Buffalo Chicken Pizza Ingredients And Substitutions
- 1 ball of pizza dough – We have a great Homemade Pizza Dough recipe we love to use. If you buy dough from the store, consult the directions on the package when making this recipe.
- 2 cups shredded cooked chicken – We like to cook the chicken at home or grab a rotisserie chicken to shred.
- ⅓ cup buffalo sauce – Look for buffalo wing sauce that will match your desired amount of heat, or make Buffalo Sauce at home to your exact preferences.
- ¼ cup blue cheese dressing – or Ranch Dressing
- ¼ cup blue cheese crumbles – We love buffalo sauce and blue cheese combo, but mozzarella or provolone cheese would also taste great.
- 2 tablespoons fresh cilantro, chopped
- optional toppings – tomato slices, jalapenos, banana peppers, bacon bits, or red onions
How to Make Buffalo Chicken Pizza
- PREP. Preheat the oven to 500°F with a pizza stone or overturned cookie sheet inside. Stretch the pizza dough into a 12-inch circle on a sheet of parchment paper dusted with cornmeal (or bake the pizza on a pizza pan instead).
- ASSEMBLE. In a small bowl, toss the chicken with the buffalo sauce. Spread the blue cheese dressing over the pizza, then top with the shredded chicken. Sprinkle the blue cheese crumbles over the top.
- BAKE. Bake for 9-11 minutes in the preheated oven or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
- Remove the pizza from the oven and sprinkle it with the cilantro. Serve hot.
Kristyn’s Recipe Tips
- To avoid soggy pizza dough, preheat your oven and pizza stone or use a perforated pizza pan to allow steam to escape, don’t overload the pizza with wet toppings, and make sure the crust isn’t too thick.
- Look for buffalo sauce that will match the desired level of heat. Add hot sauce or red chili flakes to your slice for added spiciness.
- As a time saver, we like to have shredded chicken in the freezer or grab a rotisserie chicken from the grocery store to shred.
