A Party Favorite!

Appetizers are a MUST at any of our functions, especially New Year’s (where we eat only appetizers), and especally holiday parties. It was actually at a holiday party that we were introduced to this dip years ago.

Since then, we have made buffalo chicken dip any chance we can get because we love it so much, and it’s a party favorite. It’s extra cheesy and tastes like Buffalo Wings (chicken and all) but in a creamy dip! Now that’s delicious!!

It’s one of our most popular dip recipes on the site year after year, and for good reason! We know you’ll love it.

WHY WE LOVE IT:

  • Flavor explosion. It’s a dip with all the flavor of Buffalo Wings (without all the work) and is certainly addicting.
  • Ready in no time. It’s REALLY simple to make. It only takes about 5 minutes of prep.
  • Customizable. Depending on how strong you like your flavors, you can adjust the amount of buffalo sauce or blue cheese to your liking.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups shredded cooked chicken – see Shredded Chicken, shred a rotisserie chicken from the grocery store, or use canned chicken (drained)
  • 8 ounces cream cheese – softened
  • 1 cup buffalo sauce – store-bought or Homemade Buffalo Sauce. For added heat, mix in chopped jalapeños, hot sauce, or sprinkle on red chili flakes.
  • 1 cup ranch dressing – store-bought or Homemade Ranch Dressing
  • 1½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • blue cheese crumbles, optional
  • optional dippablesFritos scoops, Tortilla Chips, Club and Ritz crackers, French Bread, toasted baguette slices, pita chips, Soft Pretzels, veggies like celery sticks or carrot sticks

How to Make Buffalo Chicken Dip

  1. COMBINE. Mix 2 cups shredded chicken, 8 ounces softened cream cheese, 1 cup buffalo sauce (whatever level of spiciness you prefer), 1 cup ranch dressing, and 1 cup of shredded cheese until everything is well combined.
  2. BAKE. Pour into a greased 9×9 dish. Sprinkle bleu cheese crumbles and the remaining ½ cup of cheese on top. Bake at 350°F for 20 minutes. Serve immediately.

Fix Oily Dip

Some oil on top is normal, but pools of it aren’t. This can happen if the ingredients aren’t mixed well enough or have separated. Remedy it by blotting the excess oil with a paper towel and then stir the dip.

Such a great dip! My whole family always ask for the recipe and compliments it! I planned on doubling it today but unfortunately only had 1 cream cheese on hand so I used a few scoops of sour cream. We will see how it turns out 🤪

Not as good as the recipe on the Frank’s red hot sauce bottle- double the ranch dressing and hot sauce makes for a very soupy dip. Won’t make again.

I’m not a fan of bleu cheese so I left that out. The rest of the dip was delicious! My kids got creative and rolled it up in a flour tortilla as for me I liked it best using tortilla chips. I’ll definitely be making this again soon!
