Crazy fast and easy to make, these Pizza Roll Ups are oozing with cheese and pepperoni. They are tiny pockets of big flavor!

Pizza Roll Ups come together quickly, making them perfect for after-school snacks, a quick lunch, or a fun twist on Pizza night. Try dipping these in the BEST Ranch Dressing or Homemade Marinara, and pair them with Arugula Salad to round off the meal.

homemade is the best way!

These freshly made Pizza Roll Ups have way more flavor!! With just a few simple ingredients you can have a warm pocket of oozing cheese and spicy pepperoni.

We love to dip ours in a bowl of Marinara.

Homemade Pizza Rolls are such a fun and easy dinner idea, even your kids can make them! The best part is they can tailor theirs to just how they like it. If they want extra cheese or no pepperoni – no problem!

Did I mention you only really need 3 ingredients?! The butter and seasoning really do take the Pizza Roll to the next level though. It adds that extra something that makes these crispy pockets taste like homemade perfection.

How to make pizza rolls

PREP. Preheat the oven to 375°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.

ASSEMBLE. Separate the crescent rolls. Add a few pepperoni and half a string cheese to the wide end of the crescent roll. Roll, tucking in the ends, and place on a baking sheet seam-side down. Repeat for all crescent rolls.

BAKE + SERVE! Bake for about 12 minutes. Once fresh from the oven, brush with melted butter and sprinkle with pizza seasoning. Enjoy warm.

Dipping sauce. You may notice a key pizza ingredient lacking from the recipe – Pizza Sauce. If desired, add a small dab of sauce along with the cheese, then roll it up. We serve Marinara on the side like a dip.

Air fryer directions

  • Prepare the Pizza Roll Ups as instructed in the recipe.
  • Set your air fryer to 320°F. Spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray and add Pizza Rolls.
  • Spray or brush the rolls with a light layer of olive oil. Depending on the size of your basket you may only be able to fit 3-4 rolls.
  • Cook for 11-12 minutes or until the dough has puffed out and turned a golden brown. (Refer to your user guide for more specific baking times and temperatures.)

Recipe tips + variations

Cheese. I use mozzarella cheese sticks, but you can use your favorite type of string cheese.

Pizza Seasoning. We have a homemade seasoning made with a blend of oregano, basil, onion, garlic, thyme, fennel, paprika, and black pepper. Butter the baked rolls, sprinkle on the seasoning, and add some parmesan cheese for even more flavor.

Homemade dough. Make these pizza rolls using Homemade Pizza Dough. Since most pizza dough recipes make quite a large amount of dough, half the recipe or make several and freeze some for later. Once you have your dough ready, simply measure out 1-ounce dough balls, roll them out, fill, wrap and bake.

Pizza pinwheels. Use all the basic ingredients to make pinwheels instead of rolls. Use shredded cheese instead of cheese sticks.

  • Remove the crescent rolls for the can, but leave it in one large piece. Press the perforations closed with your fingers.
  • Spread the shredded cheese and pepperoni evenly over the piece of dough.
  • Roll the dough like you would cinnamon rolls. Cut 8 slices and bake according to the recipe instructions.

Variations + Dipping Options

Variations. Add in some of your favorite pizza toppings to change these up. Be careful not to overstuff them because the crescent dough may not be big enough to roll.

  • sausage crumbles or bacon bits
  • mushrooms, olives, sliced bell peppers, or onions
  • Hawaiian roll ups: add ham and drained pineapple instead of pepperoni
  • add garlic to the melted butter to brush over the tops
  • sprinkle parmesan cheese on top

Pizza Rolls are really good on their own, but also taste great with a dip. Of course, Marinara Sauce adds to the pizza flavor, but you can also use other dips such as:

Storing Info

Make ahead of time. Assemble the Pizza Roll Ups a few hours ahead of time. Place them on a plate and keep them in an airtight container in the fridge until ready to bake.

FREEZE. Bake and then freeze for a great snack for kids to grab on their own. To freeze, cool and then place them in a freezer-safe container, separating layers with wax paper. Freeze for 1-2 months.

REHEAT them in the microwave or toaster oven.

STORE leftovers in the fridge or the freezer.

To reheat. Quickly reheat a Pizza Roll in the microwave, but for a crispier texture use an oven or air fryer.

  • Oven. Preheat to 350°F. Place the desired amount on a baking sheet and heat for about 10 minutes.
  • Air fryer. Heat the pizza roll for about 5 minutes at 320°F.
