We are pizza LOVERS, and we are casserole lovers, so what happens when you combine the two?! A family favorite we call pizza casserole!

When we don’t have time for homemade Pepperoni Pizza, our go-to is this pizza casserole. It’s prepped in under 10 minutes and is SO easy to assemble. Our kids often whip this up themselves – it’s perfect for sharing with friends, especially since it’s ready to devour in only 30 minutes.

Because it’s so easy, we often have this as a weeknight dinner. The ingredients are simple, and it makes a pan-full so there’s plenty for everyone!

Some more pizza recipes your family will be sure to love include Pepperoni Grilled Cheese Pizza, Pull Apart Pizza Bread, and a delicious Strawberry Nutella Pizza for dessert.

  • So easy the kids can do it. With simple steps, this recipe takes just 8 minutes of prep time, which makes it an AH-MAZING easy dinner idea.
  • Flavor variations. Casseroles are, by nature, versatile, and this pizza version is no different! Just top it with your favorites and make it your own.
  • Family-friendly. It’s easy, it’s cheesy – it’s delicious. The entire family loves it.
Ingredients for pizza casserole recipe on white counter.
  • Grands Biscuits (1, 16.3-ounce can): Cut and tossed with sauce, they bake into soft, pull apart pockets that mimic a thick, doughy pizza crust. Or useย Homemade Pizza Dough. Pinch off 64 small pieces that are 7 grams each.
  • Pizza sauce, Classico or homemade or homemade white pizza sauce (1, 8-ounce jar): Adds classic tomato, garlic, and herb flavor that soaks into the biscuits for that true pizza taste.
  • Mozzarella cheese, shredded, divided (3 cups): Half melts through the casserole for creamy pull, the rest blankets the top for a golden, bubbly finish.
  • Pizza seasoning (1 teaspoon): A quick herb blend that boosts savory pizza flavor in every bite. Use store-bought orย Homemade Pizza Seasoning.
  • Pizza toppings: Pepperoni, veggies, olives, or whatever you love, add salty bite and texture to customize the bake.

PREP. Preheat oven to 375ยฐF.

COMBINE. Cut the biscuits into 8 parts each. Add those to a bowl and mix with pizza sauce and half of the shredded Mozzarella cheese. Mix this well and pour the mixture into a greased 9×13 casserole dish.

BAKE. Top with the remaining shredded cheese and pepperoni slices, then sprinkle pizza seasoning on top. Bake for 18-22 minutes or until the biscuits are cooked and the cheese is melted.

    • Cut each biscuit into 8 pieces as written, then separate the pieces so every bite gets coated with sauce and cheese.
    • Bake until biscuits are golden at the edges and cheese is browned in spots, then check the center for doneness.
    • To bake smaller sizes, divide the ingredients evenly using two 8-inch square baking dishes and then bake for 18-20 minutes. Serve one, and cool and freeze the other for later.
    • The sauce may cause the biscuit pieces to be tacky on the outside, but the interior will be fully cooked. For further baking, tent a piece of tin foil over the top until cooked through.
    • Meat lovers. pepperoni, ham, beef, Italian sausage, bacon
    • Supreme. Italian sausage crumbles, ground beef crumbles, mushrooms, bell peppers, red onions
    • Hawaiian. ham and pineapple, and green bell peppers for even more flavor
    • Veggie. green peppers, red onions, black olives, mushrooms, Roma tomatoes
    • BBQ chicken. Use 1 cup of BBQ Sauce instead of pizza sauce and top with shredded chicken and chopped basil
    • NOTE: Heavier toppings like mushrooms or peppers cook best if sautรฉed first to release moisture.

    Notes

    Recipe tips.
    • Smaller pan. Divide the ingredients evenly using two 8-inch square baking dishes and bake for 18-20 minutes. Serve one, and cool and freeze the other for later.
    • We love classic pepperoni, but any favorite pizza toppings can be used.
    • We use refrigerated buttermilk biscuit dough, but flaky biscuits or even pizza dough can be used.
    • The sauce may cause the biscuit pieces to be tacky on the outside, but the interior will be fully cooked. For further baking, tent a piece of tin foil over the top until cooked through.
Prep ahead of time. Prep the pizza a day ahead of time. Store, covered, in the fridge until you’re ready to bake. If needed, add a couple more minutes to the baking time to account for the chilled ingredients.ย
Freezer meal. Bake the dish before freezing. Cover the cooled pizza with plastic wrap and again with foil and freeze for up to 3 months. Thaw before reheating in the oven. Smaller portions can be heated in the microwave.ย
Store leftoversย in an airtight container(s) in the fridge for up to 4 days or frozen for 2-3 months. Reheat in the oven or microwave.

Do you precook veggies if adding? Mix with sauce or add to top. Recipe sounds great.

      1. Lil' Luna Team says:

You can lightly sautรฉ the veggies first if you want them softer, or add them raw for a bit more texture. Mixing them with the sauce works great, but adding a few on top before baking makes it extra colorful and tasty!

This was a great fast meal to make. Had teenage grandkids over and they loved it. Made a salad with it too. Thanks for the recipe!

Great recipe! When do you add the pizza seasoning?

      1. Lil'Luna Team says:

You can sprinkle it on top before baking. You can also add it to the sauce as you mix the biscuits in it. Either way!! The seasoning just adds a bit more flavor. You can omit if you prefer, too.
