available or in season.
- Milk (1 cup)- Milk makes the smoothie creamy and balances the tang of the orange. We use 2% milk. You can use other percentages, or a dairy-free milk like coconut milk, almond milk, or soy milk.
- Water (½ cup)- Water lightens the texture so it stays sippable, not too thick.
- Vanilla extract (1 teaspoon)- Rounds out the flavor.
- Sugar, optional (⅛ cup)- Lets you fine-tune sweetness based on your preference. You can also sweeten using honey, maple syrup, agave nectar, or a very ripe banana.
- Ice cubes (12 cubes)- Chills and thickens the smoothie. If using frozen strawberries, reduce the amount of added ice cubes you include.

I read that you can’t mix milk with oranges that it will curdle?
I haven’t had any trouble with the milk curdling with orange juice before. I typically don’t use fresh squeezed orange juice for this recipe though.
Just made this as Ill with another cold and needed a boost. Lovely taste and easy recipe. Thank you.
This is my favorite orange Julius recipe!
Yay!! So happy to hear that!
You should swap out the milk with Kefir, add in some probiotiocs for a healthier smoothie
Those are great options!
amazing taste. took no effort.
Glad you think so! We love this, for that reason! Thank you!
This was basically an Orange Julius. I like that it did not call for orange juice concentrate BECAUSE I usually don’t have that. I like the fresh orange juice from this recipe. I was curious how water would affect the taste but it did not dilute it too much. Next time I may consider adding more orange juice just to give it that tangy flavor but I appreciated that it was more mild and not too thick. I would say definitely add the sugar. It was super good.
Glad you liked it!! Yes, you can totally add or take out ingredients & adjust 🙂
In my opinion it really nice but i wouldnt recommend it to people who dont have a sweet tooth
I was wondering if The strawberry was important to The recipe cause I currently can’t go buy fruit we just had fresh Snow fall.
You can totally leave that out. You could even add whatever berries you like, if you have something different. Yes, I wouldn’t want to drive to the store!
This looks and sound delicious, but the recipe does not show. Would you be kind enough to email it to me? I would love to have it! Thanks!
So sorry about that – just added it back in. 😉
Thanks!
I make this with vanilla soy ice cream for my dairy-allergic child. Same ingredients but the ice cream instead of milk, and I make it with vanilla soy milk sometimes. It is awesome!!!!
Such pretty photos! You make the most elegant care packages, and smoothies!
You’re so sweet Beeb – thank you!!
Okay, this kit and smoothie make me feel better just looking at them!
Thanks, Brandi!! 🙂
Yum! I drink an entire container of Simply Orange when I feel something coming on… my husband who is going to school in classes about how the body works, thinks this is nutritionally ludicrous… but I feel better:) Maybe if I do this recipe, he will be a better believer!
I will admit this drink is so good you wouldn’t know it had vitamins – lol!
Kristyn- this is some good info! The recipe looks fabulous:) Would love you to link this up at my slowly growing link party!

Have a great weekend:)
Interesting. That may be so, but luckily in this recipe, all the ingredients are blended and it doesn’t curdle the milk. We’ve made this one lots and no upset tummies over here! 🙂 You’ll have to give the recipe a try and tell us what you think.
