A Unique Breakfast to Love!

We enjoy breakfast so much that we eat it every Wednesday for dinner.

We enjoy everything from pancake recipes to breakfast casseroles to waffle recipes.

Recently, we decided to try making Puff Pastry waffles, and they did NOT disappoint. Not only were they puffy and crispy, but they were so simple and so delicious!

Why we love them:

  • Crazy quick. There is almost zero prep time to whip these up!
  • Get creative. Top your waffles with your favorites – anything from Strawberry Sauce to Blueberry Sauce to Whipped Cream. Or try making them savory!
  • Enjoy any time. Waffles are easy to store and reheat and can even be frozen for later consumption.

Ingredients

  • 1 (17.3-ounce) package frozen puff pastry puff pastry is found in the freezer section of the grocery store (Dufour is a great brand). Thaw the pastry sheets before making the waffles. Refrigerate if needed to keep them from getting too warm.
  • cooking spray – or brush with melted butter
  • optional garnish – berries and mint

How to Make PUff Pastry Waffles

  1. PREP. Line a cutting board with parchment paper. Unfold 1 (17.3-ounce) package puff pastry sheet onto the cutting board. Cut each sheet into 4 equal squares.
    • Preheat a waffle iron according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Grease the cooking surface of your waffle maker with cooking spray.
  2. COOK. Place one puff pastry square in the preheated waffle iron; cook until golden brown, 3-5 minutes. Repeat with remaining puff pastry squares.
  3. ENJOY! Garnish with berries and mint.

Make Filled Waffles

AKA “Puffles”. Lay one pastry sheet down, add a sweet or savory filling to the center (do not overfill), then top with a second piece of pastry. Use water to seal the top pastry dough to the bottom pastry. Place in the waffle iron and cook.

  • Sweet filling ideas: chocolate chips, peanut butter, Nutella, cream cheese, mini marshmallows, apple pie filling, and more
  • Savory filling ideas: slices of ham or turkey, a layer of jam or cranberry sauce, Swiss cheese, or grainy Dijon mustard
