Appetizers are a must-have at any function, especially New Year’s or holiday parties. It was actually at a holiday party that we were introduced to this dip years ago.

Since then, we make Buffalo Chicken Dip any chance we can get because we love it so much, and it’s a party favorite.

Here’s what keeps us coming back for more:

  • Delicious. It’s a dip with all the flavor of Buffalo Wings (without all the work) and is certainly addicting.
  • Easy. It’s REALLY simple to make. It only takes about 5 minutes of prep.
  • Customizable. Depending on how strong you like your flavors, you can adjust the amount of buffalo sauce or blue cheese to your liking.

Only 5 Ingredients

  • shredded cooked chicken – Cook up a batch of Shredded Chicken, shred a rotisserie chicken from the grocery store, or use canned chicken (drained).
  • cream cheese – softened
  • buffalo sauce – store bought or Homemade Buffalo Sauce
  • ranch dressing – store bought or Homemade Ranch Dressing
  • shredded cheddar cheese

How to Make Buffalo Chicken Dip

  1. COMBINE. Mix the chicken, cream cheese, buffalo sauce (whatever level of spiciness you prefer), ranch dressing, and 1 cup of shredded cheese until everything is well combined.
  2. BAKE. Pour into a greased 9×9 dish. Sprinkle bleu cheese crumbles and the remaining ยฝ cup of cheese on top. Bake at 350ยฐF for 20 minutes. Serve immediately.

Recipe Tips

  • Adjust the heat. The cream cheese and cheese in this recipe will help temper the heat in the sauce.
    • If you still find it too hot, mix some hot sauce with melted butter before measuring it out to use in the recipe.
    • For added heat, mix chopped jalapeรฑos into the dip or sprinkle on red chili flakes.
    • Using black pepper and garlic powder is a way to enhance the flavor without changing the heat of the dish.
  • Serving the dip. Set out at room temperature for up to 2 hours. If using a food warmer, ensure the temperature stays above 140ยฐF. Stir occasionally to keep warm.
  • Oily dip. Some oil on top is normal, but pools of it aren’t very appetizing. This can happen if the ingredients weren’t mixed together well enough or have separated. Remedy it by blotting the excess oil with a paper towel and then stirring the mixture together over medium heat.

Storing info

  • STORE. Leftovers will generally last for 2-3 days in the fridge.
  • FREEZE. If you happen to have a lot left over, freeze the leftovers for 3-4 months to be used later.
  • Make ahead of time. Make this ahead of time and store it in the fridge for 1-2 days or in the freezer for 3-4 months. When youโ€™re ready to use it, follow the cooking directions as written. If it was frozen, thaw in the refrigerator before cooking.
  • To reheat in the microwave: use a microwave-safe dish. Heat on high for 30-40 seconds at a time stirring in between. Continue heating until youโ€™ve reached your desired temperature.
  • To reheat in the oven: Preheat the oven to 350ยฐF. Place dip in an oven-safe baking dish. Baking time will vary depending on the amount of leftovers. Start with 7-9 minutes. If it needs more time, bake longer, checking frequently until youโ€™ve reached your desired temperature.

Buffalo Chicken Dip

Extra creamy buffalo chicken dip has all the flavor of hot wings in one of our easiest, cheesiest, and most popular hot dips!

Ingredients 

  • 2 cups shredded cooked chicken
  • 1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup buffalo sauce
  • 1 cup ranch dressing
  • 1ยฝ cups shredded cheddar cheese, divided
  • blue cheese crumbles

Instructions 

  • Preheat the oven to 350ยฐF.
  • In a medium bowl, mix chicken, cream cheese, buffalo sauce, ranch dressing, and 1 cup of cheddar cheese until well combined.
  • Pour into a greased 9×9-inch baking dish.
  • Sprinkle with the remaining ยฝ cup cheddar and the blue cheese.
  • Bake for 20 minutes. Serve immediately with bread or tortilla chips.

    I’m not a fan of bleu cheese so I left that out. The rest of the dip was delicious! My kids got creative and rolled it up in a flour tortilla as for me I liked it best using tortilla chips. I’ll definitely be making this again soon!
