How to Make Pizza Casserole

  1. PREP. Preheat oven to 375°F.
  2. COMBINE. Cut the biscuits into 8 parts each. Add those to a bowl and mix with pizza sauce and half of the shredded Mozzarella cheese. Mix this well and pour into a greased 9×13 casserole dish.
  3. BAKE. Top with the remaining shredded cheese and pepperoni slices. Sprinkle pizza seasoning on top. Bake for 18-22 minutes or until the biscuits are cooked and the cheese is melted.
  • To bake smaller sizes, divide the ingredients evenly using two 8-inch square baking dishes and bake for 18-20 minutes. Serve one, and cool and freeze the other for later.
  • We use refrigerated buttermilk biscuit dough, but flaky biscuits or even pizza dough can be used.
  • The sauce may cause the biscuit pieces to be tacky on the outside, but the interior will be fully cooked. For further baking, tent a piece of tin foil over the top until cooked through.

Other Favorite Pizza Toppings

  • Meat lovers. pepperoni, ham, beef, Italian sausage, bacon
  • Supreme. Italian sausage crumbles, ground beef crumbles, mushrooms, bell peppers, red onions
  • Hawaiian. ham and pineapple, and green bell peppers for even more flavor
  • Veggie. green peppers, red onions, black olives, mushrooms, Roma tomatoes
  • BBQ chicken. Use 1 cup of BBQ Sauce instead of pizza sauce and top with shredded chicken and chopped basil

Notes

Recipe tips.
  • Smaller pan. Divide the ingredients evenly using two 8-inch square baking dishes and bake for 18-20 minutes. Serve one, and cool and freeze the other for later.
  • We love classic pepperoni, but any favorite pizza toppings can be used.
Prep ahead of time. Prep the pizza a day ahead of time. Store, covered, in the fridge until you’re ready to bake. If needed, add a couple more minutes to the baking time to account for the chilled ingredients.
Freezer meal. Bake the dish before freezing. Cover the cooled pizza with plastic wrap and again with foil and freeze for up to 3 months. Thaw before reheating in the oven. Smaller portions can be heated in the microwave.
Store leftovers in an airtight container(s) in the fridge for up to 4 days or frozen for 2-3 months. Reheat in the oven or microwave.

Great recipe! When do you add the pizza seasoning?

    1. Lil'Luna Team says:

You can sprinkle it on top before baking. You can also add it to the sauce as you mix the biscuits in it. Either way!! The seasoning just adds a bit more flavor. You can omit if you prefer, too.

  5. Dorothy Turner says:

Can I use pizza dough as no biscuits available and do I need to bake dough first or just combine everything?

  6. Jane says:

Can I make this a day before and keep in fridge?

    1. Lil'Luna Team says:

Yes! Just store it covered in the fridge until you’re ready to bake. You may need to add a couple more minutes to the bake time to account for the chilled ingredients.

I was looking for a quick, easy Friday night recipe when I came across this. It is really good. We are not casserole people necessarily, but this made us one. The recipe was easy and fast. We enjoyed it a lot, and I will be making it again soon. The only changes I made were using the 5 count biscuits and an 8×8 pan since we only have 3 to feed. Thank you for sharing this recipe.

If you wanted to avoid all the carbs in the biscuits, could you use a can of refrigerated pizza dough? Has anyone tried something like that? Would you need to pre-bake the crust before adding all the ingredients? Thanks!

  12. Amanda says:

Should I use the Grands southern homestyle biscuits or the flaky layers? Does anyone know what biscuit was used in the pictures?
