This is one of the BEST and easiest dinner recipes using Pillsbury crescent rolls.
A family friend first made these chicken stuffed crescent rolls years ago when we had a new baby. They were so delicious, we HAD to get the recipe.
Her family calls them chicken pockets, but whatever you decide to call them, they’re going to blow your mind! You can imagine that crescent rolls stuffed with shredded chicken, cream cheese, cream of chicken, and Italian dressing mix would be pretty awesome – and they are!!
The canned dough comes in handy when we’re in a pinch, and we can make easy meals like this one, Pigs in a Blanket, or Spinach Roll Ups!
Why we think you’ll love it:
- A favorite shortcut! We love easy recipes, and using canned crescent roll dough makes this recipe a breeze.
- Cooks up in minutes! About 10 minutes to be exact. This is a simple 30-minute recipe that makes our weeknights easy!
- The flavors. These stuffed crescent rolls are packed with some of our favorite, comforting flavors. We often make two batches because they disappear in minutes!
Chicken Stuffed Crescent Roll Ingredients And Substitutions
- 2 (8-ounce) cans of Pillsbury crescent roll dough
- 2 (10.5-ounce) cans of cream of chicken soup – You can also use cream of mushroom soup or cream of celery soup, or we have a recipe for a Cream Soup Substitute.
- 8 ounces cream cheese softened
- 2 – 3 cups shredded cooked chicken – Try this shredded chicken recipe, shred a rotisserie chicken, or use canned chicken.
- 1 packet Italian dressing mix (or 3 tablespoons)
- 2 – 3 green onions chopped – optional
- optional cheese – Add up to ¼ cup grated parmesan cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, mozzarella cheese, or Colby cheese.

How to Make Chicken Stuffed Crescent Rolls
- PREP. Preheat oven to 375°F.
- GRAVY. Add cream cheese and both cans of soup to a medium pot on medium heat. Mix.
- Add the dressing mix and stir until well combined. Turn down to low heat.
- FILLING. Pour most of the mixture into a large bowl, leaving enough in the pan to use as gravy to put on the chicken bundles.
- Add the chicken and the green onions to the large bowl and mix. Set aside.
- ASSEMBLE. Separate the crescent roll dough and place the individual triangles on a baking sheet.
- Scoop a spoonful of chicken mix onto the crescent roll dough and roll (we fold the left side in, right side in, and then roll towards the long point).
- BAKE. Bake in the oven for 9-12 minutes.
- Pour the remaining gravy over the top and serve warm.

Kristyn’s Recipe Tips
- We prefer to use chicken that was cooked in the crock pot and then shredded or even a rotisserie chicken.
- Do not overfill the crescent rolls otherwise the bundles may not hold together.
- For golden brown bundles, whisk 1 egg with 1 tablespoon water and brush the top of each bundle before baking.

To make ahead or store leftovers, cool the bundles and place them in a Ziploc bag. Refrigerate for 3-4 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
To reheat, place the desired amount in a baking dish and bake in a 325°F oven until warmed through (about 15 minutes). You can also reheat individual roll-ups in the microwave in 30-second increments until warm.

Love this idea. Went to make them but I only had cream of mushroom which I don’t care for. I was set on making it so subbed in tomato soup and added some fajita seasoning. My kids loved it!
Can wait to try the real way!
Great idea, and I’m so pleased it turned out well! You’ll have to let me know how you like the original version once you make it.
Thanks for this recipe, I love these, and could not find my recipe. Saving this one!! So delicious, and easy, and not a lot of ingredients!!
That’s why I love it, too! 🙂
A great recipe, very comforting food
I’m going to try looks good
Hope you enjoy!!
This recipe sounds delicious. It is on my to do list, thanks
These are easy to make and extremely delicious! Even my super picky youngest son, who has Autism, ate these up!!
These are delicious! However, they took about 20 minutes to fully bake the roll part. At 11 minutes they were still doughy.
Hi my family loved this. I had extra chicken stuffing left over – can you freeze this?
Yes, you can!
I absolutely love this recipe and so does the entire family. They are so savory and delicious!! I was going off my memory when buying the ingredients and accidentally bought ranch dressing mix instead of Italian. I’m curious if it would turn out ok, or if I should run back out to the store. I suppose I could also google search for any other substitute. Anyway, LOVE this meal. By far a favorite!!
I haven’t tried ranch, but it would probably work? It would have a different flavor, obviously. You’ll have to let us know what you ended up deciding to use. So glad you enjoy the chicken bundles!
I have actually only used dry ranch powder with this recipe and it’s AMAZING!!!! I use 1/2 TBS less though because ranch is strong. For the gravy I add milk to loosen it up a bit. Absolutely delicious and thank you for the recipe! 🙂
This, unfortunately, was not a hit with my family.
Can I make the rolls the day before, then add the sauce before baking? Would make my life so much easier the day of the luncheon!
Yes! You could prep the filling and roll the bundles. Just keep covered in plastic wrap or in an airtight container in the fridge. Then bake as directed when you are ready. After they are baked you can add the extra gravy (which you’ll need to reheat to pour on top).
Made this tonight. With only two of us, I cut the recipe in half. For the excess sauce, I added some chicken broth to the proper thickness & what was left of the filling; it was really good
Thanks for giving the recipe a try! So glad you enjoyed the bundles!
Can you freeze this meal? Thanks!
Yes, you probably could. You’ll have to let us know how they turn out if you do!
I made these tonight but cut the recipe in half, I liked that they really filled the roles up. I usually hate the flavor of crescent roles but I really enjoyed this recipe! Nice quick way to use some leftover chicken.
We loved the Chicken stuffed crescent roll recipe. It was easy and quick to make. Winner here
I love to hear that!! Thank you for sharing that!
My family loves this tasty but quick meal.
Do you think you could do this in a 9 x13 or so baking pan with one layer of dough on the bottom and one on the top with the chicken mixture in the middle or would it be to thick to cook well?
That is how my father in law makes them & they always turn out sooo good 😋 makes them tonight this way
How many rolls is a serving?
1 generously filled roll would be a serving size or 2 small filled rolls.
Looks yummy and easy!
I have made these twice and theyre too wet. The amount of filling to the crescent roll is too much. I even cut down to one cream of chicken and it didn’t turn out. Maybe my crescent rolls are just to small
Thanks for the feedback and for giving the recipe a try!
These are one of my family’s favorite meals. I make my gravy from the chicken broth I cooked the chicken in. Start with cream of chicken soup and sour cream, then add enough chicken broth to make it the consistency you like. So good!!
Love the crock ribs
Made these for the family before church and they loved them. Despite burning my finger on the pan I’ll Definitely be making them again. Thank you so much!
You’re welcome! Sorry to hear about the burn. So glad you all enjoyed the chicken bundles!
So delicious and a family favorite for sure! I have found I’ve had to almost double up on the amount of Cresent rolls I need. I’m not complaining about eating more of these though!
So glad you enjoy the recipe!! Definitely does make plenty of filling!
This is really pretty good! I added a sprinkle of sharp cheddar cheese before I rolled them up. I also baked them at least 13 minutes if not a little longer. I don’t like uncooked dough lol. My husband is a picky eater and he liked them! I used the whole mixture with only half the chicken and 1 pkg of dry mix (which is 1.5 TB) and made only 8 rolls. Thanks for the recIpe!!!
You’re welcome!! Thanks so much for giving the recipe a try and for sharing what you did. Glad to hear you hubby approved too! 😉
Shouldn’t the recipe say 2 pkg of Italian Dry Mix? I pkg is actually 1.5 TB not 3. It’s either that or it should say 1.5 TB.
Thanks for pointing that out. We’ll check and update the recipe card!
Per your suggestion I added the spinach. Not only were these fun to make, but they were a hit with the entire family. Thank you for always having great recipes.
You’re welcome! I’m so glad you enjoyed the recipe!!
Delicious, easy comfort food. Served with mashed potatoes and a veggie.
Sounds tasty!! Glad to hear you enjoyed!
How much is a serving? Any idea what the cholesterol count is?
I’d say about two of the bundles is a serving size. Not sure on the cholesterol count!
Too much sauce! Recommend using only 1 can of cream of chicken soup.
Thanks for the feedback and for giving the recipe a try!
Once you make the bundles, do you add any broth to the leftover gravy?
You don’t need to, but if you want to make it a bit thinner of a gravy, then you certainly could!
I made this and it was soo good
So so happy to hear that you enjoyed the bundles!
I’m looking forward to making this tonight. How many servings does 16 “bundles” make?
i don’t get how to roll these are they all seperate ? or one big sheet of dough on the cookie sheet? i see it says roll left side in then right side . these rolls are small so how does filling fit in ?
Yes, you pull each roll apart on the perferated cuts in the dough. Then use a few tablespoons (I usually use a cookie dough scoop or just a large spoonful) to fill in each crescent roll. Then roll up starting with the large side of the triangle and wrap the dough around.
These are so good!! My fiance and I make a double batch and freeze them. They are perfect to always have on hand. We like to add peas and carrots to them to incorporate some veggies in there as well. We end up using 5-6 cans of crescent rolls which is my only complaint about the recipe the first time around… I had wished I had bought more rolls for the amount of filling. Overall, super great for freezing and having on hand all the time!
Thanks for your feedback! I love that you just make a large batch and freeze to have them on hand when you’re in need of an easy dinner! And adding those veggies in sounds delicious too. Thanks for sharing!
I made this tonight. I only had cream of celery, so used that. I added a small package of real bacon bits and 4 oz of shredded pepper jack cheese.
They were sooooo good! I think next time I’ll use the big crescent rolls. Or flaky biscuits flattened out and after the mixture is put on it, either fold it over or put another biscuit on top and seal the edges.
Definitely pleased with how they turned out. Will be making them again.
Yay!! I’m so glad to hear you enjoyed the recipe. The addition of bacon and pepper jack sound delicious!
I made this. Very good but I had so much chicken mixture leftover and the sauce. Enough to make another recipe
Can these be frozen cooked?
You could freeze the filling and then just thaw and fill fresh crescent rolls when you are ready to have that meal again. That will yield the freshest roll. However, I haven’t tried cooking the full bundles from frozen, but you could give it a try. You could also roll them up and freeze, then thaw overnight in the fridge and cook in the oven the next day from thawed.
I made this. Very good but I had so much chicken mixture leftover and the sauce. Enough to make another recipe.
The extra filling should last in the fridge for a day or so, if you wanted to make another batch. I haven’t frozen these before (because they usually get eaten too quickly), but I imagine you could freeze the filling in a freezer bag. Then thaw completely and fill in fresh crescent roll dough for another dinner another night.
Do you add the water to the soup as you normally would?
No, just add the cans of soup. The gravy will be fairly thick.
These are so delicious… My whole Family loves them!
Yay! So glad to hear! They are a family favorite over here too. Thanks for giving the recipe a try.
Very good and easy to make!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed the recipe!
I made this yesterday using canned chicken. Because it turned out too salty, next time, I will use home cooked chicken and low sodium cream of chicken soup. I really liked it except for the saltiness.
Sounds like a good idea! You can certainly do that to adjust the sodium levels in the recipe to your liking. Thanks for sharing!
I tried to make these, but I couldn’t find anywhere what temperature to bake them at? Just says bake 9-12 minutes. so needless to say they didn’t turn out.
Hi Julie! Step one of the instructions says to preheat the oven to 375 degrees. So they will bake at that temperature for the 9-12 minutes (from step 8). You’ll have to give them another try and see how they turn out! 🙂
Going to make today for my folks and I using rotisserie chicken and cream of celery cutting recipe in half for the 3 of us. Been wanting to to try.
Ooh I love using rotisserie chicken in recipes when I’m in a hurry or have it on hand. Sounds like good substitutions. Hope you enjoy the bundles!
This is so good, and enjoyed the process of making
Thank you! It’s a fun one. So glad you enjoyed it!
They are very good. How many are considered a serving?
1-2 bundles, depending on how full you stuff them! 🙂
I had alot of mixture left over! Did I do something wrong?
No, it probably just depended on how large you filled each roll. You could either stuff the rolls a bit more, or you could use another can of crescent rolls and make a few more until the mixture is all used up.
Delicious 😋 recipe! I am anxious to try it again, next time with the optional green onions!
Thank you! I’m a fan of the green onions… hopefully you will enjoy them in the bundles too!
Too many for us two older people, so can these be frozen for later meals?
Yes! You can freeze for later!
I made this. Very good but I had so much chicken mixture leftover and the sauce. Enough to make another recipe
Can these be frozen cooked?
My family loved these and they are so easy…I use rotisserie chicken…thank you
Using a rotisserie chicken makes it even easier. I love it! I’m so glad your family enjoyed them. 🙂
My package of Italian Dressing does not have 3 Tablespoons in it. It only has a little over 3 teaspoons. I wanted to make sure of the correct measurement before I add it.
If it is a full packet, it should have enough seasoning to make the recipe flavorful. I typically use the 0.7 oz packet and it tastes great! If you want a heaver Italian seasoning, you can add more.
I want to try these this weekend. Has anyone used cream of mushroom soup or cream of chicken with mushrooms in place of the 1 can of chicken soup?
No but ibused cream of bacon to make it evwn better
Makes way too much filling!
Sorry about that! Thanks for letting us know.
So easy and delicious! I used 3 rolls crescent dough as there was so much of the filing. My family really likes these
I’m so happy you and your family liked it! Thanks for sharing what you do!
I just had to laugh. Someone said something about making it with the ranch dressing. I thought that is what it said to do! I guess I read it wrong. I have to tell you that it tastes great made with the ranch dressing mix! Next time I will try it with the Italian!! Haha
🙂 I’m glad you liked the Ranch Dressing version as well! I think that would also be tasty!
Wanda, that’s what I just did, tonight. You posted yesterday. I posted today.
What did you like better, the ranch or Italian dressing?
I personally like the Italian dressing a little better – but just a tad bit better. 🙂
Could I add the italian mix and cream cheese and cream of chicken soup in Crock pot with the chicken and then cook it on high for 4 hours?
You can add the Italian mix and cream of chicken soup to the Crockpot with the chicken and cook it on high for 4 hours but add the cream cheese in small chunks 15 minutes before the 4 hour mark and mix together with everything. Cream cheese will curdle if it cooks for too long at high temps so adding the cream cheese 15 minutes before you are done cooking will ensure a smooth sauce for your chicken bundles.
That’s how I’m doing it today!
I have made these before and you can also use Tuna with spinach or asparagus. I have also used puff pastry I make 2 inch strips fill 1 half then fold it over and seal edges.
Sounds yummy! Thanks so much for the tips!
Making them right after I go to the store
Yay!! Hope you liked them!
Would like to try this with puff pastry.
I haven’t tried, but it’s a great option! Thank you!
What about using a packet oF ranch dressing instead of italian?
I haven’t tried, but you sure could 🙂 Enjoy!
Kim, have you tried it with Ranch dressing yet?
have you tried this yet ?
I used Ranch dressing and it was delicious.
tHIS TURNED OUT PRETTY GOOD! i ADDED CORN AND PEAS, TO KICK UP THE VEGGIE NUTRITION AND INSTEAD OF MAKING INTO CRESCENTS, I MADE A BIG SQUARE OUT OF 2 – THAT WORKED GREAT!! i’LL DEF MAKE THIS AGAIN!
Good idea! I will have to try that! Thank you for sharing that!
Does the bottom of Bundle bake as the top or foes it get a little mushy?
It doesn’t get golden like the tops, but it doesn’t get super mushy either. It might get a little mushy, but not all the time. Just depends if sauce gets on the bottom. They are super yummy. Hope you try them!
Thank you so much for posting the nutrition facts with the recipe. But I cannot find a serving size listed — do you know that? I am guessing Maybe two of the pockets?
It would be more for 1.
What do you serve with it?
Any kind of veggie side dish would work great!
My daughter was making chicken bundles last night and they sounded so good that I decided to get the recipe. You have some easy recipes. There is only one of me now as my husband died in September. Do you think the bundle recipe could be halved and still taste as good?
I am sorry about your hubby 🙁 Yes, you could always half a recipe & it would still be great! Thank you so much!
I just made this and we loved it! Thanks for the idea!
Glad to share! I am happy to hear that you loved them! Thank you!
I would Use about half of the dressing packet, this was way too salTy and the whole filling concoCtion became very gummy.
Just made this tonight and I’m making it a regular!! Soooo good. Even my picky eater, who likes things as PLAin as POSSible, scarfed down a couple of these!
Yay!! I love hearing that!! Thank you for trying it!
Hi. CAN i wrap these up the night before or morning oF a party and cook them later? Would that work or would they get too soggy before baking? Thanks.
I haven’t tried that. They might, but honestly can’t say, since I haven’t made them that far in advance. I would think the morning of would be ok 🙂
I love to bake and making dinner, lunch and breakfast.
Hmmm..I have not tried that, but I would maybe look to see on the package how much it makes, if you were to make a dressing with it, then you that same amount. Hope that helps 🙂
Can I make these ahead of time, store in the fridge for a day and then bake? Or will they get soggy?
You probably could, but I would maybe add the sauce on top until right before you bake. That should help prevent it getting soggy. Hope you enjoy!
We love these. I also roll them in some bread crumbs before baking to give them a little crunch. So delicious!
Great idea!! Thank you for sharing!
How long will these keep in the fridge? Could they be frozen and then thawed out?
I would only keep them a few days in the fridge & I have not tried freezing them, but they may work just fine 🙂 You could keep them maybe a week in the fridge, after that I personally throw it out.
Hey Kristyn!
How long does this recipe take to make? Looks so yummy!!
Maybe about 20 minutes from start to finish? The bake for 9-12 minutes. Hope that helps!! Thanks for stopping by!
This Weekend going to be really Deliciouse 🙂 You gave me perfect Recipy. Thank you
Oh, I hope you like them, as much as we do! Thanks so much!
I tried this one Oh so Good ! Ty
I’m so glad!! Thank you so much for letting me know!
STUPIS QUESTION , BUT DO U DILUTE THE SOUP ?
No such thing as a stupid question 😉 No, you just follow the instructions exactly and add it with the cream cheese. It almost makes like a gravy consistency. It’s yum! Hope that helps and hope you like it!
Please can you tell me what’s cream of chicken soup? And what’s the alternate for this?
How much does this recipe make? I only need to feed my husband and me.
I can’t seem to remember how many triangles are in one can, but you could just half the recipe, using only one can. Hope you like them 🙂
There’s 8 triangles in a can, and my husband loved them! We just had a little leftover filling. Thanks!
Great, I’m glad you liked them 🙂 Thanks for letting me know!
Made this tonight! It’s a keeper. My husband and I had enough left over for another meal. We’re going to try the filling in a wrap. Delicious!!!
Oh I’m so happy to hear that!! That sounds like a yummy way to enjoy the filling too. Thanks for sharing!
My family really enjoyed these! I used homemade crescent rolls and three cups of chicken. The recipe makes a lot of sauce, so next time I may just make a half batch of the chicken broth/cream cheese mixture and use two cups of chicken instead of three.
Thank you very much for sharing this delicious meal!
Could I mix in some baby spinach into the chicken and cream cheese?
I’m not a big fan of cream of chicken soup (any cream soups, really). Can I leave it out or sub in something else?
Yum! I LOVE THESE!!!!!!!
Thanks, Maria!! And thanks for stopping by. 😉
This is total comfort food and I know my kids would devour it! Crescent rolls just make me so happy. 🙂
You and me both! So many great recipes you can make with Crescent rolls. 😀 Thanks for stopping by!
Wow, classic comfort food right here. Great photos.
Thank you so much, Michelle!
So creamy, the perfect comfort food!
I’m DYING! These look AH-MAZ-ING!!!!!!!!! We really should be neighbors – wanna move to the lake??
I am in love! I have seen versions of these before but this recipe looks the best! Thanks for sharing.
My kids would love these!
My kids loved them too!! 😀
Such a cute and clever recipe. Great for a party!
Thanks, Amy!!
Looks delicious! Of course, cream cheese makes just about everything delicious. Thanks for the recipe!!
LOL! You really can’t go wrong with cream cheese and cream of chicken. 😉 Have a great day, Crystal!
Thank you Kristyn. Keep smiling and have a good weekend
Thanks, Liz!! Hope you have a great week. 😀
Can Italian dressing be used instead of the mix?
I personally have not tried. I am guessing the liquid will change the recipe.
