First recipe I ever tried from lil luna. Love the flavors and easy recipe. When I need to take a dinner to a neighbor or friend, this is my go to recipe. I love all of the other recipes too.
So so happy to hear that! Thank you for making the recipe. I’m glad it was a hit!
Is the nutritional information for the whole dish or just one serving size? Oh also I made this for my family last night and we loved it! Leftovers for tonight!
It would be for a serving size. This recipe says it serves 8, so if you divided the casserole into 8 portions, that would be the nutrition info. Chances are everything might be less if you had more than 8 servings from the dish. Hope that helps!
This recipe was pretty good. It would be good for a group meal. It should please most people. I was able to use leftovers of baked chicken and thin whole wheat spaghetti noodles (as a linguini substitute.) I did add drained peas and carrots (microwaved from frozen) and just a sprinking of panko for a little crunch on top. The main recipe can be tweaked as suggested in the notes. I was afraid all the soup and sour cream would be too much but it worked out just fine. A likely crowd pleaser I will probably make again.
This dish was absolutely fantastic!! But had to halve it as I am single but that was more than enough for myself a neighbor and a couple of servings for the freezer!!! I enjoy your website so much as the recipes are simple but impressive!!! Keep up the excellent work and enjoy all of that little family!!!!
Thank you so much!! So glad to hear you enjoyed the dish!
The 16 ounces of linguine is that before or after it is cooked?
Great taste, everyone enjoyed! Reduced chicken and used less pasta (the box was 14.5) otherwise made as written.
I have made this recipe several times using left over chicken, turkey and even shredded pork turns out perfect every time. Sometimes I use cream of chicken, or cream of mushroom, and also used cream of cheddar soup. You just can’t go wrong.
Made this tonight for dinner. Only change I made was the pasta (I used angel hair, as I didn’t have any linguini). Already added this to my favorites! Thanks for a tasty recipe!!
Loved it! Never tried to make something like this before but I did it!
It’s very simple but delicious! My family loves it. You can also feed a lot of people with 1 pan of this recipe. Thanks for sharing
Is it possible to make this Chicken Tetrazzini in the crockpot for summer?
I love this recipe for one it is easy n tasty n also all the ingredients we have at home also it is a quick dish thx u for sharing your tasty recipes
My family loves this meal! There is nothing like creamy, cheesy pasta. I use either rotisserie or slow-cooked chicken, and the fact that you can make it ahead and simply top and bake when it is time is perfect!
An absolute favorite!! Grandkids will ask for.
This is like a comfort dish and tastes delicious as a leftover! It is a family favorite!
The description says “easy, creamy. and utterly delicious.” Right on all 3 accounts!
I love this recipe! I use wide egg noodles and it comes out great every time! Pretty easy to make and clean up as well.
I made this the other night. It was delish but it made a LOT. We ate it for three meals, spreading out the days. We were so sad when the last bite was taken!
CHICKEN TETRAZZINI
First of all, I must mention, that I am not a very good cook. Every Christmas I have a big brunch with various simple dishes and charcuterie foods. The one dish that always stresses me out is making a dish for my two picky eater daughters-in-law, both are vegetarians (but will eat chicken). With sweat on my brow (lol) I began making this Lil’ Luna recipe on Christmas Eve. It actually went together very nicely but my concern was, ‘will it taste good…will anyone even eat it… Yikes! Remembering that I ruined canned sweet potatoes one Thanksgiving Day! Christmas morning arrived and I popped it in the oven and served it to the group. The entry was a success and so delicious that I have made it often since…Easy-Peasy and yummy too!
This will be my go to tetrazzini recipe from now on. My husband immediately commented how good it was and wondered what I had done differently. I told him it was a new recipe. Thank you for sharing.
How much sour cream?
How many noodles? The whole box?
Did I miss the amounts used?
Just thought I would share a good way to make the chicken for this dish. We use chicken thighs. Sprinkle each side with zatarain’s blackened seasoning and cook 2 minutes each side on high. Puts a great crust on the chicken and just adds great flavor. Then chop up the chicken. Thank you for this recipe. We loved it!
This is the best!! I use fettuccini noodles and stir some Monterey Jack cheese into the mixture. I bake it halfway before adding the mozzarella to the top so it doesn’t burn. We love this!!!
Thanks for sharing what you do! I’m so glad you enjoyed the recipe!
Have you ever added diced pimentos to this?
I don’t typically, but you absolutely could! And it would taste delicoius!
I love this recipe. I use egg noodles, instead of linguine and add minced garlic! So good, so yummy and creamy.
I actually made it all on the stove top. I boiled my 1 pound of pasta, drained it and then put all the other ingredients in the pasta pot. I cooked it all together until all the cheese melted and it was heated through. Delicious!!
My family will love this!
Love this recipe. My family really enjoyed it and kids can’t wait to have it again. The pasta is easy to make and is creamy. The flavors are bursting! Thank you for sharing!
Just made this last night and it was fantastic! Definitely a keeper. Thank you for sharing so many great and easy meals! I will need to cut the recipe in half for my family of three next time. As far as freezing this, it seems as though your instructions are for freezing prior to cooking. If that is correct, can we freeze the leftovers AFTER it’s made?
Yes, you could freeze the leftovers too. Wrap it tightly and then I’d just defrost it in the fridge overnight and then reheat in the oven when you want to eat it again.
Hands down the best chicken tetrazzini recipe ever! Always a huge hit! I’ve made it for work potluck, week night dinners, and comfort food for friends!
Yay! I’m so glad this recipe has been such a hit!
Made this last night and it was yummy. My husband even had 2 helpings. I did use gluten free cream of chicken soup and gluten free pasta. Also added Italian seasoning, paprika, cayenne pepper, onion powder and threw i peas. Thanks for the recipe!
You’re welcome! Thanks for sharing how you tweaked things. So glad you all enjoyed the recipe!
YUM!! This is delicious! Even my 2 year old couldn’t get enough which is rare, so that’s a massive compliment to this recipe. I used my homemade cream of chicken soup in it which takes it to another level.
Oh that makes me so happy to hear!! Toddler approved! Thanks for sharing!
Don’t get me wrong, this was a decent dish, but the flavor wasn’t 5 stars… it was 3+, maybe 4. For ease of preparation, it was 5 stars, for sure! I’m comparing this to another tetrazzini recipe in which you make a roux from scratch, add more spices, and was fantastic, so maybe that’s not fair, but since I know there’s better, gotta be honest.
Thanks for the feedback and for giving the recipe a try.
What do you think you could substitute for the sour cream?
Plain greek yogurt is a great substitution. You could also try cream cheese.
So good! Added peas. Broccoli would have been great!
I added peas to it and it was fabulous!
I’m making this recipe for our family Christmas get together and I was asking people to bring a side to go with it. What would you suggest I was thinking a veggie dish something like vegetable medley. it would be easy enough to transport to someone’s house. I was also thinking, garlic Tuscan bread and a salad. Any other ideas for a side would be most welcome. Thank you.
Those sides sound incredible and would pair wonderfully with the tetrazzini! We love to serve cheesy garlic bread or breadsticks, a Caesar or side salad or a veggie of some sort… asparagus or roasted broccoli or Brussel sprouts. A fruit salad is yummy too. But I think what you’ve got planned sounds amazing!
This recipe is so easy and tastes soooo good. Everyone that I have made it for raves about it!
Literally the most amazing recipe on the internet! So easy and sooo delicious. My entire family craves this every week! I don’t ask what they want for dinner because they always say chicken tetrazzini. I serve it with peas and garlic knots.
Made this a couple of nights ago, everyone loved it. Made exactly as written, heats up great. I think it is even better the next day! Thank you!
Can this recipe be done in the crockpot for the chicken before baking with the noodles?
I’m sure it could. I haven’t made this one in the crock pot. We do have a Crock Pot Chicken Alfredo, so you could look at that for an idea of how to tweak this for a crock pot. You’ll have to let us know how it turns out if you try it in the slow cooker. https://lilluna.com/crock-pot-chicken-alfredo/
This is a family favorite! My little ones are picky eaters and they love when I make it. I serve it with a garden salad and garlic toast and everyone cleans their plates. Thank you for this simple, easy recipe using things I keep in the fridge and pantry.
LADIES, if you have not tried this recipe, you are missing a great ,great meal— it is so easy to get together and
So delicious even better the next day. A great go to recipe if you have company coming —- try it you will love it.
Thank you! I’m so glad you enjoyed the recipe!
This recipe is delicious!! I added a block of cream cheese to the mixture and it turned out amazing. Everyone loved it so much! Will make again.
Delicious and easy to make with very few ingredients. I divided the recipie in half and still had enough leftovers for another meal.
I make this as quick family meal I use a rotisserie chicken instead my whole family loves it !
One of our family favorites! Great leftovers too!
It is so good and easy I love making this also good with turkey
This is a good recipe but y’all forgot to tell people to add in the chicken, LOL. All joking aside it’s a wonderful dish. I’ve been making my my father’s version of chicken spaghetti probably close to 40 years. Everyone loves my chicken spaghetti, but this recipe is even better than my father’s recipe by my own admission. Well done Lil Luna. My community thanks you!
I’m so glad to hear you loved the recipe! In step 3, we did mention to add in the chicken with the rest of the sauce. It should be in there! 🙂 Thank you for the kind review and that means a lot that this recipe is as enjoyed as a family one. Thanks again!
It’s easy to miss adding the chicken based on how the instructions are worded -> “chicken, soup” could be read as “chicken soup” could maybe think about rearranging the way the ingredients are listed in step 3 🙂
Thanks for the feedback!
OM goodness! Ultimate comfort food! I halved it and it was perfect for hubby and me, with enough for tomorrow. Thank you for this recipe!
Ditto. My sentiments exactly Thea. You said it for me.
Thank you both! So glad you enjoyed the dish!
The casserole looks easy and delicious. I must try it.
I hope you will!! Hope you like it!
YUM to the max! I prepared this dish for dinner this evening and my family gobbled it up and asked for more. Next time, I will be sure to double the recipe to have leftovers. Thank you!
You are so welcome!! It makes great leftovers!! Thank you!
Yummy creamy comfort
Agreed 🙂 Thank you for sharing that!!
This recipe was delicious! Also made great leftovers! I used a box and a half of noodles and a pound and an half of chicken breast and it was perfect. Otherwise I felt like I was wasting the extra sauce.
I have 3 teenage boys and they love when I make it.I always double the recipe.
This recipe looks so good and easy to make!!
It really is!! It’s one of our favorites!! Hope you try it soon!!
This is a yummy recipe, my family loves it! Very easy to make and very tasty!
Happy your family likes it!! Thank you!
I make this recipe with low carb noodles and lots of vegetables. It’s a creamy way to sneak in the healthy stuff.
Great idea!! Thank you for sharing that!! I’ll have to try that!
This was absolutely delicious!!
This casserole is AMAZING! It is so easy to make and my husband and kids love it. IF we have leftovers they gobble them up the next day.
Made this recipe and my children LOVED it! They had seconds including myself.
I made this recipe, frooze half of it,I am using the remaining half for a quick, easy delicious meal tonight. My family loves this chicken dish.I used left over rotisserie chicken, it was delicious thank you
Seriously Kristyn this is one of my favorite dishes!!! Comfort food for sure!
My family absolutely loves this recipe! I always have to make double because if anyone in my family finds out I made it and didn’t make them some I am in trouble! Lol
I halved the recipe and added a can of cream of mushroom soup because I saw another recipe that included that as well. Easy, delicious and it was plenty for my family of 5! Thanks for sharing!
Do you use the big or small cans of cream of chicken?
I made this with chicken the first time and it was so good and so easy to make! The second time I made it I used 2 cans of cream of shrimp soup, about a pound of small shrimp and a 1/2 cup clam juice and 1/2 cup of chicken broth and it was so good with the shrimp and a nice little change on the same recipe!
Can I prepare this and bake at a different time? Wanting to make it for someone’s meal train.
Is there a way to prepare this and bake later?
I have a repertoire of company dishes and this is one that always gets rave reviews!! We love it and it’s one of my most asked for recipes…Thanks for making me look good:)
This is the most delicious Chicken Tetrazzini ever! It was so delicious!!!!! My kids loved it as well!
Easy recipe for a busy household and so delicious even my picky eaters love it !!
Good easy recipe! It froze well too!
A great recipe for using a rotisserie chicken – whole family loved it!! Served it with some fresh green beans and it was a perfect meal!
This recipe is so creamy and delicious, I couldn’t get enough of it! Thank you for sharing it, can’t wait to make it again!
Simply the best pasta dish out there! My whole family loved it! We used leftover turkey 🙂
I make this at least once per month, more in the fall and winter months bc the kids love it and the leftovers (if any) are just as delicious the next day. I substitute cheddar for the mozzarella, and add a pinch more salt, but this is in my family’s top 3 meals requested all year round. Thank you so much for the excellent recipe!
This was a really easy recipe and delicious. Definitely substitute French onion dip for sour cream. Adds so much flavor. Not too much onion at all.
That sounds yummy! Thanks for sharing what you did. Glad you enjoyed the recipe!
Absolutely one of the best recipes ever!! Very versatile. You can use any pasta you have on hand. I also make it with leftover turkey or chicken. Easy and quick to make.
Great recipe. I added chopped spinach to make it a one dish meal with a vegetable. Served with buttery corn bread.
I made this recipe to feed 2 hungry college men. I did use an entire chicken, not just the breasts, but next time, I will only use the the thighs and the breasts. I think the thighs add to the flavor of the chicken. I served garden peas with the tetrazinni because that is their favorite green vegetable.
What was not consumed that night, I sent back to their dorms with them (keeping a small serving for me). Warmed up the next day, it was even better! My college grandsons agreed with me. I am sure they will request it in the future.
I may cut back on the amount of cheese topping as it was ‘greasy’ on top.
I had to make a few tweaks, because I only had about 1 1/4 cups of sour cream, didn’t have any mozzarella (I just used more Parmesan), and had only 1 can of cream of chicken. So I used that, and 1 can of cream of celery, and I made it with fettuccine, because that’s what I had in the cupboard. Yet, it was STILL delicious. 🙂
Making tonight. I’ve made this recipe before, it’s really good and it’s easy to make.
Can I use heavy whipping cream instead of sour cream
You could try. The texture would be more runny I imagine. Another good sub for sour cream is plain greek yogurt if you have that on hand.
Great recipe. So easy. I used Greek yogurt instead of sour cream. Added mushrooms, Peas, thyme, and a little garlic salt instead of regular salt fot more flavor. Was a hit.
Sounds delicious! Thanks for sharing what you did and giving the recipe a try!
One of the best recipies I have made yet. The only changes I made were mixing soups (cream of chicken and mushroom), adding creole seasoning, parsley and mozzarella cheese to the sauce in addition to the cheese the recipe calls for on top.
Yum! Sounds delicious. I’m so glad you enjoyed the recipe!
I mixed everything except the noodles, chicken first. After that is all blended together I added the noodles and chicken. I also added 8 ounces of fresh sliced mushrooms. Other than that I followed the recipe and it turned out very good.
Thanks for sharing what you did. I’m sure the mushrooms were a delicious addition! Glad you enjoyed the recipe.
Wow! This is good! Whole family loved it.
I don’t have cream of chicken so I subbed cream of mushroom and it was wonderful. The cheese turns a nice light brown and slightly crispy on the edges. Super good!
Cream of mushroom totally works too. I’m so glad the recipe was a hit! Thanks for giving it a try.
GREAT STUFF
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed the dish!
For an interesting twist…. I subbed diced imitation crab for the chicken and added a cup of baby peas. Super yum yum!
Oh that is a fun twist! I’m so glad you enjoyed the dish. Thanks for sharing what you did!
Small or large cans of cream of chicken? I’m assuming small but wanted to be sure.
Yes, the small ones. The 10.5 oz cans.
My go to chicken recipe when I don’t know what to cook.
This is a favorite of the family…..And we always have enough
to share!!!
I’ve made this many times, and we always enjoy it!
I use cream of mushroom soup instead and add pimientos and grill my chicken but we absolutely love this dish
Easy to make and the whole family loved it!
Me and my husband absolutely loved this recipe Thank you
We make this recipe regularly at our house. My kids love it! After making it many times I realized that the 1/2 cup of butter can totally be left out. In fact I prefer it left out. There’s plenty of other fats 🙂 I use rotisserie chicken and also add some garlic and onion powder to the sauce. I love easy family meals like this. Thank you!
You’re welcome! I’m so glad to hear this one is a family favorite. Thanks for sharing what you do!
My husband and I loved this recipe. Made it with Butterball carved chicken breast in a package and halfed the recipe for 2 people. So good and served with Italian green beans. Am sharing this with friends!!!
Where are the onions, garlic, and MUSHROOMS? This is spaghetti with chicken soup and cheese. Blecch.
You can definitely add any or all of those ingredients in to your liking. 🙂
can I use shrimp
I suppose you could! I have never tried it with shrimp before.
Can you cut this in half?
Absolutely!
Absolute go to recipe for my family. They love it and so easy to make. I bought a lasagna pan, it fits perfectly in there!
Awesome! I’m so glad this recipe is a hit with your family!
My husband RAVES about this dish! Perfectly thought out! The only change I have to make is use cream of mushroom rather than cream of chicken because my local grocery store doesn’t carry gluten free cream of chicken. I use gluten free pasta too, of course because of a wheat intolerance (Celiac).
Thank you for sharing!
I love to hear that you have made this recipe gluten free! So glad that it is a hit with your family!
This is so easy and delicious. The first time I made the recipe everyone loved it. Now the recipe is on my “company food” list.
Oh I love that! So happy to hear that the recipe is a hit. Thanks for sharing!
Did you bake this covered or uncovered?
I bake it uncovered.:)
Yummy! A few changes I made: I addded about a cup of a cup and a half of frozen petite peas, I also mixed a handful of cheddar and mozzarella in with the noodles and pasta, and then also topped the casserole with cheese before baking. Lastly, I added about a teaspoon or so of garlic powder into the mixture and added some green onions on top when it came out. Wonderful!! Thanks
Sounds delicious! I love all of your additions! Thanks so much for sharing what you did. I’ll have to try it out!
Easy to make with ingredients on hand, just like most of the recipes on this site.
– Very flavourful thanks to the cheeses, broth, and soup. I also thoroughly seasoned the chicken.
– I undercooked the noodles slightly as recommended by others in the comments to avoid overcooking during baking. The texture ended up being just right!
– I used the pasta pot to combine the chicken and wet ingredients rather than the medium bowl suggested in the recipe. (The noodles were draining in a colander.) I didn’t dirty an additional item and a medium bowl would never have fit everything.
Points of concern
– The butter was softened to room temp but I found it hard to combine with the other ingredients. It presented as medium-sized chunks throughout. Is this correct? Can I do something to improve how the butter combines?
– I used a 9×13 dish and felt like it wasn’t big enough, even after trying to flatten everything down with a spatula. While I was cooking, the cheese and cream started bubbling over the edge of my dish. I quickly put another pan underneath. How deep of a 9×13 should I be using? Mine are all about 2 inches deep.
Overall it was a great meal that both my boyfriend and I enjoyed with a generous side of peas and peach dump cake à la mode for dessert!
Thanks so much for sharing what you did! I appreciate it! For the butter – I would try having it soften a little more. You want it at about the same consistency as the cream of chicken soup. Then it should blend with those creamy ingredients a lot better. It’s true – some 9 x 13 pans are deeper than others. Mine is a little deeper than 2 inches. You can still use your 9 x 13 pan and not fill it so much and then put any leftover in a smaller 8 x 8 pan and bake those at the same time. Hope this helps!
Thank you so much for the suggestions! I will definitely keep it in mind for the future because this recipe is going to happen again 🙂
You’re so welcome! Let me know how it turns out the next time you make it. 🙂
I’m making this now. Can’t wait. I’m going to melt the butter instead of just soften it. Hope it turns out as wonderful as I know it will.
Thank you!
You’re welcome! Hope you enjoyed the tetrazzini!
Easy recipe. My family loved it.
My whole family LOVED this meal…im making it for the second time but adding chopped onion and green pepper… also mixing cheese into.. instead of on top.
Sounds delicious! I’m so glad your family enjoyed the dish! Thanks for sharing.
So delicious!! Is the nutrition info for one serving? And if so what is considered one serving? Ty
I’d say a serving size is about 1.5 cups… give or take. Depending on how large of portion sizes you want.
My Hubby absolutely loves this!! This is my 3rd time making it!! Just made it for a last minute dinner with my bestie and her hubby. . It is the perfect go to comfort food for family and friends swinging by for dinner!!
Thank you! I’m so glad that this recipe is a hit for you family. Couldn’t agree with you more… comfort food at it’s finest. 😉
WAY too many add popping up in front of the recipe so can’t even see it.
The ads do enable us to be able to provide free recipes and content to our awesome readers. Thanks for understanding!
Could this be made with ground beef or vegan meat instead of chicken?
I haven’t tried it before, but I’m sure it could!! You’ll have to let us know how it turned out if you made the swap.
Easy to make, delicious after the bake, and will be eating again tomorrow!
Cut the recipe in half for 2 people.
Your recipe is the bell 🔔 in my steeple!
When you cut the recipe, did the cook time fluctuate at all that you noticed? Also have to cut the recipe!
You may need to cut the baking time down just a bit, but probably not quite half. You’ll want to make sure the ingredients are all melted and heated through, with a nice golden brown top.
So good and loved I can freeze one!
Mmm this is amazing! Our whole family loves this!!
Omg so delicious and easy. My most favorite 😋
Delicious and simple and made with ingredients that I always have on hand. A favorite weeknight meal for my family.
We use this recipe all of the time for a quick easy dinner! My kids and husband love it 😊
This is a family favorite. My question is.. can I make it and freeze it for later?
Absolutely!! Just make as instructed, cover tightly and freeze for up to 2 months. Just let thaw in the fridge overnight before baking in the oven.
So delicious! Reminds of my moms recipe growing up.
Love this quick and easy dinner that my kids gobble up!
Love this I have make it and my kids love it
I’m missing a can of cream of chicken what can I do or do I need it
Hi Amy! How did the recipe turn out? There are a bunch of homemade cream of chicken soup recipes out there you can google. If you are ever out of the cans, you can always whip that up real fast (usually consists of butter, flour, chicken stock, milk and seasonings). Sour cream can be substituted for it too but doesn’t have the chicken based flavor. And where this recipe already has sour cream in it, I’d recommend just making a homemade one!
I only had one can as well and replaced it with a can of cream of mushroom soup instead. It tastes just as good.
So yummy!!
Wonderful!
Have made this so many times… the best! My kids love it so much!
Mmmm!!! A new favorite recipe of ours. Even the littles loved it. Phew!!!
We make this at *least* monthly. Always have all indredients to hand!
This is always a favorite and a perfect meal for families. 💗
Our kids loved this recipe so much! So creamy and delicious! 😊
we all love this!
Loved the dish was so easy And tasty …. Had a question. The soup do you put 2 cans of water with the 2 cans of soup?
Yay!! So glad you enjoyed the recipe. Nope, just the condensed soup without adding water (like the can label calls for).
I’ve always loved Chicken Tetrazzini and this recipe is delicious. It’s such a a quick meal using canned chicken. The cheese is delicious but sometimes we just use American cheese because that’s what my mom used. It’s a great family dinner!
I’m so glad you love the recipe!! I’m all about using what you have and love. 🙂 Thanks for sharing!
Absolutely loved this and had to stop my husband from eating it all. So easy to make and definitely a keeper to make again. Served with broiled asparagus and bacon bits, green salad and garlic toast. I don’t usually like a recipe with canned soup but cream of chicken was fabulous!
Ooh that sounds delicious! Thanks for sharing what you did. I’m so glad you (and your hubby) enjoyed the recipe!
I made this and it is so good I did add. Green , orange , and yellow bell peppers with sautéed onions I also used cream of mushroom soup and cream of chicken soup. With a 1/4 cup of white wine with the chicken broth and Lemon pepper seasons. And a mix of whit and dark chicken with pepper jack and extra cheddar cheese the taste is so good. And it is so creamy .
Mmm sounds delicious. Thanks for sharing what you did! I’m so glad you enjoyed the recipe!
So I grabbed boneless skinless chicken thighs. Could that work instead of the chicken breasts? I know they are different but wondering if it would still work?
Absolutely!! You could use either.
My family loves this recipe! We’ve made it many times and I’ve found that the 1/2 cup of butter is not necessary in this recipe for anyone that wants to lighten it up a little. There’s plenty of fat and flavor with the other ingredients. This one’s a keeper and on our regular dinner rotation.
Thanks for the feedback! So glad to hear that the recipe is a hit with your family. Thanks for giving it a try!
I followed the recipe to the letter and it turned out perfectly… This was a big hit at my house, my family loved it… I have tried several different recipes and this is by far the best… I will definitely make this recipe again… Thanks:)
You’re welcome!! I’m so happy to hear the recipe was a hit. Thanks for sharing!
Dad at home by himself, looking to cook up something for the kids. I had some box Tetrazzini I was going to cook up, but decided to try something homemade. This was easy to whip together and we had all the ingredients on hand.
Taste great, and the toasted cheese on top looks amazing.
Way to make something new!! So glad that you enjoyed the recipe. Thanks for giving it a try!
I have a question… can this be made ahead of time and stored in fridge and cooked next evening?
Absolutely!! Just make it as instructed and before adding cheese before baking, cover tightly with foil or saran wrap and place in fridge for up to 24 hours before. You can also freeze this recipe. Just make as instructed, cover tightly and freeze for up to 2 months. Just let thaw in the fridge overnight before baking in the oven.
I made this last night and it was FABULOUS ! Easy recipe to follow and the meal was super tasty! Will definitely be making it again!
Yay!! That makes me so happy to hear. Glad you loved the recipe!
Easy, made as written, then I found some mushroom to saute and add. Yield was six 7 inch foil carryout containers (20 oz in each). Plenty for the freezer and a couple to share. Delicious This is a keeper, Thanks so much
Yay!! So glad you enjoyed the recipe. I bet the addition of the mushrooms was delicious. Thanks for sharing what you did.
this dish is DELICIOUS! EVERYONE loves this Chicken Tetrazinni. This will be my sixth time making this. Only difference in my dish is, i add fresh mozzarella on top and within. thank you for the recipe. i just made some for tonight.
Oh thank you so much!! I bet the fresh mozzarella tastes great in it too. So so glad to hear that this recipe is a hit!
Have you experimented to find a way to make it healthier? Way too many calories, and it’s too high in sodium, potassium, and fat.
Perhaps a substitute for the cream soup would be a good place to start.
I’m sure there are ways you could make it healthier. A from scratch cream soup for sure, sour cream could be swapped for plain greek yogurt, fat free mozzarella cheese, etc. Not sure how that would alter the nutrition facts exactly, but would certainly lighten it up.
Delicious! used a little less cheese & only 1 1/2 cups sour cream
So glad to hear you enjoyed the recipe!! Thanks for sharing!
I’m trying to get the recipe and a video popup keeps covering it
I hate going to a site and this happens. I’ll look on Pinterest and find another recipe.
Hi Elaine! Sorry to hear of your frustration. The videos and ads are a big reason that we are able to deliver free content and recipes to our wonderful readers. Hopefully you will consider giving a recipe a try still! The Chicken Tetrazzini is a great one. 🙂
Love this site. The Chicken Tettrazini was so good and easy to make
Aw, thank you!! So glad to hear you enjoyed the recipe!
This is one of my family favorite recipe easy to cook, I love 💕 the Prep time with juggling two jobs always on the go! I love this recipe because it’s very inexpensive and very nutritious excellent choice for anytime dinner. Carrie Aldridge UAPB Extension Human Sciences Educator/Snap-Ed/ Program Aid. So glad to hear you enjoy the recipe!!
This recipe was really easy to make. I added mushrooms and peas to it. Omg it is delicious and will definitely make again!! Thank you!
You’re welcome! The additions sound like a delicious touch to the recipe. Glad you enjoyed the dish!
Enjoying your recipes, I’ll keep watching for you.
Thank you!!
So easy so delicious!! I did not have 2 cans of cream of chicken, I only had one, so I used a can of cream of mushroom…and I only cooked it for 30 min….it was the best!!!
Yay! I bet the combo of the cream of chicken and cream of mushroom was tasty! So glad to hear you enjoyed the recipe.
I make this more than I should! It is so easy and so damn delicious! Try it if you love pasta!
Thank you!! I’m so happy to hear you love the recipe!
About how many pounds of chicken works best, I only have 3 breasts but they are a nice size, so I’m thinking they will be enough
I have done it with that amount. it’s fine I just cut the chicken a little smaller pEaCe
Oh that should work just fine! I’d say about 2 lbs, so 3 good size chicken breast should be fine for the Tetrazzini.
Made this for dinner today. Was delicious. My husband liked it. He had seconds.
Yay! So glad to hear you and your husband enjoyed the dish. Thanks for sharing!
How many ounces per can of cream of chicken should I use? The recipe only says 2 cans but I know there are two different sizes. So looking forward to making this!
Just the standard 14.5 oz size is what the recipe calls for. Hope you enjoy the dish!!
I was going to make this for my mom but she doesn’t like sour cream is there anything I can use to substitute for it
You could use plain yogurt instead. 🙂
I am wondering if you can substitute cream cheese for butter. It looks delicious and I plan on making it. If you could get back to me today, I really appreciate it. I am thinking of possibly making it today..
Thank you, Margaret Sommerman
Hi Margaret! Looks like you may have already tried this dish. I haven’t tried substituting cream cheese, but I suppose it would still work. I’m curious to hear if you did try it and how it turned out!
Wasn’t you suppose to cover with foil before baking?
Nope, it’s not necessary for this recipe, especially since all of the ingredients are already pre-cooked. 🙂
Made this several times. A new family favorite
Yay! So happy to hear that!
I have made this a few times now and we LOVE it.
I was wondering if there might be something else I could use in place of the
cream of chicken soup?
I’m so glad you love it so much! You can use any other cream based soup such as cream of mushroom, cream of celery, etc. If you don’t want to use those condensed soups you can always substitute sour cream for the cream of chicken soup. It won’t have as much of the chicken flavor but it will give the recipe the creaminess it needs. Hope this helps!
Not easy if you don’t have cooked chicken and noodles on hand. BUT still easy and prep time under 30 minutes. Tastes wonderful!!
Thanks for your feedback! Glad to hear you enjoyed the recipe.
Thanks for Such an amazing and informative article….
You’re welcome!
I made this yesterday and it was superb!! I followed the directions exactly except I added the cheeses to the mix keeping 1cup of the mozzarella cheese for the top. 55 minutes including prep time? No way. Frying the chicken breasts the way I do it (salt and peppered, floured, browned both sides in some shortening, then covered and simmered) took at least 45 minutes. Let the chicken cool enough to cut it up in nice small bite size pieces. Give yourself at least an hour prep time, then almost an hour in the oven. 55 minutes prep and oven time became a good 2 hours. It was so worth it. You will love it.
Sounds like a tasty way to cook the chicken! Thanks for sharing. I’m so happy that you liked the recipe!
Might want to add a splash or two of Worcheshire sauce …the recipes back in the 70s seem to have a bit added for flavor. When growing up, mom always added chopped onions and celery and usually a handful of peas. She probably did that because I never ate many vegetables. Lol
Yes, you can certainly add in whatever seasonings/flavorings you prefer. Your mom was a smart lady to sneak in those veggies somehow! 😉
Can you shredded the chicken instead of cubes
I added sautéed sliced mushrooms, onions and a couple handfuls of fresh spinach to the melted butter. Follow the directions after that My husband said it’s the best tetrazzini he’s ever had
Ooh those additions sound delicious! So glad you and your husband enjoyed! It’s always a win to find a recipe the hubby loves too! 😉
It does take longer all together than just 55 mins. Your chicken has to cook which can be 30 minutes. I would say Cook your chicken before hand and freeze it or something so it is faster.
Yes, if starting with cooked chicken, it takes about 55 minutes. If starting with raw chicken, you will want to allow extra time to cook the chicken.
My family love’s this meal, but I was wondering if I could freeze it with out baking it. I am trying to get a idea for a meal on vacation.
We make this tetrazzini recipe ahead of time, all the time. Just make it as instructed and before adding cheese and before baking, cover tightly with foil or saran wrap and place in fridge for up to 24 hours before baking or you can freeze it for up to 2 months. Just let thaw in the fridge overnight before baking in the oven. Hope this helps!
Tried this last and it was great but have a lot leftover…can i freeze it?
Yes! You definitely can! Cover tightly and freeze. And then let it defrost in the fridge the night before you are going to bake/reheat it again.
Is says in the comments can freeze. You can also FREEZE this recipe. Just make as instructed, cover tightly and freeze for up to 2 months. Just let thaw in the fridge overnight before baking in the oven.
Yes, there’s lots of options when it comes to freezing the recipe. It’s a great make ahead recipe.
I always wanted to make this dish but the recipe was too much.this one is simple enough to quickly make and good enoughTo share. Thank you 😊
I’m so happy you liked it! In my book simple recipes are the best!:)
What if you don’t have cream of chicken
Sour cream will work as a substitution for cream of chicken. It won’t have a chicken-forward flavor, but one cup of sour cream creates the same texture and body as a can of cream of chicken soup. Hope this helps!
Very good. We added broccoli , garlic salt and a cracker crumb topping.
Those sound like delicious additions! Thanks so much for trying it! 🙂
Quick, easy and good. It’s just as good the second day. Will definitely make again.
So glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for sharing! 🙂
I’ve made this for family and friend’s and they have loved it! Thanks so much for this recipe!.!!.❤
So glad you liked it! Definitely one of our family fav’s too!
I have read all the comments of this wonderful delicious dish but not one person has asked the following question! Do you bake it covered or uncovered? Please, somebody answer quickly as I am preparing it for company tomorrow (Sunday Feb. 28, 2021). Many thanks. Linda from Oregon
You can bake it uncovered in the oven. I’m sorry I wasn’t able to see this before your Sunday dinner. I hope all went well and that everyone enjoyed it!
It’s in the oven. I made it one time before. Put peas in it. This time peas and corn. Loved it last time. And was amazing left overs. Thank you for this recipe
You are so welcome! Peas are a great addition! Thank you for sharing that!
Delicious comfort food!
Delicious
My family loves this recipe! It is delicious! I add a can of mushrooms to this recipe!
Perfect!! Thank you for sharing that!
Loved this recipe! First time making it and it was so easy and delicious!
Yay! Glad to hear that! Thank you!
Awesome recipe! A hit with the whole family, even the grandchildren! Already planning to make it again. The plus is that it’s so easy to make.
Love that!! I am so glad they liked it! Thank you!
What a simple and tasty recipe to serve on a cold snowy day! Like everyone, I tweaked it a bit to our taste (added mushrooms, onions, & garic) but still so easy to throw together, Canned chunk chicken makes it even quicker. Thank you for what is bound to be a regular part of our meal planning.
Sounds perfect!! Thank you for sharing what you did!
Super creamy, cheesy deliciousness!
I had some leftovers and they were gone the next day. Definitely a hit!
Glad it was a hit! Thanks for trying it!
Wonderful Recipe. I followed it to a “T” except…I mixed parmesan cheese with Italian seasoned bread crumbs with more parmesan cheese as an extra topping. I baked it until top was really crispy. It was DIVINE! MY HUSBAND THANKS YOU! Great recipe. I do think the seasoned breadcrumbs and more parmesan added a little extra to the texture and taste to the whole final presentation and taste.
Sounds perfect!! Thank you so much for letting me know!
My mother used to make this, and she always added sliced black olives, so I will too. I’m watching carbs, so I’ll use Liviva shirataki noodles instead of regular pasta. And I will definitely add some garlic, mushrooms, a little bit of heavy cream, and a dash of white wine.
Can this recipe be cooked using a crockpot?
I haven’t tried with this specific recipe, but I am sure it would work well in the crock pot.
So I’ve made this a few times and it’s always been awesome. I always add bacon but I’ve always added water to the cans of cream of chicken. I’m making this again tonight, do I not add water? I’m always so confused when recipes call for cream of chicken on whether I add water or not.
No, you don’t need to add water. If you did, it would most likely be an ingredient in the recipe. The broth adds liquid in this specific recipe.
My family loved this dish. Thanks so much for all the wonderful recipes!
My husband and I really loved this recipe. Will definitely make it again.
Happy to hear that!! Thank you for letting me know!
I have made this recipe several times depending on what type of meat I have leftover is what I add, pork, ham, chicken. The only other change I make is I add 1 each cheddar cheese soup and cream of chicken or cream of mushroom, this recipe is our favorite….
I’m so glad it’s a favorite! It definitely is a staple dish at our house! I bet the added cheddar cheese soup makes it even more cheesy and creamy!
My family loves this recipe. The only thing I do differently is to add a handful of chopped green onions. It’s really delicious.
That’s a great option! Glad you like it! Thank you!
My family loves this! It is delicious and easy to make.
Glad to hear that! Thank you!
I made this for dinner tonight and it was really good. I did use a 3 qt casserole dish and split the recipe in half. I served it with a salad and have enough left for another night and lunch tomorrow. Thanks for posting.
You are welcome! That sounds perfect!! Thank you!
Easy to make, super delicious!!!
Thank you for trying it 🙂
So creamy and cheesy! We halfed the recipe for our small family, but kept the amount of cheese the same. Quick to make, family friendly. I would recommend adding some frozen peas or broccoli, or serving with a side of asparagus. Will definitely be making this again!
Great options! Thank you for letting me know! Happy you liked it!
This turned out great. I cooked the chicken with Montreal chicken seasoning in butter and olive oil. After removing the chicken, I sautéed a package of sliced mushrooms in the drippings and added that to the recipe. I also added a package of frozen peas. Whole family loved it.
Sounds good! Thank you for sharing what you did!
This is one of my favorite go to recipes! We have it all the time. I split the recipe into two tin containers and one goes in the freezer. Then when my neighbors or friends are in need of meals, I give them the freezer meal. I’ve received so many compliments on this meal!
So yummy! A family favorite!
A dish the whole family loves! I usually split it into two smaller pans, since we have little eaters, and serve with a veggie on the side!
This is one of my favorite recipes! The whole family enjoys this meal, even my picky eater.
Delicious. I was scared to try this because turkey tetrazzini (or the terrible yet) was the worst meal in college and scarred me. This recipe is now in my dinner rotation!
I love this dish! Such a great tasting meal. I made 2 of them and froze one. It was so nice to have a wonderful dinner to eat a month later.
Done
One of the best recipes I’ve ever tried. This is now a staple in our home!
Mom to 4 picky kiddos…. but they all love this one. Try it, you won’t be disappointed!
Yay!! I am so glad! Thank you for letting me know!!
I feel like it’s unfair for me to rate a recipe containing something I don’t eat. I’m a vegetarian. My sun said “5 stars”
Love it!! Always looking for an easy comforting and quick dish!
This was a winner with everyone! It’s not often that I find a recipe that pleases everyone so this’ll definitely be in our monthly rotation.
They can be hard to find! Glad you all like this! Thank you!!
Kids liked!
The ultimate comfort food. So filling & delicious.
This recipe is delicious, easy to make, family friendly & can be made in advance. It’s one of our go tos!
Delish!!!! A family favorite for sure!!
As a mama of 4, casseroles are my bread and butter when making dinner. Lol. So easy to throw it all in one dish and bake. Delicious – even for my picky eater!! Thanks for the great recipe
This looks amazing. Can’t wait to try it for my family.
We love this recipe! Fast and easy, thats why we love your site!
So creamy & delicious!
This recipe was easy to make and delicious! Even my pickiest of eaters liked the chicken sghetti! 😁
Amazing! My kiddos and husband ate every bite on their plates and even asked for more! Definitely adding this one into our meal rotation.
This is so good. A family favorite!
This is one of our family’s most favorite meals of all time! So comforting and delicious! My kids beg for it!
I try to make it it didn’t come out that great I’m sure yours is awesome but I gave it a try I like it though
I am glad you tried it! I’m sure yours was great! Thank you!
So yummy!
Love this recipe! It’s my go-to for delivering meals to a new mom or someone who needs a little help. It’s an easy to follow recipe and always turns out so delicious. Toddler friendly too! 🙂
So good!
This is one of my kids favorite recipes! It’s super filling and makes a ton. Great for days when we have lots of kids and friends over, or for weeks when we need leftovers. It’s super easy to make and the ingredients are easy to find and prep. Winner for sure!
Wow, where has this recipe been all my life?! It will be going on the rotation for sure as it was a big hit. This is clearly one of those classics you can’t mess up; I didn’t have everything as stated, only had gluten-free spaghetti, used Greek yogurt in place of sour cream, and added my own seasonings (ground rosemary and thyme). Everyone went back for seconds, and my hubby claimed the leftovers for tomorrow’s lunch. Thank you!
Woohoo!! I love to hear that! Great substitutions! Thank you for sharing that!
Easy and delicious, big hit with my family!
I love to hear that!! Thank you for giving it a try & for letting me know 🙂
I make this A LOT!!! It’s one of my go to’s when I’m lost and can’t think of anything for dinner. I cheat I use a HUGE bowl that we use for Halloween candy and put gloves on and mix it that way then throw in a pan. 🤪 Who ever came up with this god bless you! 🥰
LOL!! That’s what I love to hear! Thank you so much!
I love this recipe, but I’m always boggled by the amount of food it makes. I filled two 9×13 pans the first time I made it. Since then I started using one huge 11x15ish pan. Am I doing something wrong? Whole 16 oz box of linguine?
Hmm..I fit mine all in one pan. It’s filled to the top, but it fits. Yes, I use the whole box.
If I wanted to make this in a crock pot, how long/what temperature would you suggest?
I would do low for 3-4 hours 🙂
fantastic!! I didn’t have parmesan so used cheddar and mozzarella. Would be wonderful for leftover turkey and might even work with a small can of canned beef in a pinch.
Perfect & yes, it would be great! Thank you!
So delicious! One of my favorite recipes!
Ours too! Thank you for trying it & letting me know!
Even my oldest, picky son loves this. He doesn’t like anything I put cream of mushroom or chicken soup in.
We have hearty apperites and this makes a lot and fills ya up.
Thanks for sharing.
Glad to share 🙂 Thank you for saying that! That makes me so happy!
So yummy! Can’t wait to make again.
If you halve the recipe will cooking time go down?
Glad you like it! It may not take as long, but I am not sure exactly the time. I’ve never halved it.
Since all the ingredients are precooked, I’d think you could knock 10-15 minutes off at least.
made it and family wanted more : )
Yay!! Makes me happy to hear! Thank you!
It doesn’t say whether to bake covered or uncovered. I don’t want the cheese on top to get too brown. Any feedback? I’m going to try to cover all but last 19 minutes to brown.
I do not cover, but you can, if you are worried about it getting too brown.
This was so so good and a hit at my house. The reason I gave it a 4 star is because I adjusted the flavour as it was a little bland for me by adding seasonings to the soup mixture- I added garlic powder (about 2 tsp) and Italian seasoning (about 1 tbsp) and it was perfect. Will definitely be making again!
Thank you for trying it 🙂 Glad you will!
Thank you to the people that actually made this and posted a useful comment. Majority of people read reviews to see if dish is worth making or if they should make adjustments.
That being said the veggie idea was great, I also didn’t bake mine because I’m not a fan of casseroles.
Thanks for saying that! Veggies are a great option for sure!
Looks good, but way toomuch sodium. With all the sodium iN the soup, and the cheese, you ABSOLUTELY do not need to add another teaspoon of salt. You could also use low sodium broth, and Unsalted butter. This would cut way back on the sodium, while still being delicious. TOO MUCH sodium is one of the worst things you can do for your health. Cheers!
You can definitely do those things to lessen the sodium. Hope you try it 🙂
Definitely a family favorite! We will be adding this recipe to the rotation. It was delicious!
Glad to hear that!! Thank you!
Thank You for all of the great recipes!
You are so welcome! I am glad you like them! Thank you!
This was very very good! Thanks for sharing! I was gonna go by what you used, but i did not have all of the same things, so i had no choice but to use what I had. I used 1 can of cr of chicken and 1 of cr of celery (gave it a veggie too). I only had 8 oz of sour cream, so i used that. I only had vegetable broth, so i used it instead. Didn’t have mozzarella ch, so i used colby jack and monterrey. I used spaghetti noodles. Oh my, what a very tasty meal. First time making, a hit with a picky 16 year old. A side salad was perfect. He hates peas and mushrooms. Thanks darling!
I added English peas to it, but that is all i changed. my husband raved! It was very good. For me: It made more than a 9 x 13, and a large bowl was actually needed to mix everything.
Great addition! I am so glad he liked it! Thank you 🙂
5⭐️‘S no doubt! MY family loves tHis recipe. I add a Bag of frozen peas and carrots to it to get some veggies in. I partially cook them in the microwave First. My sister made one with veggies and one without for her husband’s birthday party and the one with the veggies went first. Go Figure!.
Yay!! Love to hear that! Adding veggies is a great addition! Thank you!
Any chance you could tell me the serving size for this recipe based on the nutritional chart that’s posted? I want to fit it into my macros and have it planned for dinner 🙂
This was so yummy! My whole family loved it and made several meals for us.
Yay!! So happy to hear that!! Thanks for trying it!
Made this toniGht and it was Delicious! Everyone in my family lOved it. I Used lemon pepPer chicken as indicated in one Of the Answers to a question. Will Be making this again for sure.

Yay!! I love to hear that! Thank you so much for sharing that & what you did!
Can you substItute the sour cream for something else? Im not a big Fan of sour cream.
I haven’t tried with anything else, but you can maybe try Greek yogurt?
Thank you Lil Luna,
Im a father of THree boys and this dish deliciouS and easy Enough for even me. You’Re The best!
Awe, thank you!! I hope you find some other good recipes to try!
Fantastic! My picky family gobbled it down. I split the amount into three smaller dishes, 1 For our family, 1 for my mother and 1 to put in the freezer for later. There was nothing left to put in the freezer. They actually took a fork and ate it right out of the dish!
Yay! I love to hear that! Thank you for trying it!
Very good. I took this to a fellowship supper at church and several people took second helpings.
Woohoo!! Glad everyone liked it! Thank you for sharing the recipe!
Great easy delicious chicken tetrA recipe. Easy too!
So happy you liked it!! Thank you so much for saying that!
Easy to put together, great to make ahead or for a quick dinner! Awesome flavor!
Thank you for saying that!! Happy you think so 🙂
This was so good! I did modify it a bit. I used one can cream of chicken and one can cream of mushroom. I also added some green and red peppers. I cooked the chicken, green and red peppers in garlic and butter. I also used Monterey and mozzarella cheeses and left out the parm. Even my super picky toddlers enjoyed this! This will definitely go on our regular menu.
Sounds good! Thank you for sharing what you did!
I LOVE this recipe!!!! I am making it again right now for my second time. The first time we had a lot of left overs but they didn’t last long at all! It was a hit with everyone in my household!! Yummmmmy
Glad it was a hit!! Thank you for trying this! It’s one of our favorites!
I made some minor adJustments: 1) added only 1 can of cream of chicken sOup; 2) added a couple of glugs of gooD quality dry white wine; 3) added garlic powder; 4) added frozen peas & carrots; 5) topped casserole w/dusting of panko bread crumbs, on top of the cheeses. Delish!!
Sounds yum!! Thank you for sharing what you did!

Awe, thank you so much for sharing that!! Love to know that it was a hit!!
Made this last night and we loved it! Halved the batch and added whole wheat pasta, mushrooms and frozen peas. Also, I used greek yogurt in place of sour cream and reduced it further by half (per suggestions in other comments). Tasted delicious and I look forward to making this again! Thanks for the recipe. 🙂
You are so welcome! Thank you for sharing what you did! Sounds great!
Good recipe but it takes 20-25 minutes to cook and chop everything. Add onions to taste.
I added sauteed fresh mushrooms and this was just about the best thing I’ve ever tasted, and my whole family agreed! Lots of calories even with light sour cream and low fat soup (i used one cr of chicken and one cr of mushroom), but it will definitely be my “go-TO” meal for company from now on.
Yay! I love to hear that! Yes, more calories than I want to count, but so good & easy!
Very good. My husband loved it. I added fresh spinach and cherry tomatoes! Color and taste!
Perfect additions!! Thank you for letting me know! I am glad he loved it!
Chicken tetrazzini…doesnt say how to prepare the chicken
Just prepare it however you like to cook your chicken. I like to either bake some of fry some up, when I buy it, so it’s ready for me. I will just season with salt & pepper & maybe some Italian seasoning or garlic pepper. Then it’s ready to shred or dice. Hope that helps 🙂
Definetly a keeper!
Yay!! Glad you think so!
This recipe is oh! So good! Be sure to ise a large mixing boWl.
Glad you liked it! Thank you so much for sharing that!
Found this recipe off of pinterest and seriously….one of the best tasting meals i’ve ever had! it’s a family favorite for sure! thnk you 🙂
Awe, thank you so much for giving it a try! It is one of our go-to’s! Glad you liked it!
has any one cut this recipe in half? Its just my husband and I, and well we like left overs I think there would still be to much. Would it still cook it for 40-45 minutes or do you think I should shorten the cooking time? Thanks!
I have not, but you definitely could. Since, the pan will be smaller, the baking time will take a little longer, but I am not positive about how much longer. Maybe check it at the 45 min, but then add 5 min at a time, until done.
This is such an easy and dELICIOUS recipe for the pickiest of eaters!! My 10 year old loves it!!!?
It really is! That’s why we love it, too! Thank you so much!
Easy but dedelicious
I agree!! That’s why I love it! Thank you!!
I’Ve been using your deliciouS for years! My family and friends love it! I’ve addeD two things – garlic and italian breaD crumbs for a topper. I’ve used ritz crackers when i don’t have bread crumbs. We love your reCipes! Keep them coming!
Awe, thank you so much!! I will definitely keep them coming. Thank you for sharing what you did! Sounds yum!
I noticed you have nutrition facts listed, and that this recipe makes 8 servings. can you tell me How much is a single serving size? Thanks!
It’s about 1 1/2 cups 🙂

Excellent! First time making. Family asked for thirds! I added mushrooms FOr the hubs.
Yay!! That makes me so happy to hear! Thank you so much!!
made this for dinner. added mushrooms. most important added the juice of one lemon to the sauce. made a huge difference.
Thanks for sharing!!
This is fantastic! My whole family loves it. Thanks for sharing this recipe. It’s so easy! my only change is I use fetuccini noodles instead of linguini. Love it, love it, love it.
Yay!! Love that! Thank you so much for saying that!! Nothing wrong with using other noodles!
What kind of vegetables can you add to this recipe?
Oh, you can add whatever you like…peas, carrots, corn, etc. Can’t go wrong 🙂

Uncovered 🙂 Hope you like it!
SO good. If you’re a lover of all things cheesy, hearty, & comfOrting. :):):):)
Thank you so much for sharing that!
i made this last night for the first time. it is as delicious as it looks. next time might halve the recipe since it made a lot. i’m hoping it will freeze well.
I am so glad you tried it! I am even happier that you liked it! Thank you!
This recipe was Similar to another from Pioneer Woman that i really like, but so Much better!
I cooked up my chicken in the instantpot and reserved the cooking liquid to use as my “broth”. I also cooked my noodles in the InstantPot, just making the recipe that much quicker.
I did make tWo changes. 1) rather than add butter to the sauce, i added butter (reduced to just 2 Tbs) right to the hot noodles and stirred until melted, then i Combined my sauce and mixed everything together. Then after topping with cheese i 2) added a sprinkling of garlic bread seasoning (parmesan cheese, salt and herbs) to the top for color, texture and flavor. It was so good!
Sounds perfect! Thank you for sharing what you did!
I really love this recipe. Do you think it would ddo ok in a slow cooker?
I haven’t tried with this specific recipe, but you sure could 🙂
can it be put in the freezer
It should be good 🙂
It was the star of the potluck!!
Woohoo!! So, glad to hear that! Thank you!
this recipe looks so amazing that i had to save it on my favorite ones!! Thanks for sharing this delicious!
Glad it made the favorites!! Thank you so much!
I’ve made this twice for my daughter who is a very picky rate eater. She loves this. I reduced calories by using zero fat Greek yogurt in place of sour cream and reduced fat mozzarella cheese, and low fat chicken soup. Tastes Great! Thank you for sharing.
Sounds yum! I am glad she likes it! Thank you so much for letting me know!
Thank you so much for this recipe!! I have always wanted to make this dish but it always looked like it was too time consuming. But it was such an Easy dish and my family loved it!! ?
Thank you for giving it a try! It really is super easy 🙂 Glad you loved it!
If i prepped this last night and am baking from the fridGe do i add baking time?
You may need to add a few minutes, but I would set it at the regular time, then add time from there 🙂
Sounds good. Cant wait to try it.
Thank you, it is!! Hope you like it!
This is awesome I make it at least once a month delicious!
So, do we!! Glad you liked it! Thank you so much!
What size cans are the cream of chicken the family size or regular size?
Just the regular size 🙂
This was delicious. My husband loved it, said it was one of his favorites. I baked my chicken with olive oil, garlic salt, and pepper. Added a little garlic powder to the mixture and steamed BROCCOLI As a side. Thanks for sharing!
You are so welcome!! Thank you for sharing what you did 🙂 I am glad you all liked it!
GREAT
Glad you think so!! Thank you!
great tetrazzini recipe! I love that it’s so quick to put together!
my daughter in law made this for Christmas dinner, it was awesome.
Happy she did & that you liked it! Thank you for letting me know!
Best white sauce chicken pasta out there!
I am so glad you think so!! Thank you so much!
I did 1.5 lBS of chicken (8 servings). Added 2 cans of green beans, .5 Tspn oregano, .5 Tspn basil, 1 tspn of garlic powder, and 1 tbsp of minced garlic and it was amazing!!
Sounds great!! Glad you liked it & thank you for sharing!
My family loves this RECIPE and I love the fact that it is sooo simple!
Just made this for my family’s Christmas gathering. Everyone loved it! (My family doesN’t often willingly try new things…)I was asked for the recipe. I will be making it again for sure. Would also be great to take to a friend or family as a meal gift. I Highly recommend this one!!!
Awe, I am so glad! Thank you for giving it a try & for letting me know!
this is my first TIME TO hear about tetrazinni recipe. is this like basically a pasta in milk but baked?
how is it different from using white bechamel sauce? just add a bit of milk or water…
can i use olive spread instead of pure butter? i tend to do this in my baking cakes…not so great but good enough….
A bechamel sauce is made by whisking milk with flour, but this sauce doesn’t have either. It’s a basic white sauce. I have not tried using olive spread, so I can’t tell you for sure how it will turn out.
This is so yummy!! Making it AGAin tonight for my parents.
I am glad you like it! Thank you for sharing it!
Any suggestions on noodles to use since i dOnt have these 🙁
I like to use linguine, but really it could be any pasta, even spaghetti noodles or fettuccine noodles. Hope that helps!
my husband and i Loved this recipe. i cut the recipe in half since it’s just the two of us and i followed it exactly other than adding a drained 6.5 oz. can of mushrooms and sprinkling a handful of breadcrumbs on the top. i did cut about 3 minutes off the cooking time of my linguine like others suggested. It was fantastic, and we have just enough leftover for tomorrow night. Thanks.
Sounds perfect! Thank you for letting me know 🙂
This is soo good?I am making this for christmas wondering if i can make the day before and then bake?
You sure could 😉 Enjoy!!
Loved this. Was going to try it in A oblong crockpot, how long would you suggest in crockpot?
I haven’t tried, but maybe low for a few hours?
never making this before whats the best way to cook chicken breast?
I like to cook in a skillet with a little salt, pepper, & olive oil until internal temp is 165 degrees Fahrenheit (if you have a meat thermometer). You can also cook in the crock pot on low for about 3 hours. You can add whatever seasonings you like. Hope that helps 🙂
Made this last night only thing I added was flattened buttermilk biscuits on top to add a crust to it came out WONDERFULLY..My family deemed Mondays as TETRAZZINI day
Sounds great! Thank you for sharing that. I am so glad it was a hit!
Has anyone tried breaking up the pasta before cooking? That is what my old recipe calls for and I think it would make it easier to eat. Going to try this next time my daughters visit.
No, but that would be just fine 😉 Hope you all like it!
I ADDED 1 handful of ITALIAN seasoning as well. Also since I didn’t have mozzarella, I substituted Colby jack. It turned out fantastic!! Sorry to modify the recipe but it worked out wonderful. Will still try the original and am sure it will be great as well.
I am so glad you did!! That’s what’s great about cooking! Thank you for sharing what you did 🙂
This was so good.
I am glad you liked it! Thank you for trying it & letting me know 🙂
So delicious! Creamy noodles and great flavor! You can’t go wrong with this recipe!
Thank you for saying that! I am so happy that you like it!
We tried this after it was featured on our work blog. Since we have a good amount of leftover turkey, we used that. It had rave reviews from our pickiest eater. Hubby and I have been thinking of how we can add different meat and veggies.
Thanks for an awesome recipe!
You are so welcome!! I am so glad you liked it!! It would be great with any meat, really!
This recipe is incredible! It’s my go to recipe for 101 things to do with leftover turkey!!!
Yay!! I love to hear that! Thank you so much!
I made this for supper tonight. Very tasty. Great comfort food. Thanks!
Fyi: for even more flavor, use cream of chicken with herbs soup, and grate fresh parmesan or ASIAgo cheese on hot pasta (the part underneath the top layer of cheese)
Sounds great!! Thank you for sharing that!!
What are the nutritional facts. Serving size. CALORIES…Etc
great recipe!
I Was wondering how long to cook the chicken for and on what temperature? Because i dont want the chicken to turn out dry. I Saw online set to 400 and bake for 22-26Min.
Made THIS TONIGHt. Was pretty Good. Didnt seem creamy enough though. BEfore i cooked the chicken i tossed it in 2tbs olive oil, 1tsp Italian seasoning, 1/2 tsp seasoning salt, 1/4 tsp paprika and 1/4 tsp black pepper. And got it good and covered. Then i baked it UNCOVEREd on 400 degrees for 22-26min. And I added in SOme sauted onions to the whole mixture Noodles and All. And after added it to the dish I added 4TBS of grated parm to it instead of 2. And added the mozz and then sprinkled with BREADCRUMbs on the top before baking.
Sounds great! I am glad you liked it! Thank you for sharing that!
That is about right. Internal temp to about 165 degrees F. Hope that helps!
made two pans of this on my birthday back in July. I took it to work. I left that day with to empty pans. and now I’m making it for dinner TONIGHT. It’s actually in the oven right now. I added broccoli this time.
Love that!! Thank you for sharing that! Adding broccoli would be great!!
was AMazing! Followed exactly how the recipe stated, yumm!
Yay!! Thank you for giving it a try!! I am glad you liked it!

Oh, man..so many!! Any vegetable, bread, salad, zucchini..Hope those help 🙂 Whatever you like, would work.
Made this for dinner and Everyone loved it. Super simple and quick!!
Yay!! I am glad to hear!! That’s why I make it a lot!! Thank you!
Do you cook the chicken tetrazzini covered or Uncovered?
Uncovered 🙂 Hope you like it!!
Great recipe!!!! Easy, quick, and tastes Great. Love love loVe it
Thank you so much!! I am glad you think so!!
i can’t help but chuckle whenever i see this dish b/c I always think back to that old episode of the maury show :P. i think this recipe is good enough to seduce a man xd!
LOL!!! I am glad you think so 🙂
Such a great recipe! To me, its better he day after! I skipped the parmesean and oNly bake it for about 30 minutes and it’s still just… SO amazing!
Yay!! Love hearing that! Thank you so much!
This looks amazing! Is there something i can use as a substitute for chicken broth?
You could just do water, but that wouldn’t be very flavorful. I would google & see what options come up that you can have.
I thought this was a great base. Like many others, I felt veggies were a must! I thin-sliced a red, orange and yellow bell pepper and softened them near the end of the chicken cooking phase. replaced the sour cream with non-fat plain greek yogurt, added frozen peas and mushrooms. topped it with half the amount of cheese and used low-fat Mozzarella. the entire family is in love. thank you for providing the basis!
Sounds delicious!! I am glad to share 🙂 Thank you so much for sharing that!
This recipe was easy to make and came out delicious. I seasoned the chicken with salt, pepper, and oregano and baked in the oven for 20 minutes, then diced and added to spaghetti and sauce. my family loved it!
Sounds perfect!! Thank you for sharing that!
This was a big hit with my family, love the recipies on this site
Oh, thank you so much!! I appreciate that! Thank you for stopping by!
I’m disappointed with the fact that I used, I think, too small of a pan or I put too much cheese on it. Wait a minute… There’s no such thing as too much cheese. love it love it love it love it love it love it love it
You are so right!! Thank you for giving it a try 🙂
I’ve made this 3 or 4 times. Its sooooo Good! Sometimes i add frozen green peas that have been thawed out. Yum!!
Great addition!! I am so glad you like it! Thank you so much!
Creamy
This is in the oven as I type this… I CAN’T wait for dinner tonight….yummy!!! I used rotisserie chicken in THIS dish. even though this is an American dish I added garlic, parsley, italian seasoning to IT as Well. I guess its almost more like alfredo. Thank you for sharing kristyn! I was BRowsing pinterest for a recipe with rotisserie chicken And mozzerealla cheese and WAllah here we go!!
Another great go to recipe that everybody likes. Who doesn’t like pasta, chicken and creaminess all in one? It’s great for feeding a crowd too!
This says it is printable. But there is not a printer icon to do so. SO… I clicked CTRL C and before I could stop it, it printed 75 pages.
This was really good and I was even more pleased when my 2 year old ate it and loved it!!
Yes, it’s great for picky eaters! I am glad he approved 🙂 Thank you!
This was a hit with my kids. We have some type of pasts dish at least once a week and I’m going to add this into the rotation. Thanks for sharing!
This yummy recipe is on our 6 week dinner rotation. The kids never complain and always eat it right up! Any Mom understands that making the kiddos happy is half the battle. Thanks for making my Mommy-ing easier!
I just put a glass dish of it in the oven. I added bag of cooked broccoli, minced onion, 1/4 tsp. of nutmeg and 1/2 tsp. of minced garlic. It looked and smelled delish!!
This truly was the perfect recipe! Very easy to make and quite filling. The flavor is rich and makes it seem like you were cooking all day. I used a packet of rotisserie chicken from Costco, as I was cooking for a building crew who were hungry “NOW”. My husband came back into the kitchen when done, asking me store some leftovers for his lunch.
I love when they say they want leftovers! This really is a crowd pleaser for all. I am so glad they liked it! Thank you!
I love you and all your wonderful recipes. Thank you so much
Awe, that’s so nice 🙂 Thank you so much!! I am glad you do!
THE BEST DISH EVER! YUMM!!!
I couldn’t agree more!!! Thank you for the 5 stars!!
This is a great dish for runners that have to carbo load the night before a meet it is delicious and it all is gone when we take it to a potluck
Lol..it’s definitely a carb load 🙂 I am glad you like it!! Thank you for letting me know!
I’ve made this a few times—so yummy! And there is always a lot left over, so that’s a bonus. I’ll be making it in a few days.. wondering if you would recommend trying it in a slow cooker? Or would it turn out too runny? Of course my chicken would already be cooked and shredded; and I probably wouldn’t add the pasta till towards the end.
I am sure that would work fine. I personally haven’t with this specific recipe, but I don’t see why not 🙂
This is so good!! Every time I make a big pot of something good.. like this, my grown kids just happen to show up!! LOL this is a winner for sure. Had to laugh about your pickle remark… I have an obsession with them also. Ever time we do a big gro .shop… I have at least 3 jars of dill pickles. Hubby says” I know your not, expecting!
LOL!! We love this recipe, too! Thank you so much!
Can the Easy Chicken Tettrazzini recipe be doubled by just doubling everything or what? I’ve got a potluck at church on the 23rd of this month and it’s a “spaghetti” theme. I thought this recipe would be a great alternative to take. My friend made this and raved about it.
Yes..just double all the ingredients & maybe add to an 11×17 pan 🙂 I am glad you friend raved about it!! It will be a hit!
THANK YOU
YUM!!! I made this and divided in two pans! One for me, and one for my freezer! It froze great!
Great idea!! I am glad it did! Thank you for letting us know 🙂
My family loved this!! It was so cheesy & had great flavor! My kids asked me to make it again! I love when I find a recipe that we all enjoy!
Hello… I have made your recipe before and it was a hit. My question is can I put it together one day and bake the next?
Yes 🙂
What’s the serving size + carbs per serving??
This recipe looks delicious. I’m going to make it next week. I’ve been subbing pasta with veggie noodles, eg Butternut squash, zucchini and sweet potato noodles. I will let you know how it goes.
Perfect!! Healthier options 😉 Thank you & hope you like it!
THANK YOU SO MUCH, I WILL BE LOOKING FORWARD TO SEEING MORE RECIPIES. THE IDEAS ARE GREAT, ALSO.THANKS AGAIN. NEW ADMIRER, EVELYN.
Thanks so much for stopping by!! Excited for you to try some!
Gonna make this tomorrow! Looks so easy and good!!!
Enjoy!! Hope you like it!
If you are in a hurry you can use Tyson white meat chicken in a can for the chicken and the broth. It’s good I use it for several recipes.
Yes! Those are great for when you are short on time. Thanks!
Chicken and cheese how can you go wrong. YUMMY!!
You can’t 🙂 Thank you so much!!
Looking forward to getting new recipes
I look forward to you trying some 🙂
I can’t wait until i make this lovely dish for my family and friends
I can’t wait for you to try it 🙂 I hope everyone loves it!
2 TB of Parmesan cheese. I just must still be asleep but what’s a TB, table spoon? It just doesn’t seem to be enough.
Yes, tablespoon 🙂 It’s the perfect amount, since most is mozzarella.
What size cream of chicken cans? Looks really delicious!
They are like 10 1/2 ounces 🙂 Hope that helps! Enjoy!
In pounds, how much chicken did you use?
It’s maybe close to a pound 🙂 Enjoy!!
I posted this on Facebook a few days ago, a cousin saw it and made it tonight for her family. Big hit!! She said it’s definitely going into the rotation, lol. Now, I have to try it soon.
Yay!! Thank you for letting me know! Thanks for sharing!
This was a huge hit at my house. It was so simple it literally took a few minutes to put together. I will be making it again and recommend all to try. (I think next time I will add a few veggies)
Yay!! I love to hear that!! Thank you so much for letting me know 🙂
I wonder how many cans of canned chicken equal 4 chicken breasts?? Have you ever used canned chicken for this??
I haven’t, but you totally could. I am not sure how many would equal 4 chicken breasts. Really, it could be as much or as little as you like. You could add a few cans & if you want more chicken, you could add more. No wrong amount 🙂 Hope you like it.
We made the recipe. It was delicious. It would help if you gave weight on the chicken instead of the quantity. There is a large variance in chicken breast size.
Thanks
I am glad you liked it 🙂 Really, the chicken amount can vary. If you like chicken, you can add more or you can always add less. My amounts vary also, I usually use a package with 4 chicken breasts in it.
What s the best way to cook the chicken?
I like to just add some oil to a pan & cook it that way, until browned & cooked through. Add some salt & pepper. You can in a crock pot. There are lots of ways 🙂
I did the crock pot with a lot of seasoning! It was a hit! I added a 3 pepper blend with monterrey and cheddar jack cheese. Thanks helping this non cook.
I am glad it was a hit!! Thank you for letting me know 🙂
YUM!! Made this tonight for dinner and my family loved it! Perfect recipe followed it exactly as written. Thank you
That is what I like to hear! Thank you so much for letting me know 🙂
Delicious! I usually tweak recipes but this time I followed yours. I am amazed how good and easy this is. I might try it this Fall with leftover turkey. Thank you for a delicious dinner.
So glad to hear that!! No tweaking needed for this recipe 🙂 Thank you so much for letting me know!
Been looking for new recipes and also found crafts and more.
Thank you!
I made this last night and it was fantastic! A fool proof recipe, easy and delicious. I made 1 alteration, I added cut up asparagus. I’m so happy to have a new meal to add to my rotation.
That makes me so happy to hear 🙂 Thank you for sharing that!
That dish looks very attractive.I will do it for my dinner! thank for sharing with us!
Let me know what you think! Thank you so much 🙂 Enjoy!
My husband doesn’t care for chicken but I thought this looked so good! Here is what I did. I had 3 pork steaks which I trimmed, cut up in cubes and cooked in olive oil. Instead of the Cream of Chicken, I used 1 can of Cream of Celery and 1 can of Cream of Mushroom. Instead of the chicken broth, I used beef broth. The rest of the ingredients were the same. I did have some fresh grate Parmesan cheese.
My husband absolutely loved this and this is a lot for two people. LOL! We have leftovers and we have enough to freeze half for another week or so. Loved it!
That sounds great! Thank you for sharing that 🙂 Will have to try!
Hello Kristen!
I made this recipe tonight and followed you directions! It was amazing! My four grandchildren gobbled it up! I accompanied it with roasted sweet potatoes and Brussel sprouts! They had a fit over it! Thank you so much for sharing it with all of us!
You are so welcome!! Thank you for sharing it with them. I am glad they all liked it!
Made this using a little sauted onion & bell pepper – some garlic powder. Also added some slivered almonds to give it a little crunch.
Great ideas!! Thanks for sharing that! I am glad you liked it!
Making this tomorrow to eat in our camper . Love the one pot meals. However I will sauté shallot & add Leseur peas. Also changing the pasta to conchiglie-they will hold the sauce well. Should be Yummy.
Sounds perfect!! Thank you & have fun & enjoy!
I made this recipe tonight. Turned out delicious. Thanks.
Thank you for giving it a try 🙂 I am glad you liked it!!
I am trying this tonight with a gf homemade cream of chx soup mix and gf thin spaghetti pasta. It sounds amazing and we can’t wait to try it!
I’m only using 2 breasts, cooked in a pan with onion powder, garlic powder, salt and pepper on low until fully cooked. I will then use this recipe, it yields about 1.5 cans of cream of chicken condensed soup. Add in about 12oz of al dente pasta (gf overcooks VERY easily into a gummy mess!), viola. Deliciousness!
homemade cream of chicken condensed soup:
In a sauce pan…(My kids both hound me for any extras whenever I make this as a base for other recipes!)
1 tablespoon butter
2 tablespoons cornstarch
1 cup warm water (crush the 3 cubes in a ziploc and put in here or use powdered boullion to taste! Easy does it, you dont want it too salty!)
1 cup milk
3 chicken boullion cubes
1.5 tsp onion powder
Sounds great! Thank you so much for sharing that!
I love chicken tetrazzini trying it tonight
I’ll let you know how it turns out, so excited my husband has never had it so will see!
This is our favorite!! I hope you like it!
The pioneer woman says to cook the spaghetti al dente before baking chicken spaghetti. Do I cook the noodles all the way through or do I do them Al dente since I am baking the noodles again in the oven?
I usually just cook them according to the box. Really, you could cook them to your liking..no wrong way 🙂
This looks delish! I’ve always had this dish made with sliced celery as well Give it some crunch and extra flavor. Also some bread/cracker/panko on top!
Yes, those are great ideas!! Thanks for sharing!
It looks good
Thank you…it is! 🙂 We love it! I hope you try it soon.
Love this, I often add peas or chopped broccoli. I also have added frozen peas and carrot mixture with great result. no measurement of them I just add till it looks good. Thanks for sharing
Those are great options!! Lots of ways to change it up 🙂 Thanks so much for sharing!
Do you know how many it feeds usually?
Depending on how big scoops are, you could feed a good sized family..maybe 15-20?? Now, if scoops are bigger, then obviously less. I take it to family functions & it feeds quite a few!
I made this dish and my family liked it so much, I had to make it the following week, plus another casserole for Potluck Sunday at church. Sent a dish home with the new Pastor’s family, who loved it as much as we did! Thanks for a keeper!
Woohoo!! I love to hear that! Thank you so much for sharing that 🙂
Thanks for sharing the recipe! I made it for my boyfriend and he was impressed!!
Love hearing that!! Glad he was impressed! Thank you 🙂
Everytime I’ve used this recipe I’ve had to use it without the Sour Cream because my picky hubby doesn’t like sour cream but I thought why not just sneak it in there tonight see what he says. I didn’t mention a thing and he said, “Mmm this is even better than before babe what’d you do differently?”. I have to agree sour cream is obviously in the recipe for a reason lol.
LOL!!! I love that you snuck it in! Glad he liked it. Thank you so much for sharing!!
I’ve tried your recipes. And believe me it was awesome. thanks for sharing amazing recipes.
You are so welcome!! Thank you for trying some recipes. I am glad to hear that you like them!
How big are the chicken breasts you’re using? It seems these days a chicken breast looks like it’s been through the super soldier treatment Captain America got, and I’d hate to end up using far too much chicken my first time out.
I would just say normal size..not huge nor too small?? I usually have about a pound of chicken 🙂 Hope that helps!
I made this today using what I had on hand, I used chicken my husband smoked and cut it up. I also added onions, celery and mushrooms. I used frozen egg noodles, which I cooked and added to the mixture.
It was great! Thank you for sharing your recipe!
Sounds delicious!! Thank you for sharing 🙂
Love your recipes, fast and simple. Perfect for a busy mother
Thank you!! I love fast & easy recipes & love to share 🙂
Best way to warm up leftovers. So delicious!
I seasoned the chicken with parsley, garlic, salt, pepper, rosemary, oregano and olive oil to bake. Then followed the recipe as written. This was delicious!!
Perfect!! Sounds yummy! Thank you for sharing!
Thanks for shAring .. it looks amazing and I’m goin to try it.
It is!! I hope you like it as much as we do!
I used ONE cup of sour cream (out of laziness that I shall call necessity, not for dietary reasons) and it was still AMAZING. Honestly, I didn’t even miss it – sauce was still creamy and thick, and just as delicious. I just wanted to share that if you were (like me) caught with only one cup of sour cream, tetrazzini can still go on!
That is good to know..thank you for sharing!! Glad it was still good!
This was a huge hit with my kids!!!! The recipe males quite a bit for a family of 4 so we had leftovers as well. Thank you so much for this recipe!!
You are so welcome! I am glad to share! My kids love this too 🙂 Thanks!
Very good! I don’t boil my pasta for baked dishes, but soak it in warm salted water for 45 minutes. It never overcooks & saves a cooking pot & a heated kitchen. Since I portion & freeze leftovers, I added plenty of chicken broth (2 cups). Surprisingly, after letting it stand for 15 minutes, it firmed up very well. It would have been dry with only 1/2 cup of broth. Between the broth & soup salt is unnecessary. I also added 1/2 t each of poultry & Italian seasonings.
Thank you for sharing what you did 🙂
I served this to my friends last week and they loved it! I used light sour cream, and lower fat soup. Broke up the linguine noodles for easier eating. I will make this again, and again… !
That makes me so happy to hear! Thank you! I am so glad they all liked it!
Does the chicken soup have to be cooked separately first, before adding to all the other ingredients? Or can u use straight from the can?
Thanks
Not at all..just add it from the cans 🙂 Hope you like it!
This is so wonderful. One of my families favorite meals ❤
I agree!! Thanks for stopping by!
Made this tonight. It is delicious. My husband had 2 helpings! I used cut up rotisserie chicken and added mushrooms. I boiled the linguine to a very al dente state because it bakes for 40 additional minutes. Turned out cheesy and perfect….tons of flavor. Will definitely make again. No, not the healthiest recipe, but we all need to splurge sometimes!
I agree!! We all need to splurge sometimes! Thank you so much! I am so happy to hear that your family loved it!
Howdy. I made this recipe the other day. It turned out great! My husband & I enjoyed it. I call my husband Picky Pants on a lot of foods, but he gobbled it down. I will def make this again! I substituted with spaghetti noodles. Broke them up for easy eating turned out great.
This recipe is so delicious!! I substituted with angel hair pasta and threw in some peas!! Thank you!!
Perfect!! Thank you for sharing! I am so glad you liked it!
So delicious! Read reviews. Used 1 rotisserie chicken and added sautéed onions, garlic, and mushrooms. I used white wine instead of chicken broth. Reduced to 1 cup sour cream, used 2 can cream of chicken and 1 can cream of celery, added 1 bag frozen chopped broccoli to noodles during last minute, and under cooked noodles by 2 minutes. I also broke up linguini noodles. Stirred in fresh basil after all mixed up and topped it with shredded pepper jack cheese and Panko bread crumbs. So flavorful. My son requested this once a week! Highly recommended ❣️
Sorry…, 1 can cream of chicken and 1 can cream of celery. ENJOY
Thank you so much for sharing your changes! They sound great 🙂
Kristyn, loved your Chicken Tetrazini recipe. My guys aye almost the whole pan in one sitting. Added mushrooms and onion. This would be great with leftover turkey during the holidays also. This is a keeper. Thanks for sharing.
You are so nice! Thank you for letting me know! Yes, turkey would also be great!!I’m so happy your family loved it!
Can’t wait to try this recipe. Looks so good!!
It is!! I sure hope you like it!! ENJOY!
Don’t really like using butter. Could you use margarine or country crock light butter?
Yes, of course 🙂 Either of those would work 🙂
made this today, EXCELLENT!! After reading comments I did add green onion, mushrooms. Thank you for sharing 🙂 I love your blog
You are so sweet!! Thank you so much for trying it!!
they all look good thank you
Thanks so much!!
Hi Kristyn,
I am making this today for a Super Bowl Party!!
I can’t wait to try it.
Hope it was a hit!!
Hi! What does the TB stand for in regards to the parmasean? Thanks!
TB is tablespoon 🙂 Enjoy!
Let me say Yummy. I used as much reduced fat products as I could along with FF mozzarella. Used 1 cup light sour cream and 1 cup nonfat yogurt. Used Heart healthy cream of Chicken soup. Let me tell you the yogurt haters and fake cheese haters in this family have no clue and have asked it be a regular meal. I’m not telling.
LOL!! I wouldn’t tell them either 🙂 Thank you so much for sharing!
Wow! This is the recipe I’ve been looking for!! Just made it, and it turned out super yumm-o! I used a leftover rotisserie chicken & then added fresh sauteed mushrooms to mine. I really don’t think you can go wrong with this recipe! Thank you!
No, you can’t go wrong! Thank you so much!
I really like your idea of a menu calendar and will give it a try. I have gotten tired of cooking for a very fussy person. It has taken the fun out of cooking for me.
Oh, I am sorry! I hope that helps!
Tried this and it was perfect. Next time, add black olives. I ccoked my chicken a little longer, so cut baking time to 30 minutes.
That would be great! Glad you liked it 🙂 Thank you!
First time I ate it I did not like it, but I decided to give it a chance later that day and fell in love with this food. It is easy to make and taste delicious. It was a big hit with my husband also. If I have mushrooms I add mushrooms to it, but the recipe is great as it is. I am trying not to make it too often so I don’t get bored by it, but I think it is impossible. Thank you for great recipe
You are welcome!! Thank you for trying it!
I’ve not made this yet but from the picture OMG it’s going down in my kitchen today !!
Did you try it? I hope you liked it, as much as we do!
Very good recipe! Super easy too! My family loved it!
Yay!! Thank you!
How much garlic powder would YOu use? Or Is fresh better sauteed In butter? And if You use VEGGIEs do you put THe raw? Im speaking of broccoli.
This is amazing! I made it in the morning and came home (through a miserable blizzard) to it already baked in the evening- perfect comfort food. I did add some garlic powder blend to the sauce, and some chopped spinach for color and nutrition. Love it!
Thank you so much for letting me know! I hope it warmed you up 🙂 I love adding garlic powder!
Great recipe. I did add some minced garlic and bacon bits. My family loved it!!!
Sounds perfect!! Thanks for sharing 🙂
Made this for dinner, turned out amazing! Thanks for sharing.
Yay! Thank you for trying it! Glad you liked it!
Soon as I can get the chance, this will be a definite dinner choice.
I’m anxious in setting some of the other recipes. ????
I hope you like it, as much as we do! Thank you so much! ENJOY!
I made this for dinner. Oh my, how delicious! I will definitely be making this again. So easy.
Yay!! Glad you liked it!! Thank you so much!
This was easy to make and very good.
Happy to hear that!! Thanks so much for giving it a try!
Made this with chicken a few weeks ago and everyone loved it, and I mean everyone all the adults and all the kids. Tonight I made it to take over for a family get together and substituted shrimp and cream of shrimp soup for the chicken and cream of chicken soup plus added mushrooms. I already got request for the Christmas and New Year’s day meals.
Sounds great! Love the variations for this recipe! Thank you!
Made this the other night and it was a big hit. Everyone loved it. I did not have chicken broth so I used a half can of water and I added a can of mushroom soup. It was very creamy and tasted delicious. We will definitely be having it again. Can’t wait to try more of your recipes.
You are so nice! I’m glad it was a hit! We love this stuff! Let me know what you think of other ones! Thank you!
Please make your marvelous recipes Pinnable for those of us without printing capabilities!
They are 🙂 At least, when my cursor is over the picture, the PIN button shows up, so I could PIN it. You might have to add the Pinterest on your toolbar or check your options.
This Tetrazzini sauce recipe was outstanding!
Indtead of chicken, I used grouss, and instead of noodles I used wild rice. Sadly there wasnt much for left overs. After Thanksgiving I plan to make this usind left over turkey 🙂
Turkey would be great in it! Your changes sounds great! Glad you liked it! Thank you for sharing!
Just made this-CANNOT WAIT TO TRY!!
I sure hope you like it! Thanks so much!
I was wondering if this chicken tetrazini can be frozen,
Sure can 🙂
I would love to be able to save some of your recipes.. like the cream cheese coffee cake, along with the chicken tetrazzini.
Thank you
They are printable or you could find them on Pinterest & save them to a board..whichever is easiest for you. I hope you’ll try them soon!
Hello! I was wondering if anyone has tired or would try to substitute the pasta for zucchini noodles? Also how would you recommend them to be prepared for baking?
Thanks!
I personally haven’t, but I bet they would taste good! I would think that you can just cut/shred the zucchini, maybe squeeze the liquid, then you could just toss them in to your prepared sauce? Just a guess though? Good luck!
What a Beautiful Lady.
Your recipes Rock. Thank You for sharing.
Thanks so much!!
I just made this for my family this evening and it was a hit! The only change I made was to sub out tuna for the chicken because we are having chicken dishes tomorrow and Sunday. I steamed frozen peas on the side so that those who wanted could mix them in. Delicious!
Sounds great!! I’ll have to try that! Thank you!
I look forward to receiving your e-recipe book! Love new recipes that are easy & not loaded with numerous off-the-wall ingredients.
Yay! Thank you so much! I love those kinds of recipes too 🙂 Let me know what you think of ones you try!
I tried this recipe after reviewing so many tonight for dinner. It was super easy and came out perfect! Will definitely use this recipe again. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you!! That’s why we love it! Glad you liked it!
Awesome dish! Not a fan of sour cream, but tried it anyway. Opened a can of cream of celery by mistake, so I used that and a can of cream of chicken. Added a touch of chicken bouillon. Both of us LOVED it! Cut the leftovers into serving sized portions to freeze. Wrapped them in plastic wrap and put them in a Ziploc bag. EVERY SINGLE TIME we had the leftovers, it tasted exactly like the first time. Warmed in the oven, haven’t tried the microwave.
Thank you so much for trying it & liking it!! 🙂 We love this!!
This recipe is easy to make and absolutely delicious. It’s my go to recipe for short notice when company comes or I just want something quick. I have shared this with several friends and family.
Awe, thank you so much!!! It is great for that 🙂
Looks great! Would love to make this ahead to have in freezer. Would it freeze well? Thanks
Yes, I’m sure it would 🙂 Hope you like it!!
I’ve found that dishes containing pasta of any kind DO NOT FREEZE WELL. The pasta always got too mushy for me even if I followed directions exactly or cooked the pasta less.
I forgott the butter. Will that screw up anything?
How did it turn out? Sorry, to not get back to you in time. The butter helps for sure. Not sure what happens if you forget it?
Can you make this recipe in the crock pot?
I personally haven’t, but crock pots are great for most recipes 🙂 Hope you like it!
My mom makes a similar recipe. She adds mushrooms and green bell pepper which she sautes in sherry till it evaporates. I’m adding the veggies in and cooking as we speak. Will let you know how it turns out!
Yes, please do 🙂 I hope you liked it!
Don’t know if family will like this. How would I make a half recipe? Would dividing ingredients in half work?
Yes 🙂 Let me know what they think!
It was good. I will totally add mushrooms next time!
Yay!! Glad you liked it! Thank you!
I have made this 3 times for the family and they go for it. I do add granulated garlic, basil and top it with butter and garlic under the cheese. 350 convection/bake. Your recipe works great! Fireman killer meal. Thanks
I make a similar dish that does not have sour cream and freezes just fine. I use macaroni, 1 can cream of mushroom soup, broth as in this one or gravy, then I add some (to your taste) green pepper, a small jar of drained pimento, cooked chicken, and shredded cheddar cheese.
Sounds delicious! Thank you for sharing!
I loved loved this recipe!!! I added sharp cheddar and parm to the mixture. I also added frozen peas, garlic powder and diced onion. It was absolutely my best tetrazzini ever
Sounds yum! Thank you for trying it and for letting me know! I’m glad you liked it!
I added two cans of milk, otherwise it would have been very dry.
My mom used to make this when I was a kid with leftover turkey after Thanksgiving. I had forgotten about it until I read your recipe. I am excited to try it tonight! My mom used to put some melted butter mixed with parm and bread crumbs on the top for some crunch. Looking forward to eating this for dinner! 🙂
That sounds delicious!! Thanks for sharing and I hope you like this 🙂
I made this and it was so delicious! But I changed the recipe to fit the ingredients I had on hand. I did not use cream of chicken soup and sour cream. I put a whole can of chicken broth instead of the half a can it calls for. I used a 6 oz. package of cream cheese (because cream cheese is a stable in my house, we put it in most everything) and around a cup of greek yogurt. I also added some extra spices (though I did not measure how much): dried basil, garlic powder, and onion powder.
That sounds wonderful!! Thank you for sharing!! I’m glad you liked it!
Made this recipe tonight and its was delicious! Kids loved it and came back for more.
Hooray!! My kids love it, too! Thank you for making it and for letting me know!
I made this last night and it was so so so good! Even my picky eater enjoyed it ( thats big)! I did saute mushrooms and garlic and added it before baking, other than that I followed it to the T.
I will definitely make this again and soon!
Thanks!
Awe, thank you so much for letting me know!! It’s the perfect recipe for picky eaters 🙂
I need this recipe for 50 servings
You could double or triple..multiply it as many times as you need. Or make 2 double batches in 2 pans? I haven’t made it for that many before. Good luck!
This is delicious! Because my family is a fan of spices, specifically lemon pepper and GARLIC, I dice up the chicken before I brown it up in a pan and use a good amount of lemon pepper and minced garlic. I can’t wait to make this again, but try using spinach noodles.
Thanks so much for letting me know and spinach noodles sound great!
This was an instant family favorite. I’ve already made it about 4 more times. Comfort food at its best.
Total comfort food!! I’m so glad your family loves it! Thank you so much!
Is this a 1 lb pkg of linguini?
Yes 🙂 I hope you enjoy!!
In trying to cut out carbs as much as possible, I switched out the noodles with pre-cooked spaghetti squash. I used slices of fresh mozzarella…other than that, I kept recipe the same. It just went into the oven…I am seriously drooling waiting for it!
PS. Your snickerdoodle recipe is in our family Hall of Fame!
So, glad the snickerdoodles made the Hall of Fame!! And, I love your healthier version! I will have to try that. Thanks so much.
Loved it , My first try came out excellent !!!!! I will be adding this to my mix of things we eat in my house hold, Also instead of linguini noodles I used to rotoni noodles GREAT OUTCOME
Yay!! Thanks so much for sharing that and great idea to change up the noodles!
Made this tonight. It was great! I had 1 can of cream of chicken and 1 can of cream of celery. Turned out wonderfully!
Sounds perfect! Thanks so much for letting me know.
Having guests over for dinner tonight and decided to give this recipe a try. I added some minced garlic, and chopped up some fresh broccoli and carrots to mix in. VERY excited to see how this turns out! Best part is i was able to prep it all this morning, cover and throw it in the fridge until im ready to bake. 🙂
Oh, I’d love to know what everyone thinks! I hope it’s a hit. Thanks so much for giving it a try!
Do you use the powder parmesan cheese or shredded parmesan cheese?
I just use grated parmesan cheese, but either would be ok 🙂 Thank you so much and hope you like this, as much as we do!
I’ve made this it’s deliscious!!
Yay, I’m so glad!! Thanks for trying it and for letting me know!!
This dish is marvelous. I made it today and it’s delicious. I did saute’ a small sliced up yellow onion in the butter before adding the rest of the ingredients. I didn’t miss celery but may add it or small peas sometime, but it’s definitely good on its own. For company I would add pimentos for color, but for just me it’s terrific like this. And you can do it all in one pot, drain the pasta in collander and then add all the stuff to that pot to mix before pouring it in the baking dish. I only had to bake for 35 min but left it in the hot oven for an extra 5 min just to be following the recipe. It’s wonderful!
Oh, thank you for letting me know! Those changes all sound wonderful! Thanks again!
And the onion was a complete accident, as I had thought it was in the recipe. Wasn’t until I began sauteeing it that I went back to the computer to double-check the ingredients, haha. But it turned out good. Thank you for this recipe!
I was kinda wondering if I could substitute the butter with country crock, or is butter better for the recipe?
You totally could!! I don’t think it’d change it, really. Enjoy!! Thank you!
Any substitute for sour cream, because I don’t like it. Has anyone tried it with cream cheese? Thanks!
I have not. Anyone else?
Use plain yogurt regular or Greek is fine
Any substitute for sour cream? Cuz I don’t like it. Has anyone tried it with cream cheese instead? Thanks!
Made this tonight and it was a big hit! Can’t make it all the time because we’re trying to eat healthier, but definitely a keeper for a treat!
Thanks and no, can’t have every night…would need to hit the gym hard!!
I made the Chicken Tetrazzini tonite and it was absolutely delicious!!!!! ???? My family loved It! ♡♡♡
I am so happy to hear that!!! Thanks for letting me know!!
This is perfect comfort food.
It sure is!! Thanks so much for stopping by!!
Sooooooo….here’s the thing, I made this last night. I added mushrooms. Cooked my chicken in the crockpot then used the broth to boil the noodles. I didn’t have any mozz so I used what I had which was Colby jack. And I added some garlic powder. It was so good, I was told, not asked, but told to make it again tonight. So that’s the thing, this dish should come with a disclaimer “will make your family (husband, daughter 9 and son 4) ravenous wacka-do’s who now only want this for dinner”. Thank you for that. 😉
LOL!!! Sorry about that 🙂 My kids love it, too!! I’m glad they like it!
I am making this to night, I’ll let you know what my son in law says! ☕
Awesome!! I hope you all love it as much as we do!! Thanks so much..I want to hear!
OK, I have 6 grandkids, my daughter & son in law I cooked for this eveming. I almost doubled the recipie. Everyone (but the 4yr old) loved it, I will be making it again! I served it with a salad & warm bread. ????
Yay!! Thanks so much for letting me know!! So glad they liked it!
This looks great! I am trying to find a dish for a church small group meal. How many does this feed?
I would say a 9×13 can feed 10-12 people, as long as their helpings aren’t huge! If you are taking to a church group, you could maybe double and put in a 11×17 dish. Hope that helps! Thanks!!
Have you ever made this the night before and put it in the fridge overnight so it’s ready to go in the oven the next day after work?
I have not, but I’m sure it’d be ok. Let me know how it turns out! Thanks for stopping by!!
This was delicious! However I will have to run an extra two miles tomorrow! The kiddos loved it and I am excited to try it out on my husband. I always test out new recipes on the kiddos first. Next time I will try some swaps like Greek yogurt, less butter and whole wheat linguine. Being from New Mexico I may also add some green chile. Thanks for the recipe, I found it on Pinterest ????
LOL!! Thanks for letting me know! Those changes sound great!!
I made this tonight. I changed things up a bit, feeling creative after reading some of the comments. I used Hatch Chili grated cheese instead of mozzarella. I added mushrooms and panko bread crumbs like I had read in some of the comments. I used the tops of 2 green onions and cooked it all at 350 degrees for 55 minutes without foil as I like it a bit crunchy. It was great and was a hit.
Love your changes! Thanks for sharing those!! So glad you liked it!!
Just made this tonight. It was very yummy! Definitely a comfort food. Only thing I would do different next time is add some sautéed garlic. I’m a garlic lover…it goes in everything! Thanks for this yummy recipe!
I love garlic too!! That would be yummy! Thanks so much!!
your chicken tetrazzini is literally my favorite savory food ON EARTH!!!!
Oh, thank you so much!! We sure love it, too!!
Thanks for this recipe . I love pasta!!!
You’re welcome!! I love pasta too 🙂 Let me know what you think!
This recipe sounds delish! I was wondering if you’ve ever froze it to cook later?
I haven’t personally, but you totally could. I would prepare it in a foil pan and just cover it real well. Let me know what you think?
This was really good! I added cayenne pepper & Italian seasoning. My kids loved it. Thanks for the recipe.
Sounds delish!! Thanks for letting me know!!
This sounds so good. Making tonite with garlic toast. I’m going to add some mushrooms just because we like them.
Sounds delish!!! Especially, with garlic toast:) Enjoy!!!
I am trying out this recipe and I was wondering how do you cook your chicken? Do you boil it or bake it? What kind of spices do you use on the chicken?
You could cook it however you like. I cook it in the crockpot, I bake it, depending on the day or how much time I have, that determines how I cook it. I like to put a few chicken breasts in the crockpot, after buying it and you could sprinkle with just salt and pepper, or Italian seasoning and I like to shred it, so it’s ready when I need it. You could cut the chicken into cubes and fry them in oil, that way, as well. This recipe is great with shredded chicken or cubed. Hope that helps:)
May I make a suggestion? I made this recipe(with a few changes for personal preference) but found it was perfect to what I was looking for. I coated the chicken pieces with one dry Italian dressing mix and olive oil before cooking. Also instead of two cans cream of chicken, use one and a cream of mushroom (with roasted garlic). A family favorite now.
Sorry missed rating it.
Also it is great with roasted asparagus.
Those changes sound great!! I’m so glad your family likes it!! It’s one of our favorites, too, and I’ll have to try it with your changes!
Holy smokes this was good. I did saute an onion and some mushrooms and added in. I also used Greek yogurt instead of sour cream cause that’s what I had in my fridge also with the cream of mushroom soups and broth I omitted extra salt. It was delish!
Yay!! I wish I liked onions or that’d be a great add in:) Thanks for letting me know!
I made this recipe just as stated and it turned out fantastic! The absolute best part was when my “I don’t eat chicken unless it’s a nugget” daughter tasted her ‘no thank you’ helping, piled her plate full, asked for seconds, and then asked when we could have it again!
I’d planned on putting the leftovers in containers to freeze for individual meals, but there weren’t any. Next time I’m definitely making a double batch, because this has gone on the short list of meals everyone in my house will eat!
LOL…yes, it’s the perfect recipe for those picky eaters! We love it! Glad you tried it and know it’s a keeper!! Thanks for sharing!
You have some beautiful kids…..and your recipes look so mouth watering……I love chicken tetrazzini and this sound like the best recipe I have seen…..looking forward to making this…
Love your blog……
Thank you so much! That’s sweet of you:) This one is one of our favorites!! I hope you give it a try!
Gonna attempt to make this Chicken Tetrazzini tonight for my family #!!!### let’s see how well I do…… Ur dish looks awesome hope my dish comes out looking just half as good!!
How did it turn out?
Hi Kristyn! Thank you so much for this recipe. I came across it on Pinterest and it took me right back to childhood when my mom would make this. I made it tonight and it was delicious. I only used 1 cup of sour cream and 2 chicken breasts. I also added in some thyme and summer savory (and peas for a veggie). 3 out of 4 family members highly approved (the fourth is a 4 year old and wouldn’t even taste it because it wasn’t “usual pasketti”). Thanks a million!
Made this tonight and it was delicious! Thanks for sharing!
Can this be assembled at night, refrigerated and cooked the next morning? Taking this to a ladies club meeting.
This was amazing. I added a little garlic and my husband couldn’t get enough. I will be making this again. I used low sodium soup and low fat cheese couldn’t even tell. Love it!
Do I use ready-to-serve cream of chicken soup or the kind that is condensed and you add water to make soup?
Im going to make this too i believe its just cream of chicken soup and dont add water to make soup thats where the stalk comes in to loosen the soup 🙂
I ended up using one can of condensed cream of chicken, and adding a half of a can of water, in addition to the can of chicken broth and halfed the sour cream. Also added garlic, parsley and other herbs. It was good!
SO glad you liked it – the additional ingredients sound yummy!
How many pounds is four chicken breasts? They come in different weights and sizes. Four breasts could be two pounds or three pounds.
WOW!!! Three thumbs up from the family!
I made a couple of changes based on what I had on hand – leftover turkey in the freezer, replaced one of the cans of cream of chicken with cream of mushroom and I added frozen peas! True deliciousness. Thanks.
I am also using left over Turkey. Also adding mushroom and peas and a few green olives.
That’s perfect!! Thank you!!
everything looks so good! i’m going to make the chicken tetrazzini yummy
Is there any way to make this a freezer meal in a bag vs a casserole dish?
Thanks!
Noodles don’t freeze well. I bet you could make everything except the noodles and freeze. Then add them when you cook/warm it up.
Yes, I agree, Kassia. Thanks for sharing that 🙂
if I omit the sour cream does it still taste as good? is there something I could substitute? We aren’t big sour cream people over here. thanks!
You can substitute cream cheese for sour cream.
You could also use plain yogurt and much healthier than SC
I don’t like sour cream at all, but this is my new favorite dish! You just get the creamy, and the sour enhances the chicken flavor
I was going to ask if there was an alternative to Sour Cream because I don’t like it either. Maybe I will try it now because of you!
I hope you will. It does add so much..for the better 🙂 Let me know what you think!
All of these chicken recipes look soooo good. I usually get stuck in a rut and cook the same old chicken dishes. This will be a nice change the Chicken Tetrazzini looks divine and so easy. Thanks for sharing!
II’ve never heard of tetrazzini but this looks amazing. When I googled tetrazzini i noticed that a more typical dish has wine…. Is there a reason you didn’t make it with wine or is it just as good without it?
Normally people substitute wine with chicken broth so since the recipe calls for chicken broth, I would think wine would not be necessary. Just my thoughts. Also, I’ve made this recipe and it is flavorful, creamy cheesy deliciousness! 🙂
I personally haven’t tried with wine, but we love this, with the broth. You can totally try with wine.
This is in the oven right now! I cannot wait to eat it- I had to taste-test when I put it in the pan and it was divine!
Hope it turned out great!! 😀
Made this tonight for dinner. YUM! Thanks so much for the recipe! Will definitely make again!
I’m so glad you liked it. It’s one of our favorites!! Haven’t made it for awhile so I need to add it to the rotation. 😉
This turned out so good, that my husband went back for seconds. This is definitely a keeper. Think I might add a vegetable in it next time.
So glad the fam liked it!! I think Broccoli would be a great addition. Let me know what you end up doing next time. 😉
Do u use big cans of cream of chicken. Or small?
The smaller ones that are just over 10 ounces. 😉
I made this tonight as an unplanned meal scraping together what I had on hand. I cut the recipe in half and it filled an 8×8 dish, which was more than enough for our small family. I used 2 cups of rotisserie chicken from Costco, added fresh spinach, and used spaghetti noodles. I also only boiled the noodles long enough to make them able to mix and they finished cooking in the casserole since I detest soggy noodles and prefer al dente. It was delicious and passed the picky toddler test!
I’m so happy to hear that, Molly!! Fresh Spinach would be a great addition – will have to try that next time I make this. 😉
Going to give this a try tonight! Quick question… How did you prepare your chicken? Grilled, boiled, fried, etc?
I usually grill or bake it in the oven. For the oven, I usually drizzle olive oil on it and some lemon pepper at 400 for about 30-40 minutes and then I cube or shred. If I’m smart enough and have time, I usually cook it in the crock pot. 😉
This is one of the recipes that my instant pot comes on real handy. It cooks frozen chicken breast in 30 minutes. Just like you would put them in the crock pot for 4-6 hours. It falls apart and will shred with just stirring with a large fork.
Hi 🙂 I’m making this tonight and am planning on using rotisserie chicken. I know it says 4 breasts, but 2 rotisserie chickens sounds like a lot. Would you use one or two chickens?
I’d use one since 1 rotisserie chicken usually feeds about 4, which in mind is about 4 breasts. 😉
I’d use 1 rotisserie chicken but also include dark meat.
I love the dark meat poultry. I’m new to dentures so it’s so much easier to eat!
Going to try this tmrw! BTW is it Parmasean chesse in powder or off the block?
This recipe is a huge hit with my family. Even my super picky 6 year old! I’m making it tonight with garlic bread after he begged for “the yummy chicken Tetris stuff” 🙂
This may be a stupid question but is TB tablespoons? or what does it stand for, I have never seen tablespoon written like that (tbsp usually)
Hi, am making this tonight, as tetrazzini is my favorite dish. My only thought on the recipe as written is that chicken breasts come in all weights. How many ounces of chicken would you say you put in this dish? Thanks!!!! I also plan to mix the cheeses because there can never be too much cheese. xoxo
How did it turn out? I’d say it’s about 24-30 ounces of chicken… depends on how much chicken you like. You could always add more or do less. 😉 And you can never go wrong adding more cheese. ;D
What are the daily values for this recipe? Fat, carbs, fiber, protein?
Thanks for sharing! I am going to try this tonight. Is this dish really only baked at 300 degrees, or is that possibly a typo?
350 for 40-45 in the written recipe. Came out perfect for me!
I made this tonight, just as the recipe states except my cream of chicken soup was cream of chicken with herbs (just happened to be what I had in the pantry). It is soooo good! Thank you so much! This is going into our regular dinner rotation!
Thanks for stopping by! I’ve never tried the cream of chicken wth herbs, so I’ll have to try that next time. Thanks for the suggestion!
Can you Use cream of muShroom sOup instawd of cream shicken soup?
Yes 🙂 Enjoy!!
WE’VE HAD A SIMILAR RECIPE IN OUR FAMILY FOR YEARS, I USE 1 CAN of CREAM OF CHICKEN, AND One CAN OF Cream of muSHROOM. I ALSO ADD MUSHROOMS AND ON OCCASSION ONIONS FOR A SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT TASTE. I now use less sour cream, Which is fat free, no sodium chicken broth, and fat free soup and cheese to cut back on calories. One of our Favorite dishes. You can totally modify to add or take out many ingredients to make it your own.
Very true!! Thank you for sharing your changes! Sounds great!
Yummy!!!! Thanks for sharing!! I used pasta spirals instead of linguini, added 1/2 a raw cauliflower (finely chopped), used a little less butter, and sprinkled breadcrumbs on top with the cheese (I also didn’t bother using the alfoil as I wanted a nice, brown, crispy top).
Mmmmm!!!! It was so yummy that I claimed the leftovers and have been enjoying them these last couple of days. 😉
It is a simple and yet very tasty meal which I have just written up in my recipe collection. Thanks again!!!
No veggies??, I remember growing up tetrazzini having veggies. In our house, it was peas and mushrooms. Weird combo but it worked. Can I suggest cooking pasta less then what it says on the box? If you cook it to done then bake for another hour, you will have mushy pasta. Any casserole that uses pasta and is baked, I cook 1-2 minutes less.
That’s a great suggestion! I have never had that problem, but I could see how you could. And if you want veggies, feel free to add them. 😉
I wondered the same thing about not completely cooking the pasta. I used fettuccine (didn’t have linguine on hand) which I cooked according to the package and then baked it in the casserole. It wasn’t mushy at all. Maybe because it is a little bigger than fettuccine? Great casserole. My family loved it!
I was thinking the same thing. I will add the veggies to mine. Thanks.
If you want to add peas, use frozen and do not cook them first. They will be perfect! They are a great addition to the dish and so colorful.
Good point about cooking the pasta less. Traditionally it’s made with Peas and Mushrooms. I don’t like mushrooms but mine has the peas. I only have one suggestion…you can do without the sour cream but if you do, use a small amount. 2 cups is insane…more of a stroganoff. I recommend 1/2 cup. Bon Apetit, Chef Cosmo
Thanks for the suggestions!
we love this we add mushrooms and pimentos for a twist of flavor. My kids asked for peas in it not sure if that would taste yummy.
Can this be frozen? If so, should I cook it first or get it ready to bake and then freeze?
I’ve never freezed it but I’m sure you could get it all ready to cook and then the day off, take it out to let it unthaw and then cook the regular time. 😉
It should freeze well. Just defrost in the fridge and then bake. Because it has dairy in it the consistency may be a little different.
I plan On making this tOnight. Will halve the recipe and add some mixed vegetables to up the nutrition factor.
Hope you like it!
I’d add just a little extra sauce or just extra broth to it. Pasta is known to soak up liquid. I could be wrong. Just an idea. Extra sauce never hurts anything. 🙂
If you cook the pasta until about a minute under al dente, it will finish cooking in the soup mixture in the oven, only absorbing what’s needed to finish cooking. That’s why I use Barilla pastas. It never overcooks or gets mushy. You shouldn’t need to add more liquid, at least, I wouldn’t.
Looks so delicious! Thanks for sharing the recipe!
Kristyn , Happy New Year! I’ve never made chicken tetrazzini. Looks yummy and so does your crispy chicken pasta. My daughter hates red sauce so these recipes need to go onto my must try list.
Have you tried adding sugar to the red sauce. I am not a huge red sauce fan either but its pretty good with sugar 🙂
There is no red sauce in this recipe…
I’m sorry Desiree, i didn’t realize that you were replying to a different comMent about red Sauce. My apologies.
This looks delicious, Kristyn! I want to dig in right now! Pinning for sure!
I’ve made this many times and followed these directions closely. It turns out perfect, never mushy! I have added mushrooms the last couple of times and it’s great!
Makes me happy to hear! Thank you for letting me know!
Oh man…yummy! I am always looking for new and easy recipes to make for my family! Thank you so much for sharing all of these delicious chicken recipes. They are all sure to be winners with my little fam! PINNED!
One would think you could have figured out that this recipe isn’t super healthy from the start before you even decided to make it, simply based on the ingredients. Quickly googling the word “tetrazzini” will let you know that it’s not Italian, but rather American, and is typically presented just like this dish– basically, “creamy linguine with chicken” IS tetrazzini. I made this tonight and I thought it was easy and tasty– definitely not a health food, but a comfort food. It was anything but flavorless.
so – lighten it up yourself! Fat free sour cream, fat free cream-of-whatever or reduced sodium versions or make your own versions, add in veggies and reduce the amount of cheese or use fat-free/reduced sodium or a combo of fat-free, reduced sodium and regular cheese. Don’t think it tastes great? Add other spices. I almost never use a recipe with the exact ingredients more than once or twice due to family preferences and a low-sodium diet.
Cooking is fun!
I added Parmesan/Romano cheese, Italian seasoning, garlic powder and mushrooms. It was perfect! My husband has no sense of smell, so food is bland. He loved this! Just add some ‘extras’, if you like more seasoning : )
Can you make this in the crockpot?
Oh yes, it’s definitely a comfort food!! Glad you liked it. 🙂
I’ve made this twice and I LOVE it. Even on the 3day it’s so good. It’s only my husband and I so we have lots of left overs.
Sometimes we just need comfort food.
Totally agree – I always change things up too. 😉
Sour cream for plain Greek yogurt maybe?
Well said, Mary! The value of a recipe like this from Lil Luna is in part the basic amounts, cooking times, etc. I’m making this tonight and bought Health Recipe Cream of Chicken and Cream of Mushroom soups. I will gauge how much sour cream to add as I put it all together in a bowl. I considered adding chopped fresh broccoli, but decided it might crowd the 9×12 baking dish, so will slice it into wedges and steam or microwave it separately. Should make for a nice presentation I think. Thanks Lil Luna!!
Am about to try. Sounds wonderful & simple! I wish those who are concerned about FAT understood that it’s STARCHES that convert to sugar, which then converts to BAD FAT. The pasta itself is the concern. And anytime you read the words “low fat”, “reduced fat”, “NO OR ZERO FAT”, they can’t keep the flavor without the NATURAL FAT, so they just add SUGAR to compensate. As long as you don’t eat fat to an excess (so as not to increase your cholesterol), it’s better to consume WHOLE FAT since it doesn’t convert to bad fat. If you want to continue to eat starches try WHITE KIDNEY BEAN EXTRACT. I began taking it 2/25/21 and LOST 26 lbs. by mid April. 2 months of RELIGIOUSLY taking it and the weight literally shaved off the 2nd month. Bottom line, if you forget to take it, it doesn’t work. I always have some on my person in case I’m out and about. Potatoes, grits, ANY GRAIN, bread, pasta, rice, tortillas, etc. Pop 2 of them BEFORE my starchy meal and I’m done. Eat all of the natural fat I want and still lost 28 lbs in 2 months. And it’s cheap on Amazon. Best! 😊
Thanks Beck! Hopefully, that helps anyone with questions about that! I love Asiago! Great suggestion:)
That sounds delish!! Thanks for passing that on!
Really Sue?! I think her kids are STINKIN’ cute! If you can’t be nice, don’t say anything. She’s putting her life and recipes out there for everyone to enjoy and she’s allowed to use whatever words she wants. Maybe you should leave her blog page.
Thanks so much for letting me know! Glad you liked it!
We could eat it all week long 🙂 Thank you for sharing!

Thank you so much!! I hope you liked it 🙂
Yay!! I am glad I could 🙂 Hope it was a hit!
Hi Kristyn,
I came out great – I used about 1/2 of sour cream in the recipe and about a handful of the mozzerella – just enough to cover it. Along with the Parmesan, I sprinkled a couple TBS of Italian bread crumbs. Even with the smaller amounts, there wouldn’t have been any room for veggies. Oh, and I used a couple 9 oz packages of cooked sliced chicken breast (Perdue I think). Thanks for the excellent recipe which will become a regular in the rotation!
Sounds perfect!! I am so glad you liked it 🙂 Thank you for sharing what you did!!
Thank! I hope you will try this soon 🙂
Sounds perfect!! Thank you so much for sharing that!!
Well, I appreciate you trying it 🙂 Thank you!
I haven’t tried it in the crockpot, but I imagine you could. I would assemble just the same as baking in the oven and put it in the crockpot on low for 2 hours, stirring every so often. You’ll have to let us know how it turns out if you try cooking it that way! 🙂
Thanks for sharing.
I will double check on the nutritional values for this recipe and make sure they are accurate. Thanks so much for letting me know! I appreciate it!
Thanks for your honest feedback and for giving the recipe a try!
